Are you kidding? I don't know who you are, but the guy is a workaholic. He makes it onto television, radio, and writes articles for Vanity Fair and people think he's a sell out all of a sudden? '91 because thats when Nevermind was released and the alternative boom started and '96 was the end because thats when all the bands broke up. By 97 lollapalooza had run out of steam. 94 was the peak and was the best year i'll give you that. You can even just tell through records, tv shows and movies that after 96 everything was different...wasnt vintage like the golden era.
