  • So whats this list thing is it going to morrisons or tesco ?

  • Why wasn't the crane moved to hang over to starboard to attempt to counter the list?

I see a tug was following. The ships is going too fast for the list

  • Where was this vid taken?

  • she went in an anticlockwise circle for 3 days before they noticed.

  • I guess the Chief mate had just been fucked by the Captain. Probably his last ship in the company.

  • A little negative GM there!

  • Ahoy there???.....we are having great difficulty staying upright.....could you move a little closer so we get ALL of your wake washing over our deck? At a boy.

  • Don't let the owner see this

  • maybe the chief officer is sleeping on the cargo operation..

  • thats what happens when u get carried away with a booze cruise

  • omg cheff officer, good stability calculation:D

  • Hello, compartmentalization saves lives by not allowing loads to shift! The price for safety is the cost and weight of steel bulkheads.

  • wow its the paused version of poseidon

  • why didnt they move the crane over

  • @Pugragger because the center of the weight of the crane wont change.. it always remains at the vertical arm no mater how you move the other one

  • how do you stop a shit? full speed ahead? but then what? throw some cargo? or adjust ballast?

  • You're all wrong! The ship just got a flat tire on one side.

  • Campa hasn´t .....this is the internet where anybody talks about thing he doesn´t know

The ships Design shows that its made for shippin grain, granulate or else like that but who cares if( he she) can talk crap

  • has anybody read the bloody description?

  • @Sammyy46 nope

  • @16989473 lol well u should!

  • the problem with this are the crew and the chief officer why he dont double check if the cargo are properly secured meaning good lashing so that it wont move or they are not properly trained well....

  • How you secure granulates? They are mostly moving, not fast gropage loads.

  • How can you be sure that the cargo on that ship is granulates like corn, ore or any other type of granules. If your cargo is like that the chief officer or the captain must maintain good tank ballasting and they have a good stowage plan.

  • @Campawan WTF ? are you stupid? you can see it IS A ship there dosent have containers on right ? okay GOOD you can also see its a ship there dosent have crude oil on right ? GOOD you can see its a ship there has lose cargo onbord. and NO no balast system on sucth a ship can get it to picth 00

  • @nickpDK i agree ;)

  • @Campawan Do you know how many ships had get list or upsidedown when it had granulate loads. MANY. Fast loads are loaded wal to wal, they are not moving. Granulates are very often so heavy that it is only few hills in ship, then big wave and hill is falling to side and beeing there, not coming back.

  • @Campawan it looks like a grain carrier, so number one your wrong, number two, don't comment on something you don't know about and number three you suck

  • all i did was shift my dick!

  • The crew obviously have noiticed some dolhins to one side of the ship. They all ran over and the ship started to list.

  • Perhaps this is what happened to the Edmund Fitzgerald before she sank. Fran

  • its because the helmsman is steering from his hamok

  • Same thing happened to me, thankfully not as bad. LOL but hearing the load shift... is a lonely feeling. I feel for that crew~

  • Listing changes the boats center of gravity. In order for it to be righted back up again a force has to act on the boat at any point other than the center of gravity which causes a torque clockwise with respect to the captain. Turning the boat left causes an accelerating on the cg to the right which doesn't produce a torque and thus doesn't right the boat. Unless the boat has some crazy rudder system or the captain dropped anchor on one side to create drag there are no velocity dependant forces

  • which will right the boat.

  • why doesnt he move that crane to the right (starboard) side of the ship to help balence it out

  • it all depends on why is it listing... maybe speed slows down incoming water... or he just want to arrive as soon as possible not flip over...

    go figure!

  • wait! the captain is right! making a full speed is great thinking to save the ship! he better bang it to the beach!

  • The chief is 100% correct. Right form the textbook "Theory of the Ships and Ship`s Construction"- "...the righting moment of the couple weight (P) and the up-thrust force (delta) is obtained by the product of : Mr=GZ.(delta) where GZ is the arm of the righting moment..." which has nothing to do with the speed ! =)))

  • banging that engine FULL STEAM AHEAD so's to get to its destination ASAP,if they slowed it would go over..the boat that the camera footage was taken from might of been a tug or a boat to keep watch so if it went over the crew had some where to board..great video though

  • If they slowed down it would go over ? So you mean that th GZ is affected by the speed of the ship ? how ? No no no..... but since the stability is not affected by the speed it is no reason to slow down either.

  • geforce1972 is right, i can't be bothered to go into the science of it... but if the boat slowed dow the list would increase... and eventually the ship would bein to sink. Just use your logic, if a ship has a serious 15-20 degree list... and the Captain is STILL proceding at full speed... that suggests that that's what's saving the ship. There's plenty of footage of Ships that have been haulted that have a 10-15 degree list, they tend to sink. This one survived. Just learn some science

  • If you don´t know anything about ship stability don´t pretend to. The stability of a ship has nothing to do with the speed of the vessel.

If you stop the vessel in high sea, (a stopped vessel puts her side to the sea)the sea might cause a shift in your cargo.

But to think that a change in speed for this vessel might cause her to sink is ridiculous.

How did she do during berthing ? Or maybe she berthed in 12 knots ?

I mean if the capsize when she slows down ? :-)

  • Learning sience: Well i got a diploma at my wall that says bachelor of maritime studies. It took me 4 years at maritme institute to get. Presently I´m a chief officer on a chemical tanker.

  • I shall then... take back everything i've said.

    Much apologies

  • :-)

    No apologies needed.

Only a truely great man admits a misstake.... Respect.

  • bravo on being a rare case of an internet person who admits fault. You've got my award for best post in thread!

  • someone is shitting in toilet at the corner of the ship.

  • hummm i think that the loading of cargo whent rong

  • first of all its "went wrong" second...read the description.

  • low profile speedy boat XD

  • Just makes it easier for the pilot to get on board !! :)

  • the chief mate did a great job i see

  • coast guards got them

  • EVERYBODY LEAN TO STARBOARD!!!

  • LOL

  • HOLY SHIT

  • Wow.. they where pretty lucky that the water didnt rise over the freeboard. Then they could have been in serious problems. Great vid

  • nothin more in this world that i haate more then a list. always keep her on an even keel. shifting cargo is a dangerous situation

  • list is the lean of a ship to one side

  • im not a sea person but could some one tell me what list is or means i know it dnt look good in the movie

  • list is when internal forces make the ship sit over but heel is when external forces make her lean. like a sail boat, that sits over because of the wind pushing so its heeled over. shifted cargo is inside the ship so it is listing

  • I've never seen that much list before.
