Hi Buddy, I have a 93 ford Truck E-350 1 Ton Econoline - Van and something happened with the transmission (automatic), full fluid level its OK but when into 1 and 2 .... the truck runs good but for 3rd and 4th the RPMs go up and up (foot on gas accelerating), but the truck doesn't speed up .... i'm stuck on 1st and 2nd...
@SirUncleCid Yea the video sucks. I noticed the file was corrupted long after the trans was assembled and the video was made. Its a bit late now to do anything about now but it gives ppl an idea of what it looks like in motion.
hi, after some info if possible, in a 1990 JDM single turbo RS, my box has a noisy bearing inside. Im guessing its somewhere on the input shaft as the noise stops when they push the clutch down. any idea on what bearing its likely to be and haw hard they are to change?
It's a good thing that drill isn't what actually powers that transmission in the car LOL! Cool video I always love to see the inner workings of stuff that you normally don't get to see. It's surprising to me how simple the manual transmissions are inside....I guess that's what keeps them lasting so long.
Have you worked on autos as well. I'm having a problem with my 2000 Legacy. It's hesitant to shift into drive every so often until I rev it to 1500rpm then it slides into drive.
@RetroGamerr1991 It could be due to the fact that is has so few miles and sitting around and driven so little. I would take it for a drive and manually shit it through all the gears a dozen time or so. If it the problems come back then I would change the trans fluid and look for any debris in the pan first.
i recently bought a 03 wrx with a manual 5speed and im low on trans fluid. the guy at the subaru dealership told me that i have to use 80w90 gear oil with limited slip additive but i heard from alot of people that i have to use 75w90. so which one do i use? the fluid that is in there is clean so can i add the new fluid without draining the fluid thats already in there or would that couse the fluids to get thick or worse? -thanks
Some cars use the trip or speed sensor for idling. I have seen broken or disconnected speed sensors cause an engine to stall between shift's when the car is in motion.
@sabutter 97 outback.. however I've been dealing with this.. not so much stalling (brought the car) but like when you back up the car feels like it's binding in reverse and the car will jolt and sometimes it wont happen.
The car also has no 5th gear it just acts like it's in neutral I really haven't had time to check it but I think I will just replace the transmission anyways.
@SubaruB4RSK I see Its probably the of the tail bearings on the shaft. I have changed several of the output tail bearing over the years. Just check the dip stick and look for metal shavings in the oil just after you drive it around. I'm talking about small pieces of metal it will look like glitter in the oil and honestly you'll probably be better off just changing it.
I have seen one trans with 5th gear just rounded off all the way around on the input and output shaft "hence the neutral".
@sabutter When the viscous coupling slips does if favor the front shaft or the rear shaft? I've been researching this and can't find a definite answer
It's hard to say whats wrong with it unless you tear it apart. The only thing i can think of is one time i did see a the bolt that connects the control rod to the shifter backed out and was jammed. When this happened it was nearly impossible to shift gears or out of gear

-Solenoid problem ?
-Should I reset by disconnecting battery ?
-No OD light flashes in dashboard.
-No ''CHECK ENGINE'' light.
Thanks for any help ...

@RetroGamerr1991 Unfortunately that could be a dozen different things.
Is this a problem just going from neutral to drive and not moving?
Do you notice a problem when coasting down a hill at low RPM and you step on the gas going up a hill?
the mileage?
sabutter 4 months ago
@sabutter
1. Yes it goes into reverse fine but none of the forward gears will engage. But for the past week it's been fine.
2. It's fine doing both but it is hesitant to shift down at highway speeds.
3. 73000 miles but it's been doing it since I got it at 61000 miles

i don't really know anything about transmissions, is that a dual clutch transmission?
p954203864 8 months ago
@p954203864 in a manual car the clutch is pretty much a completely different part of the car that is on between the trans and engine

What would cause the car to stall when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear?

Its cool how intstead of a transfercase they came up with the front axle shafts coming out halfway through the tranny.
