How to Wrap a Broken Toe

You buddy taped your toe wrong. You need to put a spacer between the toes. I just broke my toe and it hurt too much to buddy tape.

7 weeks later and it still hurts. I found documentation on the net it takes 6 weeks to 3 months for it to finally heal.

@xXsolidgamer24Xx U should go 2 the doctor 2 get an x-ray 2 rule out the possibility of other bones broken behind it.

If u can't afford the doctor, what this lady said is true. They can't do anything 4 a broken toe, so don't sweat it.

You're looking at a 2 to 6 week recovery time. Possibly up to 2 or 3 months.

It's better to use a crutch (one) to get around on. The more you stay off of it, the quicker it will heal.

Go get supplements from the health food store that speeds up healing.

My toe looks just like yours right now! a small table fell on it. IT HURTS! I compressed it with ice and have kept it elevated but was thinking if maybe I should go to the doctor...? I can move it a bit but it still throbs.. :( REALLY? the doc did nothing about your broken toe???

lol, yep, i can tell it is painfull, i just done mine two days ago.. done a xray, it is broken and it look like yours.. Thanks for the advice, little pinkie is happy now.. hope yours is now all fine.. avoid those bricks as i avoid the terracotta flower pot.. hahahaha

It hurts SO badly. I've been elevating it and making sure that I don't put any weight on it.

This video is great. I knew I should wrap it for sure, but I was wondering how exactly I would do that because of how awkwardly placed the pinky toe is. HAHA

I hope it gets better very soon... Because I'm going on Christmas vacation tomorrow, and this is the worst time for something such as this to happen to me.

@GardenOfImagination you were right, the doctor didnt do anything, just told me to tape it and itll feel a bit better. I had a fracture. Said itll heal in 4-6 weeks, not bad. Hehe I can use this as an excuse now to take it easy at work and ppl wont work me as hard. I have a bruise to show too, yeah! I was hoping that so Id have proof =P Damn I wanted to see my xray, why dont they show you!! Does your toe look normal as the other foot now? please say yes =(

@henry244 Sorry to hear about your broken toe! Ouch. My toe is perfectly normal. The only time I notice it was broken is sometimes when the weather changes. It will ache. Your body parts try very very hard to heal themselves. Your toe will be just fine.

And be sure to work that excuse about having a broken toe. Except say that you broke the Phalange bone. Or better yet... say "The Doctor" said you broke your Phalange bone. You should get SOME usefullness out of going to the doctor.

It's almost 1 day and half and its bruised on the left side of my pinky and swollen and on my right foot. It didnt happen the same way as yours though. I was lying on a bed, didnt realize foot was asleep, tried to stand up and fell down hard!! I dont think I felt it bend though. So you're saying it took 8 weeks to HEAL?! I have school in 4!! F*%^

It also takes 8 weeks for it to heal... so expect long term discomfort. My broken toe in the video from 7 months ago still has moments of bending sideways and hurting.

@SpyMOb Swollen=broken.Tape it.Tape something flat to the bottom of your foot to keep it from bending. You are making your own cast here. Even a popcicle stick would work on the cheap. You MUST keep it from bending! The bone needs to grow back together. The more the two sides touch... the faster it will heal into one bone again. For the pain...Be grumpy and pouty but tell the lady in your life (mom/wife/girlfriend) that she's beautiful. You'll have your very own dedicated nurse. Ibuprophen

@SpyMOb If it's only the toes, the doctors will not do anything anyway. (unless bones are sticking out or something severe) So save your cash and use tape. If your foot bones are broken, go to the doctor, you'll need a cast. Your big toe is the only tricky one. It's quite helpful with balance. If you broke it very badly, they may do surgery, if just a straight break then wrap it. Try to wear shoes for the next few weeks. It would be BEST to wear a shoe that does not bend.

@agBlakebaby10120 I guess techinically it does get to be a different length depending on how the bone grows back. However... you can't tell. DON'T break your toes on purpose! You will not be able to see a difference and every time the weather changes your bones hurt.

thing is, I broke mine and believe this information not exactly correct. The doctor placed gauze between my small and other toe to keep both apart and then placed tape around it, I advise anyone who does this to get an Xray to see what exactly has happened with their toe and just just and try and fix it yourself. You could regret it later in life. My opinion.

ouch!, I do that all the time, I am glad to see you splinting it, I never did, so now I have to splint it up every day or It falls behind the others and I walk on it, very painfull! So please keep your splint on for a few weeks to a few months so you won't have a permently bent toe!! It is well worth the inconvenience. Good video! Good advice!

@kittzykk Thank you! My toe is starting to feel much better and is all white again. Though it's swollen hard like a little pickle and I can't bend it yet.  Then yesterday my mother in law dropped a tread mill on her pinky toe and I ran over Matthew's big toe with a shopping cart filled with chicken feed. I felt so bad I nearly cried with him. But theirs are not broken, thank goodness!
