  • Is this really your favorite book? Not hating, but I've read quite a few of King's novels and this was one of my least favorites. But I still admire your editing expertise! I really tried to like this book. I tried to force it, but to no avail!

  • hey look!!!! this is the gears of war song!!!!! :D

  • I have my own ideas of what a movie of this book must be. So I saw 30 days of night i would mix the 79's miniseries, this 2004 movie and some ideas of "30 days" like the omnipresence of the vampires at "30 days". One good scene it would be many vampires on the air arriving to the windows like the book describes. "They didn't look at the windows, overall the didn't look the windows"... so the 2 movies becomes from the great books I like both....

  • Absoloute crap this version was. There is only one Mr Barlow and that is the one played by the late great Reggie Nalder .The Master.Look at mechandise you can get for this film, all most all feature Mr Barlow from 79 version

  • Mr. Barlow from the '79 version? Absolute bull. Have you read the book? He's not supposed to be a blue Nosferatu wannabe. He's supposed to look like a man, like all the other vampires.

I've never seen the second version, but all I know is that the first was horrible.

  • IMAxx, I have to disagree with you. I agree that the 2004 version was more inline with the book, but the first one was much better, and scarier. With regards to Barlow, the point of the director in the original was to make him more like a beast than a human, and it worked. Sorry, but as much as I like Rutger Hauer, he didn't scare me. That's what I think the director in the original was trying to accomplish more than anything. I've read the book and it's awesome. But this version sucked.

  • @iMAxxDiNOxxRaWR I've seen both versions and read the book and I think both versions where good in their own respective ways.

  • Though the remake is closer to the book, the original in 1979 was better by far. The remake is far less scary and I find it funny that in the remake, some Vampire's have glowing eyes while others do not.

  • Comment removed

  • the book is my definate fav stephen king book... but which version of the movie is better... this 1 or the old 1?

  • i can never decide, because they are both... mediocre.good... i love the book, here's to hoping an honest and awesome movie could be made some day

  • The newer version was more like the book. Who didn't think of Rutger Hauer as Barlow when reading the book, years before this version was made? Just the same, the '79 version will always be the scarier version for me, probably because I saw it when I was very young. Floating kid, undead handyman in a rockingchair & Barlow was just demonic. I did really enjoy Donald Sutherland as Straker, completely wild, insane yet cunning at the same time.

  • That's James Mason, not Donald Sutherland.

  • I agree - this stuck to the book a whole lot better. This was probably the best remake movie I've seen so far.

  • I too love this version of the movie!

I wish there were more videos of this version and less of the old version =(

  • This is great. I wish you would make more videos from this version!

  • whoa, did not imagine Matt Burke as black.

wasnt he supposed to be white with shaggy blonde hair?

  • No, I didn't. He was suppose to be white and an old man. But, just because they changed the race to one person doesn't mean anything if you ask me. This movie just stuck to the storyline better, plus you got to see Mark more in it! Even though they messed up his age too.

  • yea but the only thing that got me were all teh changes to calllaghan

  • brilliant tribute.you should do one of the original.

  • Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. But I don't like the original movie. xP

  • too bad.i thought the original was scarier, but the new one stayed more loyal to the book.i'm reading it at the moment,it's amazing!

  • this video was cool but can you make one to kings of leon "Closer" I think that song works better with the movie, I tell you what I'll subscribe to you to see if you can I think it would be awsome.

  • Hm, I could try. I don't have too many clips anymore though...I have to find that song too.

  • thanks for posting this...i love this movie so much...i love the novel more though:) anway do you think you could post the entire movie...please...that would be fantastic......

  • Sorry I don't post up full movies. I'm already getting a lot of my stuff deleted so yeah. I'm glad you liked the video though!

  • I actually liked the newer version of Salem's Lot better. Thanks for the upload.

  • Thanks I'm glad you liked it.

  • in the novel ben not die, he's survive but in this movie (2004) hes die

  • In the 2004 movie you don't know whether or not he dies...They're trying to bring him back to life during the end credits and you don't know what happens. Also why did you bother saying that? I mean I know some people haven't read the books, but why do you have to randomly say that?

  • Your right, sorry for the people haven't read book yet.

  • This version was definitely much better but I didn't like the fact that Ben kills Father Callahan. I agree that we do not know the fate of Ben at the end of the book, but if you read the Dark Tower series you find out what happens to Father Callahan and 'Salems Lot was just the beginning.

  • this is the gears of war song...sweet..

  • Ah yes the song playing during the commercial of Gears of War. The song was out a bit longer than the game I believe though, but anyways I love this song. :D

  • The song was out in the 70's, I think that's just a lil longer then Gears Of War. Tears for Fears did the original and Gary Jules made it cool. Cheers.

  • good job on this and good choice of song. i really liked this book of stephen king the most. and the 70s tv series is the scariest i've ever seen about vampires.

  • Yep, the 70s tv series certain took a new light on how truly freaky vampires were and I respect it for that.

  • these vampires in the tv show were very scariest ...yellow eyes , etc

  • salem's lot is one of stephen king's best novels. defintely in my top 5! just another one of his books i can't read at night. haha!and i agree, this version of the film is so much better.

  • Ah finally someone that agrees with me that has read the book. Lol.

This is my all time favorite novel! It just makes me happy I don't know why...Hahaha.

  • is there any way u can post the whole movie?

  • Nope sorry. I refuse to upload whole movies onto this account.

  • ok i'll just see if its at Movies and More

  • I plan on seeing this film. I hear the head vampire talks in this, unlike the 1979 version where he makes annoying animal sounds. This version looks like its closer to the book in that respect. in the book, Barlow is really manipulative, playing on peoples hopes and aspirations. For example, how he takes Dud Rogers.

  • Yeah! I love the book better than both movies lol. Salem's Lot is my all time favorite novel. <3

  • I love the song and especially the movie. Great combination! :D

  • Aw thanks! I'm glad you liked it!

  • I like this version more then the older too.

It's so much more drammatic, not just horror.

For example, the scene when Mike pays a visit to Matt in the first one is only kind of scary but in this version it broke my heart. How lost Mike looked and how he reacted seeing his reflection in the mirror. In the 70s version the vampires were just evil heartless guys, here they appear corrupted but so lost and longing (for the humanity taken from them, maybe) at the same time...

  • Yep! I agree with you completely. :D

  • does anyone have this movie on the tube to watch in full?

  • Nope Sorry.

  • good^^

  • Thanks I'm glad you liked it!

  • I love this version much more then the older one. Please upload more clips from this awesome movie.

  • I won't upload full movies sorry. I might upload my favorite scene, but I like my youtube account I want to keep it.

  • I like when Mark beats up Danny =D is that in this movie?I've never seen the movie =P

  • Mark doesn't beat up Danny in either movies. xD

Though it's either Danny or Ralfy that shows up at his window at night and he puts a cross on his face and he flies away screaming. :D

  • Where can I get a copy of the new version?

  • Um Wal-Mart?

  • hes one of my fav actors, too (sry for the bad english =-P)

  • we spell it m-a-r-c

    but just usually not always

    the video is great

ive got to say this again

    dan byrd is real cool

  • Lol thank again!

Yes Dan Byrd is really amazing. He's one of my favorite actors.

  • i thought m-a-r-c, cause a friend told me that its correct so

im from germany, i dont know much english

    XD

  • Lol no problem. Mark is how we spell it here. Though some people do spell their name Marc as well. xD

  • oh thx

    and sry... marc

  • wow....I didn't know there WAS a newer version....shows how much I know, lol! Great video though!

  • Aw, thanks I'm glad you liked it.

  • marc is really HHOOOOTTTT

    and cute

    WHO is the actor??

  • Ah isn't he. His characters name is Mark not Marc. : D

The actor's name is Dan Byrd.

  • Great video. Love the song. And Marc is soo hot!!!! I watch this movie constantly!!!!

  • Lol, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

  • I luv this movie. but i cant find it anywhere.

does anyone know where i can get it.

  • Blockbuster? That's where I bought mine. : D

  • It was on tnt two nights ago.

  • You might be able to get the movie at Best Buy. Have you tried there yet?

  • not yet. thanks for the suggestions

  • I absolutley adore this movie. I can't believe that there are people that didn't like it. It's one of my three favorite movies of all times.

Your MV for it is great to. It did justice. ^^

  • Yay another fan of this version of the movie! : D

It's not that they hate it, I think they're just in love with older movies that they can't see the light to the real plot line Stephen King had for 'Salem's Lot.

Aw, I'm glad you liked my video!

  • Your wrong.

Its that we saw the 1979 movie as kids (I was 8 when it aired originally) its part of our childhood.

Iv read everything king ever wrote. Love the book, love the movie (79) never seen this one. It risks fucking with my childhood, much like the new star wars movies ruined fond memories for me from my pre teen years of the first star wars films. We know the faults of the 79 movie, we just do not care. most of us aw the movie before we ever read the book.

  • Um, nothing you said proved I'm wrong. All you stated was that you didn't want the new movie to ruin your childhood view on the old one. Considering neither one of us can technically be wrong on which one is better since opinions are never wrong, but I never said I didn't like the old version. I enjoyed it. I just think the new one follows the story line to the novel more that's all.

  • Actually, I had a fever of 103 and was in day 2 of swine flu when I typed that.

It should of read, I think your wrong.

Your are right, opinions can not be wrong. I was not trying to prove you wrong, just offering another view.

Would of been easier to read and understand what I meant had I included all the words :p

  • Haha, well I hope that you feel better. I do agree that the original was scarier though. You're right about that. I'm just a novel buff and like things to be close to the novels. : D

  • @Trace1289

God, I still love this vid here. It displays the tragic feel of the film which I don't think the detractors really wanted to pick up on. And look Rob Lowe gives at 1:01 reminds me of myself with the bad events that I went through mid summer.

    Outstanding stuff.

  • @grvtykllr

I saw both (the early version as a kid) and enjoyed them both. I'm not the only one, either.

  • you should try to upload the whole movie, I've always wanted to see it and cant find it anywhere :-(

  • Lol, I'm not sure if I'll upload the whole movie. I bought mine at Blockbuster when it first came out, though I just have a keen eye for Stephen King movies and books so I attend to find them everywhere. : D

  • Awesome!

You should do more of these!

  • Lol, I will! I'm glad you liked it.

  • cool vid!! i liked the original film better, but the new one had a lot of good stuff. (like much improved character development)

    anyway, GREAT JOB!!!

  • Lol, glad you liked it!

  • I actually think the 2004 version is better, as much as I like occult horror and the fact that the original film is more creepy, the more recent one has better character depth and more philosophy behind it. Lowe's acting here is pretty underrated.

Good choice of a song; I think the difference between the old one and the new is that the latter is more tragic in root essence---fits the mood very well.

  • Lol, yes there's that. Then there's also the simple fact that the new version follows the storyline to the novel a lot better than the old one. I love the old one don't get me wrong, but I hate how they slaughtered Mark Petrie's character... It made me sad. Y.Y

-Cough- I'm an enormous Rob Lowe fan. : D He's just plan out amazing in my eyes. I think his best performance was as Nick Andres in The Stand. Nick was my favorite character from The Stand. xD

  • greay job;)

  • Thanks! I'm glad you liked it!

  • i think it's great:) I love the book and the movie, too

  • Aw, thanks! I'm glad someone likes it. : D
