As a reverend and a soocial worker who works with the elderly who suffer from dementia etc. They may not remember who they are or what they are doing now, but hey can tell you many a beautiful story of the lives from bith, through teenage to middle age. They tell me with so much love, why, because I listen to them. I then go away and cry. Please remember this song, listen to them, hold their hands and laugh and cry with them. Blessings Rev Jack

My sister and her daughter sang this song at the first anniversary mass for our late mum.

Both of our parents are gone now-Dad died 8 months previously. The house now lies deserted as it says in the song. I miss my parents so much.

Thank you all for your replies. There are some people who do not like Daniel's singing, He brought me comfort many many times and fond memories of he past. It is very nostalgic and comforting music.

I don't listen to it as often any more, but his songs bring great memories of some brilliant times.

You can not fault him for doing that.

Our family home in Ireland has been sold recently ,this song my dear Mother use to sing to us as children ,is so relevent and appropriate now ,indeed we, her children ,have be flung to different corners of the world but still hold precious the memory of our childhood home.

I'm so glad that it brings a form of comfort to you. For me this song brings back the times that I would visit my Nan and how she would greet us, those greetings are a fading memory and so are the waves goodbye. I can see her in the window or on the door waving or welcoming us. The placed she lived is obviously someone elses now and I would long to go back to those days to have one of her greetings and tell her how much I loved her.

i never knew my grandparents from both sides of the family my dads parents were in germany met them once in my life when i was 16 now 52 and my mums parents her mum died when she was only 10 and her dad died when she was 16 so i dont know what it is like to have a nan but i am sure they are watching over me and they are in a better place that song was awsome i want that one to so if anyone finds it let us know thanks god bless all
