As for me, I was diagnosed with Nephrotic syndrome back when i was 3. I've never gotten rid of it as to say, and i am 16 now, so its been 16yrs. Ive had 3 biopsy's in my life, each one determining the worse of my kidney's. When I was 11, i was further diagnosed with FSGS Nephrotic syndrome with over 50% of each kidney being damaged. Last yr my kidney's failed again, but with yet another experimental treatment, im a lil bttr. still spilling a lot of protein, but a lil bttr none the less.
im 25 after chronic peripheral edema for several months ive been recently diagnosed with NS and undergoing trial treatment with steroid therapy dont know where ill stand after, and the possible relapses have me greatley concerned aswell. did u undergo steroid cycle aswell im having all types of reactions to it.
i too have have fsgs, my dr at the renal clinic has me on 100 mgs of hyzaar and 20 mgs of lisinopril, everyday, plus 40 mgs of lasix, every other day for potasuim. so far this is working. they had me on expensive cellcept, didn't work, neither did prednisone and i hope i never have to take that again. i hope u do get better, or at least get those protiens down, but as my dr says, fsgs is unpredictable.
yeah i understand how u feel. my doctor tried me on cellcept once but that didnt work either...lets see i go to duke university and my doc have me on 250mg cyclospirine 2x a day, 20mg of lisinopril, 100mg of cozaar, 40mg of prednisone evry other day, 1 tablet of iron 2x a day, 20mg of protonix 2x a day, and i vitamin...my protein is staying at a 3+ right now tho which is better than anything.....but yeah i hope to get bttr too and i hope u feel bttr.....but as its said...fsgs is unpredictable.
it gets will usually determine what they will do from then on, so take it one step at a time. Something like a kidney transplant of dialysis will most likely always be a last resort. also the only operation that i believe that hell most likely have(besides the last resort), is a biopsy evry 4-5 yrs that you have it. As for meds, there are many different types that they cantry, including cyclospirine and such. They will most likely find the right set for your son.
ok. in normal cases, nephrotic can be treated with medications, usually involving prednisone. I its not that bad and can be controled. Most of the times it even goes away. For some caseslike mine, it can stick with you for a long time (me 13yrs). Ive been in and out of hte hospital for a long time, but normally things go ok. As of yet, i havnt had to wrry about getting a transplant or anything like that. for parents though it can be very stressful, put just stay strong....depending on how bad
my son is 5 and have this syndrome hes been in and out from the hospital so far not respandint to any medication ,is it gonna get better or we have to deal with this forever ?
Your doctor will normally prescribe prednisolone first. This controls the disease in most cases. There are other medications available after this, but please consult your doctor....
You should be asking your doctor, not asking for help online...
