U2 are brill too, Simple minds are superb, but who the FOOK types, "the Bee Gees" got the crowd going! what fookin planet you on? it just shows ya the saaadoos that go to Live Aid n Shit, real fans cannot get tickets cause of the monguls who like Sting / Genesis / Status Quo, I walk away!
Was there, and right a the front and in the middle! Remember when the turnstiles opened, we ran the full length of the pitch and were stopped about 10 feet from the end. Sting was on stage as we entered (singing ?) before the concert started. Then we were allows to get to the barrier. It was just mad, people being pulled out from the crowd.
Thats absolutely right mate......we were there too....Sting was soundchecking when the gates opened....we all ran towards the stage and security were tellin us to walk!!.......NO CHANCE!!!! lol......i remember Eurythmics bein superb too....The Bee Gees got the crowd goin....and every body watcin on TV knew Stevie Wonder would be turnin up as a surprise...but no one in the stadium had a clue.....when he suddenly appeared the place just erupted!
Apparently Sting had to fly in after a gig in Germany the night before, try and get some sleep, turn up at the stadium that morning to soundcheck using hired/borrowed gear (the band's equipment was on its way to another gig), play his set and then fly back to Germany to soundcheck for and play another gig that very night.
Wow - first concert I ever went to - was between the stage and central lighting tower (must have been mad looking at that crowd) forgot just how good their performances were and the atmosphere of that day - also feel lucky to have been there, having missed out on Live Aid!!
No words!80000 people jumping ,great stunning live version(charlie's guitar and mick keybaord didn't work 4 the whole song!!)Goosebump...Simple Minds best live band ever with Muse!!
