  • Hello, Ill be arriving in South Korea for teaching on August 18th. One of my main worries is the living environment that is provided for you. I don't mean to be intrusive but could you show us around the apartment? I just want to get an idea for the size of the place that I will be spending a year in. Other than that, I think that your videos are great and very informative. Keep it up!

  • @mseitz2389 Thanks!!! Oh great!! Good luck and I hope you enjoy it here !! That's actually around the same time I came here last year... I have a video of my apartment on my channel, you should check it out. The apartment is ok. It's very very very tiny but has everything you need and utilites are not that expensive.

  • @savedgirl001 Hi, thats a very informative video, i checked ur apartments video too, its good, well i have few questions regarding to teaching eng in korea, its a long questions [sorry] bt pls answer them, i want to teach eng in korea too, right now i am doing my Bachelors degree in english , i am from INDIA, my first question is , which school is better private or public ? 2. how is the work load , and how many hours you have to work daily ? 3. tell me about salary , Thanks;;

  • Hi,

there is another English teacher, charlycheer, you kinda remind me of her.

She is also African american, and she is very active on youtube.

maybe you want to say hello to her!

  • @dufrhd5 Hi, yes I've checked out her channel. I will say hi. Thanks ;-)

  • @savedgirl001 So, you don't use any of the Korean hair products the citizens use?? Can you use them? And if you do, is it bad for your hair?? Is the water harsh over in Asia??

  • @Gia90000 Hi, No I don't use Korean products on my hair. I prefer to use products for black hair. Whether the water is harsh, I don't think so but I'm probably not the best person to ask. There is a thread on dave's esl cafe that talks about that topic though. Youtube wont allow me to post the link.

  • :D

  • what do you do on the weekends and with your time off from school? also, how are you maintaining your hair are you relaxed or natural? thanks in advance.

  • @miZZPortah When I'm off school (and I do something) I go to Seoul, go shopping, go to events, meet up with friends and so on. There is quite a bit to do here I think it just depends on your preferences and location.

  • @miZZPortah My hair is relaxed. I was natural when I first came here but I couldn't keep it up. I think natural is beautiful just not on me :-). There are African hair salons which can take care of all your styling needs in Seoul and other places usually near US military bases. You can also buy black hair products and hair from the as well but I have found they are like 2 times the price. So I have my family send me hair and products as well my food seasoning lol ( sorry that was a random)

  • @savedgirl001 thanks hun this is helpful! i'm relaxed right now and was just wondering what my options were-i'm gonna try to bring as much as i can with me and like you said just have family send me whatever i can't get once i get there

  • Hello. The info was very useful. I am currently in my last year in college (I finish in December) and want to be in SoKo by Spring next year. When do you recommend applying and how long was your process? I'm concerned that I'I apply early, but will have to tell the recruiters that I'm not finished with school and can't come out until later :/ Thank You.

  • @Missticklotus - Hi! I think it depends if you find a "good" recruiter. Once I found a recruiter the whole process was like 6 weeks from 1rst interview to getting the visa. However, it took me a couple months of researching, posting resumes and interviewing before I found my recruiters. I think you should wait until a few months before graduation to start applying. For ex. you need your degree apostilized and so on.....

  • @Missticklotus ( 2nd part of post below) I also could not come when my recruiters suggested and had to come later. However, I had all my paperwork . Recruiters always asked how much documentation I had. Also, bear in mind though that the rules have changed though so you should also make sure you are not too late either ( sorry just thought of that). I would keep researching and contact a recruiter and see what their time frame is even if you are not ready yet. I hope this helped......

  • @savedgirl001 Thank you! I will do that. :)

  • yeah jobs are hard to find especially here in new york wish i could try those programs but I'm only a permanent resident in usa. Did ur epic program have a training camp to prepare u? because there are other viewers who im watching that are in the talk program and that one has it...good luck on the rest of ur journey

  • @Fhenry Hi! I wouldn't call my training "a training camp" we did 25 hours of training over one weekend. The training course was ummmm ok... I guess..... I had already been teaching for two months by the time I had the training. It was good to learn a little bit more about my program and get some tips and materials for teaching. I wouldn't say my training was extremely helpful though. After working in the job for a while you kinda "get it" and so its not so hard anyway.
