Quiet down (We are the dollars and cents and the pounds and pence) (And the mark and yen and yeah, we're going to) Why don't you quiet down? (Crack your little souls) (We're going to crack your little souls) Why don't you quiet down? (We are the dollars and cents and the pounds and pence) And the pounds and pence and yeah, we're going to) Why don't you quiet down? (Crack your little souls) (Crack your little souls)
I love the jazzier, comparably straightforward tracks from this time period: Dollars and Cents, In Limbo, the classical guitar on Knives Out... very good.
after i finally understood the concept of different dimensions and the universe as patterns interacting with infinite patterns i couldn't stop listening to this song.
When Eminem was playing continuously on Mtv, Radiohead were creating far superior music beyond my wildest imaginations during that period. I was only 12 at the time & I loved Limp Bizkit, haha. anyway, those were good days & I'm glad I got into Radiohead later on with the years. They're Genius.
The vocals at 2:30 are brilliant. they should have made that into the chorus, it's a shame they only used it once in the song. Although it makes you appreciate it all the more.
@ThomYorkesHead if yar a str8head and ply an insturment. then good luck cos ya aint gonna be any fucking good at songwriting.. experiment at lesat once in this fucking gloomy world
Radiohead made OK Computer, Kid A and Amnesiac (their best albuns in my opinion) almost entirely under the effect of hallucinogens. Just like The Beatles with Sgt. Pepper's, Revolver and Abbey Road.
@FriedChickenofDeath6 according to what? a tabloid newspaper? the most I've heard of any of the members of Radiohead doing was smoking some pot.... sure they may have messed around with hallucinogens too.... but "almost entirely under the effect" sounds a bit bullshit to me... thom yorke said himself, they'd end up sounding like Bryan Adams if they used drugs....
@FriedChickenofDeath6 if you've watched some early thom yorke interviews you'd realize he doesn't need drugs to write these lyrics, the dude has issues and is aware how fucked the world is. I'm sure he's taken a sorts of drugs but real creative people don't need drugs when they realize life is fucked up enough.
@JesusEclipse I'm not saying he NEEDS drugs to be good. Just saying he takes drugs and this habit has a clear influence in his job. The man is fuckin good by himself, when trippin, he's just insane.
@FriedChickenofDeath6 actually thom doesn't do drugs. there's an interview i saw of jonny and he said their drug of choice is aspirin, and that they experimented with psychedelics early on in their career and were unimpressed with the results.
im a hip hop junkie but i love this shit...and i always dug radiohead. i think i need to take a few hits of cid and see them live...sounds like a good idea.
@bassmanUSSR Technically, Radiohead thought that Kid A was the second-rate album. Word is that they put all the songs they thought were better on Amnesiac and all the rest on Kid A (because they were recorded at exactly the same time). Personally, I think KA is better but they're both fantastic.
@bassmanUSSR I agree. This is my favorite album when asked out of all Radiohead albums. Don't get me wrong each and every Radiohead album is awesome and has a special place, but this one speaks the language of my soul.
love this song so much. there's nothing else sounds like it, not even by radiohead. it's like the song is from a whole other planet. absolutely adore those strings between 3:00 and 3:30
Amnesiac is a reflection of enlightenment & violence as its descending value!
Its when you find out that, well....fuck, we ARE the DOLLARS & CENTS, when the fuckers at wallstreet ONLY count MILLIONS & TRILLIONS!!! And guess what? we're gonna CRACK your little souls...CRACK!(like when porcelain brakes)
''I want peace and honesty...i wanna wander the promissed land, and maybe wander he children's land and theeeere theeeere we can be freeeeeeeeeeee!!!''
those two albums are in the shadow of Ok Computer, Kid A and the Bends. Hail to the Thief and Amnesiac are really good but did not progress radiohead like Ok Computer and Kid A did.
i don't care if they progressed radiohead like ok compurer or kid a did. they're still sick albums with their own distinct sound and atmosphere and they deserve every bit as much attention. progressed..not progressed...the bottom line is no other album by any other band sounds like hail to the thief or amnesiac. how is that not unique and original?
Uhm, I find it to be a good representation of Radiohead's more synthesized era, which was excellent. It's mellow and is for a certain mood that allows you to truly appreciate the album.
Word, I have just heard, Where Bluebirds Fly. good song. I am trying to find that song on, the most gigantic lying mouth of all time, where like, theres like green telephone poles that go by, and its like, in slow motion, the backround is all black except the poles and some white blurry wires, and u hear this amazing slow bleep like tune in the backround, but I have listened to ever soundtrack ever made by Thom and radiohead, and none have anything in any relevance to it... strange.
That would be great especially if you could do it as individual songs (as people have already uploaded the album in parts). Thanks again. Out of interest what are your thoughts on the album. I haven't listened to this album properly but I have heard every radiohead album apart from this one.
