Thank you for your support, bigrider2806. Yes, boats are expensive, and ours is very dear to us. I was a relief that the winter of 2010/11, in spite of all the snow, was not so devastating as the previous year. Things are getting back to normal now, but lest not forget. My family in Cleator Moor are just about over the flooding there, and our friends in Morpeth are still counting the cost here (we are from the North East too). No arguing with the force of nature.

i have a boat at royal quay marina Newcastle and would have been very happy if anyone had done that for me in similar circumstances . boats like houses are expensive things and i am not a mad millionaire !

Thank you Zanderzoot! Isn't it great to see Ambleside recovered so quickly? Tourism has taking a bit of a battering this year, but lets hope that it is just a blip and things will get back onto an even keel now.  We're taking advantage of the good weather and getting the repairs done on our boat that the floods caused, just the awning and bathing platform, thankfully.

I am fully aware of the plight of the Lake District flood victims - some of them are family. The clip was posted to reassure my fellow berth-holders that most of their crafts were safe and in good hands, as many are not local. The Water Edge Inn is a regular haunt, so seeing the carnage for a second winter was most distressing, I gained no pleasure recording the devastation, but had a sincere purpose, and now I feel disgusted at your remarks, not to mention your extremely offensive language.

I live in Ambleside and a lot of the 'locals' were wandering around looking at the mess too but I guessed you already thought him a prat.
