I dismantled the receiver from the underside. The hot shoe part of the receiver can then be unscrewed from behind the circuit board. The receiver is destroyed, though, because I had to break some sort of connection to get behind the board. Prior to doing this, it seemed to work well. The flash never fired w/o warning. I am a novice when it comes to manual flash settings, so nothing looked good, but that is my fault. I am sending this one back for a replacement.

I was given the "OK" by Gadget Infinity to take the receiver apart so that I can get it off my flash. I may look at an alternative between the Cactus and Pocket Wizard. The v4 doesn't operate in TTL, and I am not very good with doing manual flash.

Howdy did you ever get the Cactus V4 off? What are your impressions of the Cactus trigger system? Does it misfire alot? Does it work anygood?
