I find that after watching a few League vids there seems to lots of comments from Union fans. I don't think i've watched one rugby union vid in my life. So union fans why are coming on here and slating our form of rugby? Why do you find yourself watching League vids? Oh and the point about your sport being better because your sport is more popular is a joke. Football (Soccer) is the most popular sport in the world! Just goes to show popularity isn't everything.
Rugby league world cup 2008 Was awesome. It was great waking up In England U.K watching the best players in the world Perform, ROLL ON 2013 WORLD CUP!!!!
re, 6:10. why would that be a penalty? it's a body check. It's not high. If you're a rugby union commentator, stick to your own slow, weak sport and don't try to tell us how to run our superior game. Get back to posh school. Big hits are not for the over-privileged.
Just so you know Rugby league is different. Rugby UNION is the more popular one. Rugby LEAGUE is played with thirteen players, whilst rugby UNION is played with 15. Rugby LEAGUE is popular in England and Australia everywhere else in the world its not popular. Rugby UNION is played all over the world.
This style of rugby doesn't seem to have any of the variety of situations you get in union, it's just the same pattern over and over and over again. Yawn.
@adamclark1972uk International Rugby Union is better to watch. I agree with you on that, purely from a competitive point of view. but Rugby League as a game is much more entertaining.
@IrishDub18 you are quite correct Rugby Union stands as the finest example of the oval ball game. It champions the skills of purposly kicking the ball out on the full, falling over, dropping the ball, rolling around in the mud, an inability to make gaps, run lines, pass accurately and rely on penalties because tries are just too complicated to make. All of these things are absent from Rugby League. the schoolyard code is far better than the proffesional sportsman version.
@terrortorn oh because in league players are immune to falling over? they dont drop the ball? they dont make contact with the ground? THEY FUCKIN HUMP IT THOUGH...... they dont kick it out on purpose?
oh yes and union players cant run a line or pass or make gaps.
honestly mate, fuck off you idiot, thats the stupidest comment ive ever seen. all league players do is run......boooooring. its just never ending screen passes.
if league was so good im sure it would be more popular. speaks for itself
@IrishDub18 Kick and Clap is popular because it is an audience participation sport. The crowd is included in all its plays. One second the ball is under a writhing mass of fat blokes next second its booted into the crowd for them to play with. Outstanding! The technical skill of kicking out on the full just blows me away. How do you keep awake watching this style over content fest. What would you union fans do if your players figured out how to keep the ball on the pitch.
@terrortorn stop arguing mate, there are tons of people who enjoy both codes of rugby. its just personal preference, but for someone who likes both (like me) it annoys when people have to bag the type they don't like. Rugby is rugby, we should be making fun of soccer and how gay it is
@gindaer Rugby is not Rugby. Union has a long history of prejudice against League in the UK and France and more importantly the money and influence to make a lot of noise about it . If the truth is known League and Football has far better relations than League and Union. The existence of League is testimony to the self serving hypocrisy of the English Union and has important social and values that go beyond sport.
@terrortorn the only fat blokes are the ones in the front row. u know, that non existant and irrelevant thing in league?
you see rugby league is its own downfall. its just the same situation over and over again, they only get tested in one way. union you could be dominating in nearly all aspects, but if you have a weakness in one you can lose.
your first comment was so stupid and proves league is for people who dont have the brains for union
@IrishDub18 Northern Rugby clubs played union unchanged for decades. After 1895 clubs still played Union rules up to about 1907. You and Union still fails to grasp that RL removed the yobbish "skills" and evolved the sport from little more than a brawl to a professional game. You hold tight to the crap and call it intellectual. Union lacks in every department except marketing and with such has proven that you can polish a turd. Type in Bradford Bulls v Wasps. Beaten at your own game. Enjoy.
@terrortorn beaten at our own game?? that vid is a sevens game u idiot.... man u are taking the biscuit.
anyways, league is becoming obsolete, so in the future there will be no need for this discussion. the only league players who can handle union are backs, lol a league forward would get crushed in union.
however irelands flanker sean o brien would stroll into any league side in the world.
@IrishDub18 I just said that only fat cunts play union. So why would I care if you beat us at union? I hope Australia goes shit in union so its popularity goes down.
@WINSLOVE1 but the only fat people that do play are in the front row. and their bodies are changing anyway. i would call them absolute tanks rather than fat cunts.
do me a favour, google, cian healy, bismarck du plesis and "the beast" who plays for south africa. that makes up a nice front row, and if those guys are fat, i would really feel bad about myself.
oh, if union players are fat, its impressive some run sub 10.50.
i never said i disliked league by the way. nrl is good
@IrishDub18 Yeah I don't even know why the fuck I'm arguing with you. I agree with you for the most part. I'm just more of a league fan. Probably because I just grew up with it.
@IrishDub18 Dear oh Dear oh Dear. Schoolboy game, schoolboy appreciation, its only natural. If Rugby League ever became obsolete where would Union get its inspiration from. You have tried 7's, 12's and 14's the only thing left is 13 but its already been done over 100 years ago, by us, result! I believe Dan Brown used the Rugby Union as Inspiration for the Da Vinci code," the biggest con of man". Its amazing how many Union fans appear around World Cup time.
@IrishDub18 Australia has 12 and 14 a side union competitions. Why do you think they do that? British Union clubs would not dare. Attendance figures fluctuate for many reasons none of which have anything to do with competition from the large corporate hospitality crowd that attends Union internationals. Union is a master of marketing only, the World Cup is about business not sport. Look at the history of the French RL and the role of the French RU in its destruction, then talk of inferiority.
@terrortorn i cant find anything on this reduced numbers union. i remember a while back they were thinking of some hybrid? is this what you are talking about.
i dont understand what u mean by marketing. im sure if people wanted to play league they would. its not a coincidence that this hybrid you are talking of is in australia, where league is the popular sport, not union
@IrishDub18 type in super 12 rugby/ super 14 rugby. Its not a hybrid. The marketing of Union is a major reason behind its popularity. It has huge budgets, TV ad's and heavily bias media associations but more importantly socially/culturally marketed. If its not on offer you cant do it, if schools don't play it you miss out. League is popular in Australia because its had a fair crack of the whip. No social disadvantages based on class.

@terrortorn HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Super 12 and Super 14 aren't 12 and 14 a side comps you dumb cunt. ROFL. The Super 12 was the first professional international provincial/state of the southern hemisphere featuring 5 teams from NZ, 4 from SA and 3 from Aus (5+4+3=12). In 2006 it was expanded with 1 team from SA and 1 from Aus and became the Super 14.This year, Melbourne was added and there are now 5 sides per country but the number has been dropped and is simply called Super 15. 12's and 14's!! HAHAHA
@klempie1980 You are quite correct about the 12's and 14's. My mistake. I thought they were trying something new but fair play its just the same crap in a different wrapper. My apologies.
@klempie1980 Well perhaps you can give me some Union survival advice. Usually after the first 20 seconds, about the time a player first boots it into the crowd I become so utterly underwhelmed at the mediocre skills and over reactions of commentators I fear for my sanity and good taste. How do you Switch off and cope? Does wearing a cotton shirt, with bold embroidery help. Wait is alcohol the key, the beer goggle affect?
@terrortorn I understand. Union: Scrums, Lineouts, Ball-carrying, Drop Goals. League: Run at the gain line and try and break it. You're a checkers kind of guy. I prefer chess myself.
@klempie1980 Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ha ah ha ah ha haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. yet again sorry. You dont comment on Union for a living do you. That standard of hyperbole is worthy of the BBC. If Tom Cruise ever watched Union all you would hear is " SHOW ME THE RUGBY, SHOW ME THE RUGBY"

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. Union is bigger because people like it more. The people have spoken and league is not....well it's not in the same league.
@terrortorn BTW, given that league had a 93 year (1898) professional headstart on union (1995), why hasn't league managed to outdo union in the marketing stakes in the last 16 years? Surely marketing would be the bread and butter for a professional code? * chuckles
@klempie1980 Please, you dont build international set ups like Twickers on "amateur sport", dont even try to get away with that one. Union players have always been given rewards for playing. The RL have always been honest about it. Professionalism is a buzz word for the Union, a reason to come clean all along. Its only since the 1990's that in the UK you have had many fully professional league squads.
@terrortorn Really? Then why is it that 20 years ago, after playing for their club or country, the vast majority of players went back to their day jobs on Monday? No one's denying that players were remunerated, it just wasn't their JOB. First RWL World Cup (1954). First Rugby World Cup (1987). Surely if union was always about making money, it'd have been a lot sooner. Yes. Union has always been about maknig money. * rolls eyes
@terrortorn League gameplay:No defending team shall be allowed to tackle the attacking team more than six consecutive times.Further, the tackler may not contest the ball on the ground and must give the tackled player a kiss after letting him get up to pass the ball to his mate.To keep the girls from bruising too much, the referee shall give possession to the defending team because they are clearly not butch enough to get the ball on their own.You ever seen a team defending 20 phases? It's brutal.
@klempie1980 So0rry HaaHaaaAAhh soRRy oooHHoHHH oh ho oh ho oh ho. Sorry could not read or type for laughing HAAAhahhaAAAA. contest the ball aka stand on a prostrate players gonads or face. Truly brave and manly. Not!! but very playground, its obvious why the discerning got rid of it.
@klempie1980 no the drunken brawl is union and tyson is league. Union is less formidable than League. Lets face it if Chuck Norris played Rugby he would choose Union as League is too tough. As Rugby Union master and Rugby League player of repute Jonathan Davies said when asked League or Union what is better. " well I never got cold playing Rugby League".
@terrortorn Typical modern international union forwards. sporting - heroes. net / rugby-heroes / displayhero. a sp?HeroID =6072 espnscrum . com/ southafrica/rugby /story/ 116908 . ht ml Are you seriously going to continue playing the fat card? Might've been valid...I dunno, 10 years ago? Anyway, I'm of to bed.
@klempie1980 As well you should be that one try thrill athon of England v Scotland today must have exhausted your entertainment reflexes. As Russell Crowe owner of South Sidney Rabbitohs said to the crowd during that match" ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED". the answer was No!..................................................
@fjbutch but then you end up with the crouch, touch and engage crap and three minutes of play going nowhere as they form and reform the scrum. It should be left as it is as it works and makes the game flow alot better.
'''I am an Aussie Rules fan''''[, but I do enjoy a good game of League or Union, but can anyone tell me why Rugby scrums are much cleaner and much more fair than League...When the fella feeds the ball in League,, it hardly ever makes the tunnel, just glances off the first blokes foot and off they go...seems like a waste of time and energy to me...cheers....
@fjbutch In league there is no contesting for the ball in scrums, however feeds the ball is guna get it back, basiclly to speed the game up.In rugby union scrums can collapse and have to re-set etc slows down play, plus scrums have been known to break necks if something goes wrong, pointless in both codes in my opinion.
@fjbutch the scrum in league is a waste of time. they might as well let the feeding side a quick tap. i'm hoping they'll bring back the concept of the scrum being a potential contest between the two packs...ie the front 6 batter the sh*t out of eachother for posession of the ball.
@optimusumitpo I think the purpose of scrums in leaugue is to provide more space for the attacking team's backline, you can't do that with a quick tap.
I've played Union for as long as I can remember, but I tell you what... there's handling skills in this video that the top union players can only dream of!
@billyocrfc You're right. I should have written "try actually reading my comment". My original comment was meant to point out that although my natural bias is toward rugby union, I still feel that this clip displays handling skills that many "top" rugby union players couldn't produce (with the probable exception of the All Blacks). It has nothing to do with the level to which I've played. Hence I pointed out that you had a "reading fail" - to use the en-vogue vernacular. Hope that clears it up.
@LewisFall saying that no union players 'except the all blacks' could do that skill is the most retardded thing ive ever heard.. you clearly don't know alot about rugby, thinking that just because the all blacks are the best team atm that only they can offload out of a tackle
@billyocrfc You clearly are a stubborn "union is everything" person who's blind to any point of view that doesn't fit his particular paradigm. Frankly, I'm annoyed with myself for entering into a debate with a person who can't use capital letters, commas, full stops and correct English - I should have known better. Given the dross served up by Wales and England the past two weekends and the standard of the 6 nations this year, I stand by my statement. Union will always be the better game though.
@LewisFall don't try and act clever, noone gives a shit about capital letters or punctuation or capital letters, we are on youtube, it isn't a English essay. Dick.
I'm not a 'union is everything' person at all, i love rugby league, i only play union but i probably watch league more. The fact is that your statement as totally wrong. Yea this video is really skillful, but to say a union player couldn't do it is just stupid.
@billyocrfc I have no idea how you've come to that conclusion... But "lol"? Seriously? I've figured you out now. Shouldn't you spend less time replying to youtube comments and more time finishing your homework?
@jaegerhund It used to be legal, but players like billy slater (the guy in the video who did it) and other fullbacks in the legal eventually caused it to be illeagalized as players were suffering shots to the head and it was considered to dangerous, and now leading with the feet will normally get you a trip to the judicery.
hey aussies, shame we are world cup champions and 4 nations champions. you guys have to be the worst sore losers, refusing to talk to the media after the game again
Tomahawks will be in the 2013 world cup, the US is growing in league and union.

In 2006 it was expanded with 1 team from SA and 1 from Aus and became the Super 14.This year, Melbourne was added and there are now 5 sides per country but the number has been dropped and is simply called Super 15. 12's and 14's!! HAHAHA
klempie1980 5 months ago
@klempie1980 * but the number has been dropped and is simply called Super Rugby.

@klempie1980 I have to bow to your knowledge of RU if not your foul mouthed comments. Its still a game for little boys as your language proves.
terrortorn 5 months ago
@terrortorn Little boys tend to argue their position by slagging off the opposing argument without all the facts. They invite derogatory put downs.
klempie1980 5 months ago
@klempie1980 You are quite correct about the 12's and 14's. My mistake. I thought they were trying something new but fair play its just the same crap in a different wrapper. My apologies.
terrortorn 5 months ago
@terrortorn Apology half accepted. What it proves, is that you've never watched Super Rugby and therefore your opinion is irrelevant.
klempie1980 5 months ago
@klempie1980 Well perhaps you can give me some Union survival advice. Usually after the first 20 seconds, about the time a player first boots it into the crowd I become so utterly underwhelmed at the mediocre skills and over reactions of commentators I fear for my sanity and good taste. How do you Switch off and cope? Does wearing a cotton shirt, with bold embroidery help. Wait is alcohol the key, the beer goggle affect?
terrortorn 5 months ago
@terrortorn I understand. Union: Scrums, Lineouts, Ball-carrying, Drop Goals. League: Run at the gain line and try and break it. You're a checkers kind of guy. I prefer chess myself.
klempie1980 5 months ago

Rugby League World Cup 2008 profits - GBP2 million
Rugby World Cup 2007 profits - GBP122 million
"Rugby League World Cup" - 852000 Google hits
"Rugby World Cup" - 163 million Google hits
You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. Union is bigger because people like it more. The people have spoken and league is not....well it's not in the same league.
Go big or go home.
klempie1980 5 months ago
@terrortorn BTW, given that league had a 93 year (1898) professional headstart on union (1995), why hasn't league managed to outdo union in the marketing stakes in the last 16 years? Surely marketing would be the bread and butter for a professional code? * chuckles
klempie1980 5 months ago
@klempie1980 Please, you dont build international set ups like Twickers on "amateur sport", dont even try to get away with that one. Union players have always been given rewards for playing. The RL have always been honest about it. Professionalism is a buzz word for the Union, a reason to come clean all along. Its only since the 1990's that in the UK you have had many fully professional league squads.
terrortorn 5 months ago
@terrortorn Really? Then why is it that 20 years ago, after playing for their club or country, the vast majority of players went back to their day jobs on Monday? No one's denying that players were remunerated, it just wasn't their JOB. First RWL World Cup (1954). First Rugby World Cup (1987). Surely if union was always about making money, it'd have been a lot sooner. Yes. Union has always been about maknig money. * rolls eyes
klempie1980 5 months ago
@terrortorn League gameplay:No defending team shall be allowed to tackle the attacking team more than six consecutive times.Further, the tackler may not contest the ball on the ground and must give the tackled player a kiss after letting him get up to pass the ball to his mate.To keep the girls from bruising too much, the referee shall give possession to the defending team because they are clearly not butch enough to get the ball on their own.You ever seen a team defending 20 phases? It's brutal.
klempie1980 5 months ago
@klempie1980 So0rry HaaHaaaAAhh soRRy oooHHoHHH oh ho oh ho oh ho. Sorry could not read or type for laughing HAAAhahhaAAAA. contest the ball aka stand on a prostrate players gonads or face. Truly brave and manly. Not!! but very playground, its obvious why the discerning got rid of it.

@terrortorn "contest the ball aka stand on a prostrate players gonads or face." Brutal, isn't it?
klempie1980 5 months ago
@klempie1980 A drunken brawl is brutal a boxing match is sport. Id rather face 15 drunken fat blokes than one Mike Tyson.
terrortorn 5 months ago
@terrortorn You're saying you wouldn't be brutalised by Mike Tyson? How beeg AH you, Bruce??
klempie1980 5 months ago
@klempie1980 no the drunken brawl is union and tyson is league. Union is less formidable than League. Lets face it if Chuck Norris played Rugby he would choose Union as League is too tough. As Rugby Union master and Rugby League player of repute Jonathan Davies said when asked League or Union what is better. " well I never got cold playing Rugby League".

MELKKY 9 months ago
@fjbutch but then you end up with the crouch, touch and engage crap and three minutes of play going nowhere as they form and reform the scrum. It should be left as it is as it works and makes the game flow alot better.
smithytri89 9 months ago
Thanks for that...cheers...
.back in the 70s when I first started watching rugby, scrums were a lot tidier, but the game is a lot quicker and out the window it went....

'''I am an Aussie Rules fan''''[, but I do enjoy a good game of League or Union, but can anyone tell me why Rugby scrums are much cleaner and much more fair than League...When the fella feeds the ball in League,, it hardly ever makes the tunnel, just glances off the first blokes foot and off they go...seems like a waste of time and energy to me...cheers....
fjbutch 10 months ago
@fjbutch In league there is no contesting for the ball in scrums, however feeds the ball is guna get it back, basiclly to speed the game up.In rugby union scrums can collapse and have to re-set etc slows down play, plus scrums have been known to break necks if something goes wrong, pointless in both codes in my opinion.
MPT1983 9 months ago
@MPT1983 Thanks mate....
fjbutch 9 months ago
@fjbutch the scrum in league is a waste of time. they might as well let the feeding side a quick tap. i'm hoping they'll bring back the concept of the scrum being a potential contest between the two packs...ie the front 6 batter the sh*t out of eachother for posession of the ball.
optimusumitpo 9 months ago
@optimusumitpo I think the purpose of scrums in leaugue is to provide more space for the attacking team's backline, you can't do that with a quick tap.

I've played Union for as long as I can remember, but I tell you what... there's handling skills in this video that the top union players can only dream of!
LewisFall 11 months ago
@LewisFall you clearly just play at a shit level then mate
billyocrfc 11 months ago
@billyocrfc - actually reading the comment you're replying to fail.
LewisFall 11 months ago
@LewisFall that makes no sense you sap
billyocrfc 11 months ago
@billyocrfc You're right. I should have written "try actually reading my comment". My original comment was meant to point out that although my natural bias is toward rugby union, I still feel that this clip displays handling skills that many "top" rugby union players couldn't produce (with the probable exception of the All Blacks). It has nothing to do with the level to which I've played. Hence I pointed out that you had a "reading fail" - to use the en-vogue vernacular. Hope that clears it up.
LewisFall 10 months ago
@LewisFall saying that no union players 'except the all blacks' could do that skill is the most retardded thing ive ever heard.. you clearly don't know alot about rugby, thinking that just because the all blacks are the best team atm that only they can offload out of a tackle
billyocrfc 9 months ago
@billyocrfc You clearly are a stubborn "union is everything" person who's blind to any point of view that doesn't fit his particular paradigm. Frankly, I'm annoyed with myself for entering into a debate with a person who can't use capital letters, commas, full stops and correct English - I should have known better. Given the dross served up by Wales and England the past two weekends and the standard of the 6 nations this year, I stand by my statement. Union will always be the better game though.
LewisFall 9 months ago
@LewisFall don't try and act clever, noone gives a shit about capital letters or punctuation or capital letters, we are on youtube, it isn't a English essay. Dick.
I'm not a 'union is everything' person at all, i love rugby league, i only play union but i probably watch league more. The fact is that your statement as totally wrong. Yea this video is really skillful, but to say a union player couldn't do it is just stupid.
billyocrfc 8 months ago
@billyocrfc Ah... call me a dick. That'll win your argument. I'm bored with you now.
LewisFall 8 months ago
@LewisFall no you've just realised that your original comment was wrong lol
billyocrfc 8 months ago
@billyocrfc I have no idea how you've come to that conclusion... But "lol"? Seriously? I've figured you out now. Shouldn't you spend less time replying to youtube comments and more time finishing your homework?

Can someone explain to me the defensive play at 2:45 ------ Is using the feet like this legal ?
jaegerhund 1 year ago
@jaegerhund It used to be legal, but players like billy slater (the guy in the video who did it) and other fullbacks in the legal eventually caused it to be illeagalized as players were suffering shots to the head and it was considered to dangerous, and now leading with the feet will normally get you a trip to the judicery.
