  • trilo beatles

  • So is this like a paleozoic version of dinosaurs?

  • hi doc.

what type of sedimentry rock you found the trilobite

  • thanks this is helpful

  • Nice vid. Comments, well...

  • @jimhale777 Conversations like this go on in every fossil video it seems .

  • This is the age when Cincinnait was like the Caribbean sea.

  • Yall go to millions of years back? How the hell can u proove that? I mean seriously you will never know how to date something unless you were in the begining and made a rule of measuring

  • @josh ebizonline You can google search and read many articles on how science dates fossils and why it is considered reliable . You can also watch many videos here on you tubes on the subject . Be aware that there is considerably religious backlash and attack from Young Earth Creationists -YEC .The YEC put out a tremendous amount of misinformation on the subject . If you are emotionally neutral on the subject you can figure out witch source is more reliable easily .

  • @joshebizonline If youve been raised as a creationist youve been taught to distrust science since before the age of reason (age 7 ) . It may be difficult for you to ever study and know about the subject because of mental and emotional barriers of aversion to the subject . In other words there is a lot of cult like introctination psychology to overcome. That is the only way those traditions can survive ,is to teach their members to tune out all contrary info .Study in depth to learn more.

  • @flyingscience well then how come fossils were found with other fish inside them, some fossils even had fish still giving birth will that show that fossils take millions of years to be created

  • @jaicou Many predatory animals have stomach contents fossilised . Their food has hard parts that become fossils as well . Plant eaters may have seeds , pine cones and gastrolith rocks used to aid grinding food . Animals can die during birth , lightning strikes can kill fish in the water as well . Instant things are sometimes recorded as fossils but its rare .

  • @jaicou Fossils come in over 6 types , mineralization /turning to stone / replaced by minerals is one type .Mineralization can take months , years , decades or thousands of years .Depending on the decay rate out and the mineral infilling rate in determines the time . It can be fast or slow . Read more about fossils to learn. Creationit materials will missinform you ,stick to real science sources who dont profit from attacking knowledge.

  • @flyingscience How can you be so blind all the answers are in front of you look how beautiful all the living things on the earth are do you really think this could be all made from scientists theories, how can you not think there is a god.

  • @jaicou Creationists create a dichotomy that all non fundamentalists are atheists . Most Christians accept an old Earth and evolution . Watch the video "Adam and Evolution " in that video parody Jesus tries to teach his desciples about evolution . The genuine point to the video is that people back then cant grasp any of the science volcabulary we take for granted . Science answers are impossible in prescientific societies nescesitaing metaphor .

  • @jaicou Look up naturalism to understand how the universe runs . Feel free to superimpose any theology on top of naturalism you choose . Watch the video "Sagan on God " .

  • @joshebizonline Here is the short answer . Copy and paste this video tittle:How Do We Know How Old Fossils Are?

  • @flyingscience thx man i will see it in a moment. I sent u a email. Cheer!

  • Wow man, I counted 36 legs on one of them. A little roli poli bug only has 14.

  • i found a trilobite thats about a inch long, is it worth anything?

  • @fucky0c0uch123 Yes all trilobites are worth $ due to supply and demand . Depending on the species and its cleanliness / good preservation will effect the price . Cambrian trilobites can be 25 cents because they are so common.Other rare types may be hundreds of dollars .On average its probably between $10-$40 if its not a rare type .

  • @flyingscience i think the one i have is a Ampyx because it has antennae coming out the sides, do you know if this species is rare?

  • @fucky0c0uch 123 The super plentiful trilobites are cheap because they are so plentiful , My fossil club gives away Cambrian trilobites at fossil shows.(we dont do it by mail so no one write me asking for handouts) . I have seen 4+'' Moroccan blind trilobites for only $5 . Ive seen the rare spiny type professionally cleaned go for $1,500 or more . The 3rd largest in the world sold for 18 thousand $ .

  • Impressive!

  • thank you :)

  • i found a trilobite fossil once. and i went to get it checked out. and the women said it was about 410 million years old

  • We all know that animals like the Coelocanth occasionally turn up long after being supposed extinct but Dodos? Come on, they were limited to a single island, couldn't swim, couldn't fly. Mauritius is poplulous enough that survivors would've been found by now. They're gone for good Im afraid.

  • @mtop129 you need to copy and paste this into TurocSwe's comments .Hit the reply button on his comments otherwise your efforts are extinct . Send that comment to him in otherwords .

  • eureka!

  • Comment removed

  • "Extinct", haha, extinction is a lie!

  • @TurokSwe Is there a name for extiction deniers ?

  • @flyingscience I dont think so, but cryptozoologists could almost be called that, but not exactly.

  • @flyingscience You just said it! Extinction denier.

  • @TurokSwe Is your denial of extinction religion based ?

  • @flyingscience Both YES and NO.

  • I'm sure the mysterious demise of the trilobite is completely explained in the bible. Just take some time to interpret it correctly.

  • @Uncle5cary The Permian extinction event was the worst in Earths history more than 95% of all species went extinct at one time . This differs from the regular quote that 99% of all past life is extinct (from all millenia).

This is really, really bad evidence of NON intelligent design /an indifferent God who is napping or vacationing . Look up permian extinction videos to learn more.

  • @flyingscience We dont KNOW anything about the past, weve only got our theories, and I believe extinction is a lie!

  • @Turok wiI thought you where joking until I looked at your account . It is a romantic notion that all the animals are still alive and in hiding in remote places . Unfortunately humans are causing the sixth extinction event presently. We have species going extinct every week because of deforestation and pollution . Continue your interests and read as much as you can .

  • @flyingscience I know people are saying extinction is happening, but as I have been saying, I dont believe in extinction.

  • @TurokSwe Why do you choose to ignore extinction ? There are many animals that have been hunted to extinction dodo bird is one example . Many islands have unique animals that exist no where else on Earth (the animals evolved to that island only) . Many of those animals have been hunted to extinction and are simply gone . Since there is no name for what you believe(extinction denier) I guess your the only one or is there a religious group ? How does religion tie in to this?

  • @flyingscience Because I have been convinced that extinction is not true, and that evidence from around the world show the organisms is still alive, and many people around the world dont believe theyre extinct either. And when we hunted many animals like the Dodo, we actually didnt know how many there where left, so they could very possibly survive, and they can adapt to live on other places. Im certainly not the ONLY extinction denier. And, how does religion tie in to this?

  • @TurokSwe said " I have been convinced that extinction is not true".

    *Palms forehead*

Step-back everyone, we have a genius here....

  • @OrthodoxDarwinist Thank you! Thank you!

  • I really wish these magnificent creatures were still living.

  • @skyclaw441 Who says they arent? No one really KNOWS wether they are alive or extinct, but I dont believe in extinction, so I believe they are still among us. Its all about belief, do YOU believe they are dead, or alive? I dont think no one have to wish for it, prehistoric creatures have been found and documented through many years from prehistoric times until today, and fossils show they existed at the same time as Humans. Science just doesnt like the idea, it doesnt fit in with THEIR theories.

  • mmm trilobite ice cream. sorry haha, from the terrible thunder lizards.

  • i have 8 trlobite fossils in my room no joke

  • Hi Trilobites hunters. We have abaut 100 trilobites to sell. From Salta, NW Argentina.

  • If they were alive today, I think Trilobites would make great pets!

  • This is a really good video, it's a good intro to trilobites and their kin. Thank you for posting.

  • I love trilobites!

    they r so cute

  • make love to them you perv!

  • Your mother warned you that all those computer games would turn you antisocialy aggresive .Move out of your moms basement and start practicing your manners .Try not to get fired from any more jobs because of your big mouth .

  • she didn't warn me :(

i don't live in my basement but you sure should see my basement you'll change your mind and will want to move there

  • hahahaha !!!, nice video... make one about euripterida !!! (Chelicerata)

  • @flyingscience agreed.

  • @Peralisc you insignificant piece of shit

  • do you think trilobites went extinct or just evolved? I kind of think they evolved into other species like crabs, lobsters, triops, ect....

It was a good little documentary u made, i just ask cause i think the term extinct should be defined more... As we know many species never went extinct but rather evolved into new species... To me extinction should be defined as an end to that particular evolutionary branch

  • Skinny - we know trilobites went completley extinct .There are 5 great extinction events .The Permian die off nearly killed all life in earth .

  • The Permian die off was from a worse meteor impact than that which killed the Dinos . Google permian die off / extinction event to learn more .

  • but see thats what I'm going at... The dino's never totally died if we have birds today and the earliest known bird fossils have a direct ancestry line with dinosaurs....

10,000 years ago there was a mass extinction of large mammals on earth, we don't classify all these animal groups as extinct, only the specific evolutionary branch of that group.

I think the trilobite evolutionary tree is far too successful and widespread to have just died off. There are marine inverts, known as copepods...

  • as well as the desert dwelling triops and many other species like so....

I believe this are just updated version of this prehistoric species... The same way birds are to dinosaurs

  • @flyingscience I dont believe in extinction. Extinction is just a bad scientific theory.

  • trilobites have living relatives called triops longocatus.

  • @skinnywhop87 To me, extinction should be renamed, or have a new meaning, for something more like "DISAPPEARED", cause the creatures can be rediscovered, but science need to accept it. I believe extinction is a lie.

  • Great Video. Have you read Richard Fortney's book: Trilobite?

  • common than answer my above questions?

  • isnt it interesting how the sea level 60million yrs ago was higher now and the ice caps were melted and guess what there were no factories no cars etc.. back than, but now the ice cap are melting and we start panicking and talking about this rubbish called human induced climate change, what rubbish, its a conspiracy, climate change happens all the time and its go nothing to do with cars or pollution, how do u explain ice ages and melting etc.. back than when there were no humans to cause that

  • isn't it interesting how some people try to look intelligent and can't even write correctly when posing an argument? ( to the last post) Great video. i am a trilobite enthusiast myself, however I really love Eurypterids.

  • Beswick - the atmosphere was diffrent in the Ordovician . A day was 21 hours and not 24 .This was a time before land plants even existed .

  • i wish i had a trilobite fossil..XG

  • Well the Cambrian ones from Utah are so common they are 25 cents -$5.00 usually.Look up commercial fossil sites .

  • Fine introduction to tribolites. Very interesting.

  • Trilobites are really exciting! i hate the fact that some of the coolest species went extinct... :-/

I wish i could have one as a pet...even though they look like giant bugs, or a BIG/FAT short-length Centipede!!

well, it doesnt really, but my point is that they're awesome!!

  • It would be cool to be able to shop at a Time Travlers pet store .4 ' mammoths , bird sized flying reptiles , giant bugs and trilobites of course !

  • yup!! l i want a saber-tooth tiger! :D

    then a trilobite....

if they lived with humans right now, do you think we could train them?! u know, make 'em do tricks n' stuff?!

    Just a crazy thought! lolz

  • sure we could train them...just as we have train lions and tigers

the trick to training big cats like that is to not let them know how big and strong they really are.

  • i want a t-rex!!! hehehhe and a trilobite!!!

  • also do you know any trusted sites for buying fossils/

  • do u know were i can find trilobites or any fossils in Massachusetts

  • ohh..... trilobites make me hot

  • They strip off their exoskelton sloooowly with many tail wiggles ya know!

  • lol

  • Those are really cool. Trilobites are pretty interesting creatures. It is a pity they went extinct.

For anyone who cares, they are in the subphylum arthropoda and had their own class which died out.

Do you know if there are any good places to look for fossils in and around NYC?

  • There have been some good trilobites and sea scorpions found in and around New York .I dont know exactly where .World capital of minerals is New Jersey .

  • Incredible minerals that fluoresce and glow fond in Jersey .People look for them with glowing lights at night making the minerals fluoresce.

  • the underbelly view looks like a rollie pollie

  • Thanks for the info! I've been having a hard time finding details like the swimming/crawling variants and population sizes of each, as well as the color consensus.

Don't know if you heard about the recent dinosaur mummies, but one was discovered with intact skin. I think it was the hadrosaur, but they could even see the stripes on the animal.

  • Somehow I think I knew that already. I'd just forgotten. lol

  • state flower is the orange barrel!!! I used to volunteer at the DMNH/Boonshoft and loved to fossil hunt when I was younger

  • what is DMNH/Boonshoft ?

  • Dayton Museum of Natural History, now the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery in Dayton, OH

  • Very educational, and well visualized in the displays. Thanks for sharing this info!

  • Horseshoe crabs are related to arachnids so does that mean the trilobite is too?

  • No, from what I understand, trilobites are actually a different animal all together from the arachnids. The closest relative that the horseshoe crab has is the sea scorpion family, common during the ordovician and devonian period.

  • This is good, I just wish that it wasn't quite as focused around Cincinnati. Interesting stuff though!

  • yeah - our common Ordovician trilobites are plain in comparison to exotic Devonian type .

  • go to this web site to see trilobite evolutionary ancestors

    (w x 3)(dot)trilobites(dot)info(slash forward)origins(dot)htm

  • whait so trilobites are a erly evoloution horse shure crab right!?

  • Correction : Trilobites are found prone and enrolled. They are also found in the process of enrolling - variations of curling up like a ball.

  • One arthropod that demonstrates that behavior (enrolling as protection) is the pill bug AKA wood bug, a crustacean that is found in damp areas, frequently inhabiting rotting and damp wood.

Too bad none of these little guys survived to this day.

  • If only a pet store time travler could sell all the cool little creatures that used to be !

  • I love this! I was a former geology student at Eastern New Mexico University, Portales NM from 1992-

1996. Finding fossils is incredibly exciting.

Never found any Trilobites before, but found a beautiful Ammonite once. There were an number of us who used to extract Phytosaur bones from a huge Triassic formation many miles north of ENMU.

  • I will be making several more of these introducing crinoids , bryozoans , coral , brachipods ect. slowly but surely

  • Man that sound awesome. Looking forward to it

    mate:)

  • The Ordovician ended with one of the worst ice ages in history It was the second worst extinction event of 5. It was the first in sequence of the 5 great extinction events .

  • The rock layers are called the Cincinnatian series , this name is used world wide for the thick band of limestone and shale from this time ( which is called the Cincinnatian Epoch ).

  • Note that you do not find any modern day sea shells , fish ,coral at this time .They do not exist yet in the fossil record.99% of all past life went extinct.

  • The Cincinnati arch ( upward bending of the rock layers ) brought these ancient layers to the surface .The glaciers removed younger layers of rock .This exposed the very early fossils from the beginings of life near the surface.

  • 440 Million years ago ,Cincinnati , Ohio was under the equator and covered by a tropical shallow sea. Land was virtualy devoid of animal life .Humble plants where just stating to colonise the waters edge.Plants become more numerous during the Sillurian .
