  • I had most of the Matt Mason toys. I won a Funny Face Flavor Drink contest when I was in grade school. I colored in some Funny Face figure in the comic. I won the space station, the crawler and the MMM. A later added the cannon, the tall space man, and a bunch other.

  • I had a Matt Mason when I was about 4 years old (in about 1969). For years I'd forgotten what he was called but I finally rediscovered him. Fantastic memories.

  • Great video. Certainly brings back memories of these very fun toys from my early years.

Mine bit the dust as-well; those thin wires in their bodies would poke out after hours of play and become a hazard. I also remember the coloring books; which I probably had more fun with seeings though I couldn't get the expensive ( at that time ) accessories.

  • ahhh what memories from 42 years ago (50 years old now) - I had Major Matt Mason myself. Thanks modmart

  • Hi. That is a very nice collection !!

  • I had the Astronaut with the yellow suit I had a later one as I remember the yellow coming off.He was with red track vehicle. This would of been around 1969.I pretended I didn't want it but my great aunt new me well and bought it.This and a Horikawa fighting robot was my favorite things.I treasured them for years.I used to ly down on the carpet with them both infront of me watching my favorite show Lost in Space.

  • amazing collection!they look new

  • Jeez I loved Major Matt Mason as a kid. Had three of the figures and the tower and other acceseries. Great collection there.

  • I loved Callisto !

  • I still got mine!

  • Matt Mason, toute mon enfance !!!

  • I had Doug Davis & Callisto as a kid. Twenty five years later I tried to get the full set, along w/ some vehicles and the station. Got all but Doug and Scorpio because I couldn't find them at an affordable price in decent condition. Had to sell the figs I collected, but managed to hold on to the station, crawler, Seeker. Mattel is releasing a new line of Mego's. Seems MMM would be a natural for re-release too.

  • @Stepper11 Correction: it was Jeff, not Doug, I had as a kid.

  • That's right mate. he was called SCORPIO. Now one of the rarest in the set.

  • There was a second alien. It came out after the little green fellow. It was very tall, bendy (its arms and legs had no joints), was pink and a sort of purple body armor that exposed its stomach. It had antennae and the head popped of to reveal a hard yellow plastic dome underneath. This was removed to insert a lightbulb. When reassembled and turned on it caused the mouth and eyes to glow yellow. Does this sound at all familiar? If so, what was the name of this creature?

  • These were very simple yet very popular toys as I remember, they are quite expensive on E Bay these days !

  • Every single thing I gave away became a collectors' item, and every single thing I kept became worthless! Dang! How could I have figured that? I remember donating my Matt Mason stuff in 1971 along with a lot of other toys I am sure are valuable now. Don't ask me to pick stocks for you.

  • Looking back at it, I probably shouldn't have set my space station on fire!!!

  • Good god, I remember these wll. I had the red and white figures, the sledge and crawler. The wires went on the figures though which was a pain. Really popular at the time. Gonna look for a 'You tube' on the Johnny 7 next; memories.

  • You have Jeff Long. Every article says that MMM came out in 1967, but I distinctively remember myself and some other neighbor kids having MMM in 1966. I moved from that neighborhood in Jan '67 and I know we had a lot of it before Christmas '66. Anyway, it's great seeing all of your collection. It sure brings back very fond memories. I started collecting again in the early 90's and it got way out of hand. It took over my house and caused a lot friction between my wife and I. All gone now. Best2U.

  • Yes we had pretty much all the same stuff US guys had back then. Major Matt, GI JOE under the name ACTION MAN, JOHNNY 7 OMA and that type of stuff. Same TV shows too so many middle -aged guys here will have the same memories of childhood as an average American too. Thanks for checking this stuff out.

  • Nice collection. ? You mentioned your fondness for MMM. I wasn't aware that Mattel sold these in the UK.

  • Got my first MMM at 7 or 8 years old (1968). Was way cool back in those days. By the time I was a teen and lost interest in them, most of the wires were gone as well as 90% of the paint. Think my mother gave everything I had to a younger second cousin, after I left home. Would be nice to have some of it now. Thinking of collecting them again, as I collect most things from my youth. Anyway nice collection!

  • Very nice. I'm getting ready to shot a series of videos on my collection and I'm inspired by your video.

  • That was interesting about the paint jobs. I was born in '65, and had a lot of these as a little kid, but I definately remember that mine must have been the 2nd type, because the color paint came off of them. (And of course, the wires that made them posable would break, leaving a bunch of paraplegiac astronauts!)

  • One of my favourite toys ever. MMM was THE best space man figure. I had the little guy plus the spiral back pack & the sled. I didn't get the others in the collection but great to see what was available. You sure know your subject.

    Nicky

  • I won the MMM Space Station from a coloring contest in the Sunday newspaper comics. I colored in the Funny Face drink cartoons. Over the next three years I got all the other major MMM toys. Recently my son sold most of them on Ebay.

  • The red guy is Sergeant Storm I'm afraid. Thanks for looking though.

  • I thought that the red one was called major star mason,But i could be wrong.

  • Wow! Nice MMM collection! Next to GI Joe and Captain Action, MMM was my favorite action figure of the 60s.

  • outstanding!!

  • Man.... am I JEALOUS!!!! I had lots of that stuff as a kid in the 60's. It's all long gone. I wish I'd kept them. The dolls, the Crawler, jet pack, sled, moon base, moon buggy... sigh....

  • Shame you don't have Calisto's shoulder mounted "data sensor". I can't remember exactly what it was called, but it wasn't a weapon, It was operated with a squeeze bulb, and spit out a string "sensor". I had everything you have now, plus the glider. Great collection, Great memories. Thanks much for the post.

  • That's great! I had Billy Blastoff and his friend Robby the robot when I was a kid. I now have them back again thanks to ebay. Check out my collection if you want. - David

  • Nice Collection...I like all your other vintage toys too.

  • Yeah I had that space station also, wow that sure brings back memories. You kept it in great condition.

  • UNREAL! I had that old space station set as a kid! MMM so ruled my youth! Great set!

  • Very nice set Martin.

The big Captain Lazer bloke and even Callisto simply don't look like they fit into the style of the rest of the toys.
