Um, this is Japan, not china, different countries. As for your question, in general young people sometimes call older persons such as upper classmen, older children, or young adults (Early 20's) Big Brother or senpai. Normally they only do this to people they are close to. If they are addressing an Adult or elder they would not use these terms as it is disrespectful. This is also true for the other way around. Kohai would be the term for someone lower than you in seniority.
