This is simply Fa bu lous ! So many thankx. Now gotta try doing it on my humble guitar... Do you know anything about Bix's "modern piano suite"? or is that a meld of Mist/Flashes/etc ??? thnx again!
@ddanze Thanks for the kind words! Bix wrote his four piano pieces ("In a Mist," "Candlelights," "Flashes," and "In the Dark") as standalone compositions. Within a few years of his death, though, they were being referred to collectively as the Beiderbecke "Modern Piano Suite." So unfortunately it's nothing new -- just a name to refer to those four pieces. Good luck with your guitar arrangement!
@ThePeaceableKingdom Thanks for the kind words! I've heard that Bix tended to play all of his compositions fairly briskly, even when not recording. I've experimented with different tempos. Too slow and they lose their rhythmic "drive." Too fast and the beautiful harmonies get lost. I try to take a middle ground: fast enough to feel the "pulse," but slow enough to really savor some of the gorgeous chords and rhythmic subtleties. His piano pieces don't get the credit they really deserve.
Fabulous performance Mr. Wright!
Love it!

@DialecticEclectic Thank you! It really is a gorgeous piece -- one of my all-time favorites to play. I never tire of it.

Hey, Bryan! It's Jeremy (Andrew's friend). I wasn't even looking for this and I found it. You sound good! Way to make the top 5 hits!!

And when I thought you were done uploading videos this popped up. Beautiful playing as always... Keep them coming.

Slower, but so much more expressive than Bix's (then again, he was up against a 3 minute deadline given the recording practice at the time).
Very nice work! You should be proud, Bix would have been, to hear you play his tune some 80 odd years later...
