  • I like Brad Dutz as much as the next guy, but I think they're focusing on him a little too much.

  • whoever filmed this sux. enough drums!!!

  • charlie needs to solo on some more songs! he kicked ass at this one!

  • how do you make the plunger noise at the end?? i cant do it no matter what i try. GERRRRRR!!!!

  • I love listenin to this song, and love playing it even more, i play bass bone and dang is this fun, took forever to get the low notes out and in tune though

  • who's the bass trombone player????

  • @ugot2dowhatugot2do It is normally Craig Ware but in this video its a different player.

  • @km426 it's craig gosnell, he seems to be playing at more gigs than craig ware anymore, but hey he's just as good! am i right?

  • @Garriss0n Definitely a cracking player! But i just prefer Craig Ware instead for some reason

  • @km426 maybe it's the beard?

  • peterpwnsuall none of his songs sound the same at all and how can solos sound the same?plus, gordon goodwin can do anything from latin to funk to blues.

  • I remember doing this in jazz band.

  • I play Trombone but I'm third chair. Same part as the Bass but a little higher! :D

  • GO BASS TROMBONE!!!!!! i have one just like that

  • wow such great bass trombone tone!

  • i love this song we are gonna play it at the st marys jazz festival in san antonio best part about the whole thing is that gordon goodwin himself is gonna be a judge!

  • I played this song this year i was lead tenor sax!

  • awsome....played/plaing somthin like this in my hs jazz band....being a tuba playin a bass part is the best

  • haha, when the trumpets play their last note, the second trombone player has his fingers in his ears. :D

  • good but as a trumpet player I have to say that backrow politics is better

  • the last 10 seconds are my favorite...

  • Jazz bass trombone has always been the secret love of my life ... can't get enough of this song!

  • is it me or does "sing sang sung" soung a lot like this song

  • all gordon goodwin sounds the same.

  • @petarpwnsuall all jazz is different. with jazz no two songs are much the same unless its just a variation song. u r misinformed my friend

  • @corascantcustoms99 sorry but who are you to decide jazz is? i wasn't saying it's not jazz, i'm saying gordon goodwin is a boring excuse for jazz. i'm saying that if you played jazz artists mixed with gordon goodwin, i'd be able to tell because "all gordon goodwin songs sound the same". horn hits, solos, rare melodies. i know what i'm talking about, we play his stuff at my school all the time and i'd rather be playing authentic jazz rather than this unmelodious crap.

  • @petarpwnsuall have you ever thought its the way that your director is getting you guys to play it? Jazz is jazz. if you put the real version of gordon goodwin's songs with big band swing, or even cool jazz, it will fit in perfectly. trust my, that is what my ipod is

  • @petarpwnsuall Sorry to barge in but I just saw these comments, and that person is right.. no two jazz pieces are alike. Jazz is very improvised, so even the same piece played twice wouldn't be the same unless it was all written out including solos. Stylistically they could be similar, for example; you could put 2 latin jazz pieces next to eachother by 2 different artists and they would sound similar. You are fully entitled to your opinion, but I'm curious about you inclination toward even

  • @petarpwnsuall watching gordon goodwin if you don't like him. I think that any music that takes effort and talent is worth a listen. ^_^

  • @petarpwnsuall Bahaha school kiddie doesn't know what hes talking about. Go and change your nappy, child. Don't badmouth people whos skill far surpass yours.

  • gosh i can't wait to meet gordin and jay. they're coming to my highschool and now i'm so stuck on big phat's music

  • playing this in jazz band

  • Lead Trumpet took it to a Double D at 3:08

  • I have the sheet music, and it says double B

  • Its a B

  • Great recording. I'm playing this in my high school jazz band! :)

  • hehe. they were in ratatouille.

  • Great JAzz chart, really fun to drum to this song

  • wooo thats the bassbone i own

and damn can he play that thing!

it takes so much air to blow through that thing!

  • whats the make and model?

  • Stratavarious Bass trombone 10/2 inch bell double roder (don't know if i spelled that right) and yeah...

  • I can never get that first C on bassbone

    everything after is good

  • the very first C in trigger 1? thats quite easy bud.

  • I was talking about the Pedal C

but yeah that was a while back and I can pretty much play the entire solo now on Bass Bone.

  • best jazz band EVER!!!!! my jazz alot of his music and i absolutely love it. the man si a frikin' genius!!!

  • This song is great, but really hard.

  • oh wow I wish i could play like that.

I used to be close, (and by that I mean in my mind only) but I fell out of practice

  • now which one is playing the bass on this one? is it Craig?

  • Trombone solos... not quite as good as Andy Martin's on the CD, but it's nice to hear some of the members you never hear.

  • is it just me or does the drummer look quite a bit like Bruce Willis

  • The bass bone player is like me- He's always emptying his spit valve because of how blasting his sound is.

  • me too. The clarinetist that sits in front of me sometimes complains that spit comes out of my bell. (They learned to live how loud I play a while ago.)

  • i think wayne bergeron is one of the best lead players.

every notes are very solid and played with physicalness.

  • I love Craig Gosnell's playing. Solid, BUT i dont think anybody has a better sound that Craig Ware. I've been fortunate enough to sit next to both of those guys in a section and Sitting next to Craig Ware is like being wrapped in a warm blank of bass trombange. Also Alex iles always kills it and i love it. Kudos to all three of them, Craig, Charlie, and Alex

  • Listen to Dudley Hinote of the Airmen of Note and Dave Taylor. Both great big band players

  • I think he gave this almost exact speech when I saw them play this at UMSL 2 years ago.

  • Good video, but why does it focus on the drummer so much? This song is essentially a bass trombone feature and we have video of the drummer just sitting there....

  • Yeah, that would be the fault of having a High School production team in charge of the recording of a concert. They do this kind of crap all the time.

  • Ah I see.

Too bad because this recording of their concert has really good sound.

As a bass trombonist I really would've liked to see him playing....

Thanks for the great videos of the Phat Band though.

  • ya i agree but still at least the video has a good sound and that's really all that matters. I still watch youtube gordon goodwin songs with the same screen all the time lol

  • @Cranot

Nah it's the drummer's friggen awesome.

  • Cameraman on drugs maybe XD

  • charlie murrilas was having a better chop day than alex iles . ive heard alex play better than murrillas many times . it just depends on whos lips are functioning better that day .

  • Wooohoow! Nice Bass-trombonesound!!!

  • WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT CUT FOR, right near the beginning of the second tenor trombone solo.

  • ya i dont like his sound nearly as much as craigs... and why didnt andy martin take a solo?

  • Personally found the sub was a bit too dark, not enough happy bright to it.

  • I think it's Graig Gosnell Brassheavy.

He is the New Kid on the Block

  • Who is playing Bass trombone? Craig Ware's sub? I love the mix basstrombone&bigband.
