1. They're making u advertise their products for 1million views for $100k..
That means for every 10 views, they fork out $1?
Out of that 10 views, maybe at least 1 on average would go and buy a dove shampoo which results in "profit per shampoo bottle" for the company, which will definitely be much more than $1..
2. On top of that, Dove Self-Esteem "Fund".. isnt it insincere?
U make a donation fund.. then u'll only donate money ONLY IF u get 1million views..
I think if you're going to have a self-esteem campaign,u don't hand-pick skinny girls that look like models, you need some people who better represent the masses, your hearts are in the right place but u are undermining what u are trying to accomplish here, instilling self-esteem into women,u need maybe some people represented in your video who don't fit in the mold of mainstream so well, maybe some overweight people or persons with disabilities, reality not polished reality.just my honest opinion
@trinified2011 If you had a video which had more diverse people and shapes etc, you would likely have more hits, broader fan base and greater revenue! :) Maybe in the future, such a video would be much more impacting, I think you're gonna see more of this portrayal of diverse peoples appearing in mainstream media in the days to come, ex. Dance Your A*S Off, its only just the beginning!
omg stop getting all mad. porfessional dancers have nice bodies because they dance so much! durr. stop getting so mad, just because ur fat and u want to feel better about yourself. heres some advice: lose some weight. everything will be better. being overweight is unhealthy anyway. keep it thin
@srkambbs professional dancers are not fat. or "big boned" because if ur proff u dance a lot which keeps u in shape. are there any fat runners or fat gymnasts? no.
@oliviacnb Well, but I am a dancer and I am neither kinny or fat, but Dove seems to contradict itself. If you see unilever has two products - dove and axe. Axe always has commercials with very provocative content and very skinny models. At the end, the whole dove campaign's is for marketing dove, not build self esteem.
@srkambbs But you're not a PROFESSIONAL DANCER. Meaning you dance, not a teacher or anything, meaning you DANCE for a job. I dance and i'm skinny and i also know fat girls who dance too- doesn't mean their good enough to be in a commercial. Who gives a fuck anyway? If you have that low of self esteem go to a therapist, not a commercial.
@oliviacnb LMAO you win!! i'll have my opinion and you keep yours. Let's all be happy with our perspectives cuz there's no way both of us are gonna change it!! LOL
@sKullkittehs It should remind you of the film singing in the rain more, as the dance moves and songs of both this version and glee version are hommages to it....
@ltt989 A COMPANY THAT DOES SOMETHING FOR A SPECIFIC GROUP OF PEOPLE? PREPOSTEROUS. That's like saying the NAACP is racist because it's focused on black people.
@ltt989 no they have it for men too. They just don't say "self-esteem" in them because that would not appeal to as much men. Instead they say "comfortable in my own skin". They do have more ones for women though but that's just because the brand's clients are mostly women
"Stephen Colbert reported on Dove's recent launch of a deodorant specifically designed to make women's armpits more attractive. And while some may consider this a new low in the effort to exploit women's insecurities, Colbert saw a brilliant money-making opportunity." - Jezebel
What offends me the most about Dove's self-esteem campaign is that they are masking the fact that they are a beauty product by pandering to the envy of the average looking masses with the bullshit premise of promoting "self-esteem". I only support cosmetics brands who don't try to pretend they are something that they are not.

Self-esteem fund. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA. Do you give grants for unhappy models who are offended that they are excluded from the "real women' category? This video does not merit a million views, and I'm saying this even though some of my friends are in it.
Please report this as "Spam -> mass advertising" so we don't have to lay eyes on such abomination in the future. When ever possible, do your part to kill spam!
@Onehundredjobs in this context, real mean ugly. Because all beautiful women set unattainable standard for all the ugly one. These ugly womens prefers to simply dismiss them by calling them "fake". This is fine. What is not fine is enforcing that denial trough politics. Fuck 'em.
Also, Dove soap is disgusting. Too much fat not enough alkali.
Yes, Theguystevenson - we are real, everyday women. What an amazing experience. The whole team brought such a beautiful and true video. I feel so blessed to have been a part of it.
I know many of the 'REAL' women that are in this commercial. :) They did an amazing job (I wish I could have seen them a bit longer) :( but GREAT job ladies!!
I found this video particulary intriguing after checking out the making of it. These were real women - not professional dancers. The film was rehearded and created in day.
