  • Nice job man, & play with whatever posture you like - it doesn't matter if it works for you. What kind of bass are you playing in this video?

  • Not bad especially playing in such an akward posture.

  • nice work man! awesome! i love the feel you give it....very passionate:)take another listen tho....jaco is using open strings entering a few of those licks in the solo....

  • Awesome playing!

I'm learning the whole piece and want to make it to the end lol.

Those fast parts looks really creepy!

And you hold the bass in a really strange way.

If you held the bass "normally" you'd look more appropriate.

With holding the bass like this,it looks like you don't give a shit, like you don't care about anything..It just makes the whole vid less better in the visual way.

And if you held the bass "normally" I believe you can get your playing better, because like that,it looks bad.

  • Get some posture man. I mean, if you want to swing around the whole damn song, knock yourself out, but you're barely supporting your bass on your leg, it's practically hanging by the damn strap! Also, your left hand posture is terrible. Most of the time your thub is way off the arm of the bass, and you only have two fingers on the fretboard, like you're goddam Django Reinhardt or something. Quit trying to look 'cool' and focus on the damn playing, you'd do a lot better.

  • Well done. Nice phrasing of the more complete piece, which is a difficult one to emulate accurately. Nice 'Jaco sound', compliments your playing.

Keep at it. Obvious talent there. Jaco would have been proud!

  • You're right, you're only one I've seen attempt it, and a very admirable job. I'm motivated to post my own, but nor until I have the whole thing like you did. Very nice!

  • really nice, thanks for the video.

  • 5:00 you think your cool huh!? well you are a thousand thumbs up buddy awesome job

  • When Chad decided 2 make this video he was gona make some funky licks, but ,

In his "Drug Induced Hypnotic State" Jaco channeled Continuum just for fun :)

  • Your posture is very odd -- not sure that is very efficient. Nonetheless, you did a great job.

  • MUY BIEN TE FELICITO!

  • muito bom mesmo :D

    vc me surpreendeu!

    caranba

    só uma duvida

    esse baixo é um strinberg?

  • Nice Playing. I bet you wouldn't mind giving away one of the basses behind you? =)

  • cheers man, they belong to by bass teacher actually :-P this was done in a lesson

  • love 3:24

  • keep quiet!

    please

  • could be a bit faster, but you have awesome tone.

  • really wonderful...

  • ur 1 mother fucker of a bassist, im intrested to see how u groove with a drummer

    PEACE TO U!

  • Although some of the feeling is there you have half of it wrong both in notes and rhythm, but keep working and you'll get there.

  • nice job ... keep honing it more 'cause it's worth it.

The solo is very tough to play. I just wish i could

find/ figure out the right fingerings to the solo

  • Amazing job, I love your sound. Best sound yet, nice tone all around I wish I had your talent

  • Bravissimo!

  • nice job bro..keep it up, whatever u do .add your personal thing to it

  • not bad... just wanted to say "tone" comes from many things (mostly out of your fingers...) but definitly NOT from software ;)

    Best regards

    Joe

  • Thanks man! You are very right, but Jaco used some subtle Chorus in a lot of his songs, so it was that I was talking about, which I CAN'T emulate with my fingers ;-)

Let me know if you can get the chorus effect with your fingers :-P

(Don't mean to be rude, more humourous)

    Thanks all the same

  • huauhah SICK

  • i like this guy, h'es got his own style after all, at least it's not always the same shit trying to imitate Jaco.

  • Hey bro, that was a cool rendition. Music is all about expression so keep moving. I see alot of bass players sitting in front of cameras looking like they are taking themselves way too seriously and sounding very lifeless,so keep moving, dont stop. Jaco was a super fun nutbar who laughed in the face of the serious robot musicians who are probably the people giving you negative comments on here. We all know what we need to improve on,dont we?! So,thanx for sharing and keep going. ^_-

  • rightly said bro....thank you

  • Yeah you do play like an ass but you play good though.

  • it's good, but no offense, you play like a drunken monkey.. it'd be better if you concentrated on your notes than your body movement.. but yeah, keep it up!

  • Thanks man, appreciate it, and jazzsaavy too. But I don't concentrate on my body, it just kind of happens... I'm not the most self-controlled person. So I don't think the movement has too much of a direct negative effect on my playing, except when it comes to my wrists n fingers themselves. You're right though, I do need to concentrate more on the actual notes (intonation wise) and phrasing.Sorry I haven't rerecorded yet, thought I would leave it a bit, but I will get to it one day.

    Cheers guys!

  • nice rendition if you feel the music and you move with it thats fine you will play better that way think you just enjoy continuum and i dont blame you try some of jacos other works and record them never mind people telling you to sit still like a robot like that bass by the way take care peace

  • Sounds great Jon. Great job on a hard piece!

  • Hey Luke, I just realised this comment was from none other than the great Lucas Pickford! I'd like to say thank you very much for transcribing the whole piece! Amazing transcription, couldn't have done it without you!

  • Well you did a great job JB. You are a terrific bass player! Well done!

    Lucas Pickford

  • Dude, you play well. I think you would be more effective playing nots being more still. To be honest this is almost uncomfortable to watch, lol. Looks like you're having an orgasmic experience if you know what I mean. ANd I know you learned the song, but learn the meaning behind the notes, you'll play more effectively that way. But keep playing. I'll be looking for the re-recording

  • great job! make sure that you work on your left hand technique a little more, it'll help your intonation loads

  • Haha, it's jus a cheap second-hand 'Mayhill' (Never heard of the make in my life) that I got three years ago - Defretted it last summer to bring it back to life.

  • what kinda bass you got there dud?

  • oh shure...I´ll record Donna Lee,Teen Town and Portraid of traicy!

hehe I like so much your video!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG OF JACO!

  • well done!

  • some mistakes... but it's ok. You did better than other Youtube players... who played this tune horribly... keep on playing!

    See you.

  • Jaco the greatest bass player in the world.

  • hey man, this is sam, wicked video, nice phrasing and great tone! im back in holland next week, c ya around

  • Awesome! 5/5
