  • I heard this time a few time now, never knew who penned it. Great tune!

  • I didn't realize this was them. I'd heard it but thought it was Sam Roberts. Good tune anyway. I'll have to watch for them on tour.

  • The best

  • Y-Town!!

  • It's nice to see some Yarmouth boys doing good! Hope you guys some to Music Week this year!

  • @CLANGxx and Reddog794 (first off, love when it posts before its supposed to). Anyway, the bit about if Nova Scotia was part of the Maritimes was a continuation of a joke that was running the whole episode. There was a Danish guy in the audience so they kept referencing him and debating which countries were part of Scandinavia. It wasn't a slight against Nova Scotia or a history lesson. And for everyone who is complaining about the song choice, well, it wasn't their pick. The booker for the s

  • AWESOME !!!... where in the hell is the "EPIC" button .... keep it up boys... put Nova Scotia right up there !!!

  • Sick of those GODDAMN clouds!

  • lead singer = my cousin :) ty aunt for sharing this link

  • In truth I enjoyed Daves tongue in cheek joke about NS. If you know your history, we were the first to try to secede.

  • dammit i can't believe i missed this

  • rentals for life lol

  • could prob repeat 0.03-0.04 over and over lol

  • I think the band was great and they definitely deserved this. But anyone else think that the keys were a little too loud and overpowering?

  • I remember when I was younger and watching Wintersleep at both the YJH and the Cotton Mill, I told Paul one time that they would be famous and had the whole band sign my CD. Paul seemed thrilled that I thought so highly of them and I guess I was right about Wintersleep becoming famous, congrats all, Yarmouth is proud! :)

  • Wonderful to see and a great tune as well. :)

  • I understand it makes business sense to play their most commercially successful song on such a popular show, but I really wish they chose something like Black Camera or Encyclopedia. Both songs are arguably just as catchy but would have given people a better idea of what to expect on the album, which is what Letterman was advertising.

That aside, great performance and congrats on reaching more new listeners. Seen the lads 4 times live now and will continue to do so every chance I get.

  • massive massive fan

  • You guys make all Nova Scotians proud! You ROCK!!

  • You guys make all Nova Scotians proud! You ROCK!!

  • Congratulations to all of you! I hope one day I see you guys play Drunk on Aluminum, Laser Beams, Lipstick, and other great songs. I'm down in New Mexico. I wish there was a way you all could come down here and perform at NMSU. You have solid supporters down here! Since I've known your music, I can't listen to anything else. Thank you for great music.

  • @NWASilentdeath thats just the way his voice is

  • Excellent, I love this song, congrats on the Letterman appearance!

  • nova scotia bands ffor the win!!!!!! fuck yes to NS

  • Great performance guys, with they didn't sensor your god damn lyrics lol

...and who cares what yanks say. It's all I'm good humour, ----- damn US KEYBOARD TRYING TO AUTOcorrect

  • Yeah Wintersleep! Hometown pride representing Haliwood!! Even though I hate letterman, it's good publicity for the boys. :) Saw these guys live on 2 occasions, once on Citadel Hill for Alexander Keith's birthday (the best IPA beer in CANADA!!), and once at the old Marquee club. How I miss those days. They are amazing in concert!!

@hungrytacoboy: Weighty Ghost is there most popular (catchy/upbeat) song that most people recognize. Most of the rest of their songs have little lyrics with all inst

  • ADTR on Jimmy kimmel live FTW

  • Disappointment ditto. This is a terribly monotonous song. It's made interesting only by the much drooled-over "intricate" drumming, which is nonetheless pretty garden-variety brush-work.

  • @oxonionian I have to agree. Followed these guys since Kary. I still listen to body without organs but this CD was just crap. :< Wintersleep was always monotonous but it was the kind you liked to listen to because it had that eerie grab to it. This stuff is just... IDK... BLEH

  • These guys are from my city and I love 'em!

  • I agree with previous comments- weighty ghost was kind of a disappointment as far as song choice goes. Wintersleep has lots of great new songs and this isn't even off there new album! Nor does it really sound like the their other material.

Regardless, this is awesome and I'm really proud of the band for making it on here- Loel was pretty funny at the end as well!

  • my cousin is lead singer sweet!!!

  • Great song!! Right on Yarmouth and Halifax!

  • I wish they would have played a different song, one other than Weighty Ghost. Why not something from the new album? I would have loved to hear Baltic. Also, every YouTube "suggestion" is another Weight Ghost video. What about their other songs?! Aha. I'm very glad they got onto Letterman though!

  • and the invasion of america continues... way to go guys, you're a blessing for all of us! cheers from Loose Garage in the 'fax.

  • Ignorant Americans. Anyways, good job hometown boys!

  • @BadBoyofRock

What are you responding to with this pompous comment? I'm an American living in Nova Scotia. I'm not an easily offended person, but I'm really tired of Canadians who hold their noses in the air against the US when they have no real experience. Sure there are asshole Americans, but please stop thinking their aren't just as many dicks in Canada. I love Canada and the US, but remember that we both have our share of a-holes.

  • But back to what's really important - congrats to Wintersleep for getting this gig! Hope this opens up many doors for you guys!!

  • Your obviously a stereotypical American asshole :)

  • @SurfGreenTelecaster it takes literally 10 seconds of research to find out where nova scotia is and that it is a part of canada. i realise it was a joke (hopefully) but it was in poor taste considering the band is from nova scotia and there would have been hundreds of nova scotians watching this episode. it was just a dumb thing to say. and yes, there are definitely assholes everywhere but americans tend to be more vocal about their shitty opinions.

  • @SurfGreenTelecaster

Amen brother. From New Glasgow, NS. I've met a lot of nice Americans, and a lot of asshole Canadians in my day. The reverse is certainly true also. I too get tired by stereotypes. Hope you are enjoying your stay.

  • Woo hoo!

  • Oh this is SUPERB! LOVE the music, keep it up! Congratulations on making it to the L-man's show!

  • So glad to see some hometown boys doing so well!!!!

  • I met Dave last year and when I told him I was from PEI, he said 'Oh, The Maritime Provinces!' It's pretty funny to hear him say it again.

  • what happened to his fucking voice? it used to be so low and moving (example: caliber, insomnia)...it started to change, but was great for "welcome to the night sky", probably their best album....but now, it's mouse-y and passionless.

meh. new inheritors was a big let down but they've got what it takes to turn things around.

  • @dukkookim7 your ears are as useless as tits on a bull,,, to put it politely

  • This song seems like it would be really boring to perform all of the time. There's only so much one can play an A chord.

  • @gongargongar listen to theyr other stuff,, you'l find its more complex, and deep

  • Nice, Dave got up for the proper shake good bye. These guys rock, saw them years ago in Antigonish for New Years, suffice to say the vibe is still very much in place. All the best boys...

  • Sweet

  • Very nicely done.

  • i got a vhs of kary on breakfast television!.....theres a time gap lol,...beautifuly done!..

  • YAY :)

  • Love this band. Hopefully they can have some success in the U.S. like Mumford & Sons.

  • O.K. Boys, First of all Congrats, You guys were really Great on Letterman. You guys have worked hard and deserve the recognition. You've come along way.

Aunt Val and Uncle Dan, Grimsby, Ont.

  • they rocked it!

  • way to go boys, fuckin' A.!!!

  • was god damn clouds really bleeped from the aired version? seems to me alot more(and worse) obscenities make it onto tv then that.

  • Yarmouth Nova Scotia!!

  • PS re: the drums... I seriously hope you didn't have an instrument issue (i.e. lost in transit or something), this time around. You're ungodly luck in that department out stands me!

  • Gentlemen, I could not wipe the smile off of my face. WoW!! To see a few boys from the lil old Maritimes do as well as you do, gives me such an unbelievable sense of pride! You have worked so hard and deserve every inch of success. I have followed your career, and have praised you from the west coast and back again.

Glad to see Mr. Letterman has become a fan, he seemed quite smitten;)

  • Is Nova Scotia a part of Canada.......not only ugly but ignorant and Stupid toooooo.......and NO SCHAFFER it is NOT the SEA!......glad the got the opportunity to show their talent on such a big show though.......GOOD JOB!.

  • @bookemsgirl The Nova Scotia comment was a reference to a recurring joke in this particular episode in which they were discussing wether or not Denmark was part of Scandinavia.

  • @bookemsgirl - Schaffer said "they tried to secede, actually." secede, as in withdrawal from confederation.

  • Yay! Loved it! Thought it was great that Letterman and Schaffer were concerned about Loel's drums. Are they rentals?

  • yessssssss

  • thats huge to get on letterman!!

  • hats off boys....good things do come from nova scotia....just not the mooseheads

  • Absolutely AMAZING! Your snowball is picking up everyone one on the playground :-) -P d'Entremont

  • Good job boys, very well done!

  • Awesome! Well done fellas!

  • Thank you I passed out for a couple hours and missed it!

  • Thanks for uploading this. So great to see this!
