She realized b/c of his specialized knowledge on Arab culture he is the perfect suspect for something that's currently going down--a European criminal blaming a crime on a defunct/fictional offshoot of al quaeda. I can't remember exactly what happens, but they catch him and are able to stop his terroristic plans, whatever they were.
