There is about 25 hours worth of work on the model itself. The animation took another 10 hours or so to model , animate and texture plus the afterburn effects. The renders in total probably took about 12-15 hours. I have a couple more hours in putting it all together in Vegas Movie studio.
this is not a real 1911 as the grip is squaire and john browning made a pantent on it with it cut off. do reashearch no bullshit but either which way nice vid
@GR8TM4N Search for the 1911A1-REDUX.pdf - it's a full CAD blueprint for the 1911A1.
Some people have made their own 1911 frames, but it's an expensive and bothersome process. (mating the slide with the frame requires a lot of precision if you want the best reliability)
im in the process of making one of these in 3ds max too. I was wondering how you created the body of the gun the trigger area. I basically got all the inner pieces done but Im trying to figure out what the best way to make everything else would be. thanks for the info thatd be great
The large chamfer in the trigger area was very time consuming. No real trick though. I just used the cut tool and then moved the vertices around until I got it looking right.
The frame started out as a spline with an extrude. It helps if you have good reference images and blueprints.

@lehman
Not quite, just keyframe animation using a spline as a path.

Wow! I am not familiar with those programs, just began learning solidworks, but I guess it has a different scope than what you are working with.

I think us gun nuts/tech geeks want more of a look inside the gun and how it works. So slow down at the looks inside. Thanks :)
