Christine and Raoul are suppose to be singing their parts, but everyone knows this movie adaptation features less music, more spoken dialect, same goes for some of Gerard Gutler/The Phantoms songs, where he speaks his parts, instead of singing them, which I can easily do.

I am soooo in love with this movie and even went to see the travelling performance starring Jeff Hyslop as the phantom when it came to Calgary Alberta! I SOOOO would have gone with the Phantom! The chandelier is supposed to drop at the end of Act I, maybe kill ONE person (as according to the book) and L'Opera Garnier is not supposed to explode. The one time I've seen it on stage, Act II's ending sequence still is impactful because its still a race against time to save the heroine. The explosion seemed...unneeded, and I think it will still have worked if it was done after the "All Ask of You" reprise, if filmed correctly.

Masquerade is my favorite number in Phantom, but this is not as good as Broadway. The costumes on B-way were more colorful, more majestic, and more beautiful than this. I do give props for them trying but I wish they could have made it like Broadway.

Such a great song yet a double edged sword. For these party goers, Christine and Raoul, its a celebration. For the phantom... this is his life but in darkness. "Masquerade, paper faces on parade. Hide your face so world will never find you." When he sings it in the final act, just crushing.

On another note, very glad they choose a color pallet. Black, white, gold and silver. It takes away when too many colors are competing for and taking away attention of the scene.

If your paying veiwers to watch you do this YES you have to get permission. But if it is just a variety night where NOONE gets any money from it then you can just perform without worry.

For example everyone on youtube that load themsleves singing covers don't ask the Artist for permission... They just enjoy singing their favorite artists songs.
