hey can anybody help me ?

i've been trying to play this for some time now, sounds great on normal tone, but when i turn on the distortion, it just turns into NOISE ! i hit the right notes, but they just mix up all together into a huge mess.....i just don't get the notes clean and clear....i'm new to playing with distortion, so any help would be apreciated....thanks in advance

the opening riffs aren't meant to be played like sweeps. they are single notes, they need to be individual without the other note overlapping if that makes sense to you. so use alternative picking and don't think of it as a bar chord, think of them as single notes. by the looks of your playing it shouldn't take long to get used too.

@flymyv Very true. But the whole sound of the riff is through picking, you need to get that accented picking sound, which comes from alternate. I'm not saying it's wrong, everyone has a different way of playing. But if you want to replicate the idea Petrucci was putting forward, that's how it's done. Watch his demonstartions, or just listen to that actual song. Each note is individual and clean from the rest. Just an opinion though!

@MajkeTiTvoje really? i was thinking about switching out the pickups in my washburn x30 i thought it was gonna be cheap!! i priced some pickups at around 90bucks i think they were, whats installation like?

@Mastr0fPuppts installation is not hard, but its a bit more complicated if youre installing an active pickup because its powered by a battery. its all in the manual :D

Quite good job except for a very small timing mistakes and I would suggest using some p.m. for the intro as it sounds like a chord instead of being heard one by one. And by the way flawless execution of vibratos. Most guitarists suck at vibrato (sometimes me as well) but yours are great.
