  • Burke is a Great Bass player, as well as Tony being a Great Guitarist...

  • great band. brings back alot a memories from the 70's

  • Brilliant band..Had the pleasure of meeting them when the band I was in (Bleak House)supported them many years ago.

  • hahahahahahaha i looked up the word budgie in urban dictionary to find out that it is a parrotlike bird from New Zealand and a ROCKING classic band... why have i not heard of them till now?

  • @jonathanguitar27 because you were not in San Antonio, Texas where KISS FM played most of their music... originally their name was Six Ton Budgie

  • How don't more people know about this band!!!!!! DX

  • I saw Budgie in 1978 at a small club in the US -- the Starwood on the Hollywood Strip. It was their Impeckable tour. They were "impeckable"!! These many years later I have never understood why they weren't big here in the states. There is no figuring matters of mass taste when it comes to music.

  • They were the first band I ever listened to back in the 70s & never looked back. Awesome band & fantastic albums. Youth of today should be educated on rock like this & not all the reality crap thats about today. Rock on brothers & sisters, Budgie rocks 4evaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!

  • Thank god for KSHE95,in the early years!

  • I'm 16 and i cant imagine why no one knows this awesome band now a days.

  • my friend turned me on to budgie an dust in 78 when i was 15 n st.louis

  • que suerte que estan en ingles los comentarios asi puedo decir: EUA se come mi PENE!!!!

  • Love the whole thing, but that skipping snare beat at 4.02 and the triple choke on the cymbal at 4.08 catches me every time.

  • Budgie totally rocks with Sky high percentage!!!!! Thanks K-SHE for being there back then!!!! Rock-N-Roll St. Louis!!!!!!!!!!

  • bad ass nevr heard of em till i saw that metallica redid breadfan....listening to alot more of them now i was 2 yrs old when they did this song

  • STL still has it's appeal even though I'm a NW girl now :)

  • great melody, harmony, chord changes....these guys were great.....sooo underated.

  • Im from St Louis area , seen Budgie 1975 in Germany, been a fan eversince

  • I downloaded a different version of this song via BearShare which sounded like a demo. This is obviously the original studio version of the song but does "If I Weren't Brittania..." have a demo version of this song too? Where'd the version of the song I have come from?

  • @bucky468

That version is on a two disc set I bought years ago called "Rarest Eggs". It has a lot of early Live and Radio material as well as an entire concert from 1978.

  • @KevinR1138 you upload the entire concert if you can!

  • What's sad is that this great classic rocker can't even get 55K views as a whole while vids on YT of some weird 15 yr old kid lip syncing to crappy music like Justin Bieber, Lady GaGa, Katy Perry & 50 Cent is getting over a 500K views each day. That kid obviously doesn't know great music when he hears it. I don't care if he has a rare disease. He needs to rock out & lip sync to REAL music like this. Can the bullshit & break on through to the other side.

  • YEAH!!!!! GREAT BAND KICKIN SONG!!!!!!!!!!! I wish I heard of them earlier!! It took MegaDave to mention them before I was turned onto PARENTS which hooked me in right away!!!!!!!!!!! WOW!!!

  • YEAH!!!!! GREAT BAND KICKIN SONG!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I can't get enough of this band I even gotta budgie radio station on pandora that constantly plays songs by them that I haven't heard before. This I just heard today and its probably one of my favorites already mainly cause of that insanely tasty riff

  • Hey I'm From St. Louis too! We listened to Budgie in the late 70's as teenagers!

Also remember K-SHE. Although Budgie wasn't on air too often. Lotsa country-rock.

    OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • @taynardi Im from St. Louis area also. 1st seen Budgie 1975 in Frankfurt, Germany, K-SHE still plays them mainly on their Sunday classic show

  • One young guy 40 yrs old says man you lucky you got to see lots of good bands and Budgie was one of my favorite watching Tony Bourge play "Parents" up close making faces as he was playing.

  • i still wonder why they are as popular as deep purple or zeplinn.....really talented

  • Comment removed

  • sorry i didnt care for this albumn much,I really liked bandolier much better

  • Another awesome song from this very underated group. You guys talking about Stl., I live 150 miles south of the city and I've gotta turn it on KSHE everytime I'm in town.

btw what's with the Jackie Gleason pic in the vid haha?

  • unique style of rock then and now.

  • Hey, I'm from St. Louis too! I miss KSHE! Went to rock & roll school through KSHE. The best! Very fond memories. I remember the flourescent multi colored bumper stickers they had (which I had on my car's bumper) and I was driving down Watson Rd. with a g/f at the time and John Uhlitt (sp.) pulls up next to us at a light and we start talking....we pulled over and talked music for a bit. What a great guy. Is he still there? Any of you have a Facebook page?

  • It's all about the album graphics and getting stoned to some nominal tunes.

  • Im turning 14 this week and it seems like theres really nobody, who knows this band. I ask my frends if they know the band called Budgie, but... Funny part of this is, that Im a girl, and Ive never heard of a female listening to this band :D

  • @elsuliini That's alright. I'm 52, was your age when this band was first around, everyone was into Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Stones, etc. and i just heard of

    Budgie about 3 years ago.

  • @elsuliini P.S. Since you're a girl, you might want to check out a couple other bands with female vocalists, The Divinyls, and Baby Animals, both from Australia, in case you haven't heard of them.

  • @elsuliini well, I''m a girl, well, an old lady..and I've been listening to Budgie since I was a very young girl.

  • Yes, love it! Thanks.

  • I'm only 24 but i know a great band when I hear one, I'm hooked on Budgie, but its impossible to get their albums, I try vintage vinyl every once in a while, but so far all i got is Bandolier and Never Turn Your Back on a Friend. Hey wabah I'm here is STL too, maybe you can reccomend one of those free programs you were talking about.

  • you can buy cd's from amazon!!

  • @IncredibleALC yes, i'm trying to pluck some Budgie albums myself with little luck. Would love to first get their Greatest Hits and work back from there. I'm on Long Island in NY metro area. Any suggestions?

  • Bloody awsome.

  • Hell yeah, I'm only 24, but I know a great band when i hear it, I'm also from St. Louis, and KSHE needs to start playing more Budgie. Also they need to put Budgie on Itunes, I'm gettin sick of trying to find these albums at vintage vinyl. hey Wabah, I'll pay you to burn me some cds

  • i had this album when i was 15

    in 1975

    ...loved it

  • Scratch last comment.. I listened to their "Who do you want for you love". this song almost sounds like it has a bit of John Lennon'esque to it (Vocal wise not guitar style). But when I clicked on "Who do you want for your love" I figured out who they were as I remembered that song being played a lot from my older brothers. But the styles of the two songs are completely different so I couldn't figure out who these guys were.

  • Damn.. I never really listened to this band before. I can see where Rush may have been influenced. I was born in 65 so I don't know if this was on the radio in the late 60s but I know most other bands of that era. I wonder how come I never heard of their stuff. I recall the name but not the music. I wonder what other delightful things I can find from the 60s and early 70s I may have never heard. Any suggestions anyone?

  • Still touring but changed their line up a few times. Met Burk Shelly and he's a really nice guy but felt guilty as I got him out of his dressing room after the last concert of a European tour

  • yes today is the first time i heard of budgie, great band

they do remind me of rush also....a very highly talented trio of musicians that never got the recognition deserved.....

im downloading budgie now as i type....

  • this albumn sucks impeckable is more better

  • My Music Really Sux Compared To This

  • i found this band when i was watching bredfan Cover by metallica!!! Thanks Youtube!

  • Snap.

  • budgie for ever

  • Budgie is one of the best unknown bands out there. But I don't need to tell you. I mean, you searched for them here!

  • these guys kinda sound like rush

  • @blackened247 You mean Geddy Lee.

  • blackened247: perhaps in, like, 1973!

  • One of the best classic rock songs. It is too bad most radio stations dont play this song....

  • Haven't heard this in a long time. Saw them with Moxie, Michael Schenker @ Sunken Gardens in SA a few years ago.

  • I'm a St Louisan stuck in Cincinnati. KSHE for life!

  • St. Louis is the best city in the world and it just is!

  • I live in St. Louis too. My uncle turned me on to this song. True rock! To the former "ST.LOUISANS" common back. There is no place like home! PS KSHE still rocks

  • budgie all that rock stands for.

  • my mom played this all the time when i was young.the dam song stick in ur head

  • Damn you have one cool Mom!

  • Another St. Louisan (stuck in Ohio) chiming in here.......Thanks to K-SHE Classics for turning me onto such great music. Budgie ROCKS!!! Check out "Parents".

  • If you can pick up WJCU 88.7 in Cleveland on Sat mornings (10-2) you will hear Budgie, Atomic Rooster, Hanoi Rocks, Capt Beyond, and more obscure rockers on "kick out the jams". Also online. Not just music but discography and stories as well.

  • 88.9 in Cincinnati does much of the same

  • Mitch, I listen to him every week. Sometimes he'll play some stinkers on his "quest for the ultimate riff" . I did learn of Budgie from his show as well as Buffalo from Australia.

  • mrmott44 is right. If you like hard rock of any sort, I recommend listening to that show online. I haven't lived in Cleveland for 7 years but I still listen to that show. He has been on for about 30 years now, and plays unbelievable stuff. Mitch Kapka is his name. And the stories about the bands, etc... are lamost as good as the songs. He plays everything hard from the 60s to today. Great show.

  • is there a video for you're opening doors.

  • Brilliant Band, love everything they have done,

  • Så jävlva bra låt = So Fucking Great Song!!!

  • Thansk so much for posting Budgie songs, i started listening to this band when i was in JR High School and i`m well into my forties now and i still listem to them!!!!

  • Damn, thanks for this good ol' jam.

  • Well I always thought "who needs the Quo when you've got Budgie"

  • thanks a ton wabah thank god i had freinds turn me onnto this shit in 74 and there was no turning back

  • No problem, glad you enjoyed.

  • Saint Louis LOVES Budgie. K-SHE always championed them. How dare you imply otherwise PORSCE951928. Your attitude implies that although you live in CA, you are still a fucking hoosier.Fuck you, you self aggrandizing douchebag.

  • I'm from the St. Louie area... love that Budgie and really miss the old K-SHE Klassics :)

  • One of the best Guitar rif's ever this song Fucking Rocks!!!! I was into this band many years ago my friends never got it though? Maybe that's why I am rich in CA. & they are poor in MO. "Either you Rock or you Suck"

  • LOL, I live in St.Louis Mo.

  • I was born there so I am not putting it down. It's just people get in a groove there and never get out. All of my friends are doing exactly what they were doing 20 years ago.

I learned about this song there on KSHE 95

I wasn't sure who Budgie was and thought a chick was the singer at first LOL

  • I know what you mean, and they still play that on K-SHE on Sundays sometimes. I guess, I don't listen to much main stream radio anymore. The reason I put obscure songs up is for people to comvert youtube videos to mp3. Then they can save them to their harddrive. There are a few free programs that will do that for you. I've got some friends from St.Louis that live out there on La. Culvert city. Can you believe they want to move back to St.Louis? Weird.

  • @wabah5858 I listen to K-SHE too! St. Louis = big small town. :o)

  • @PORSCHE951928 i just heard this on kshe today =oD

i mean ive heard of budgie but not this song lol

  • @PORSCHE951928

    ty durny ciulu!

  • Great album, so many big bands have covered these boys.

  • Loved this song when I was a young dude, brings back some high times.LOL.

    Thanks for posting it. LG

  • Så jävlva bra låt..

  • Wish I knew what that means.
