Diablo 3 should have had 5 or 6 classes and be able to choose the sex and appearance of your character, with levels going to 100, designed to play a min. of 120 game hours. This is why as other games hit the market that are similar Blizzard, while producing a great product will make far less on it due to its lack of options in characters. I loved the Druid Class. How about a Ranger class that can use two weapons w/advancement and bows, and have assorted outdoor powers in add to gaining allies.

Diablo 3 is starting with 5 classes: Barbarian, Witchdoctor, Monk, Demon Hunter, and the Wizard. The other six classes from Diablo 2 (Druid, Paladin, Sorceress, Amazon, Assassin, Necromancer) don't return because those characters supposedly went insane.

Now, in the inevitable D3 expansion, there will likely be more playable classes. It's possible some of the old ones will return, since technically only those characters died, and not the classes as a whole. It's possible we may yet see a Druid

@wowfan252 No it's not. The barbarian in Diablo 2 is one from the far north lands, Harrogath. They would probably make it the same in 3. The vikings are also from the north but not so far, they would also probably have lightning spells and have sailed a long time to get there.

Since it appears the Amazon won't make an appearance either, I wonder what class will fulfill the role of utilizing javelins and spears, if any. All that I could feasibly see is the Barbarian, since Barbarians are masters of all branches of weaponry. Based on the "leaked artwork" of a ranger-like class (which is questionable at best) I actually expect a bow-based character that has bird companions. Like a hawk or eagle at their side. Sort of like in Ragnarok, but I'm just speculating.

[Barbarian] - Self-explanatory.

[Monk] - I see the Monk as a hybrid of the Paladin and Assassin. Hence, neither of those D2 classes will be in Diablo 3.

[Witch Doctor] - The Witch Doctor is a replacement of the Druid and Necromancer. Hence, neither of those D2 classes will be in D3.

[Wizard] - Obviously the re-imagined Sorceress.

The only class needing to be "re-imagined", per se, is the Amazon. So expect a ranged class

Sadly i think the necro is gone for good, knowing blizzard they love to make "hybrid classes/races" The witch doctor is clearly the druid/necro combination, and most likely the 5th class will be the amazon/assassin hybrid. Probably a Rogue, Ranger, etc. Look @ warcraft3 for further proof. The undead have characteristics of protoss and zerg (summon buildings/blight) Likewise NE's wisps were lost once you made a structure, likewise their buildings are organic. (terran/zerg)
