  • This song is so underrated. Music from the streets. this is how society was & felt then.

  • that is one scary clown.

  • Which mix of the song is this?

  • wicked song - my fav Mondays tune. I feel like laying around drinking Night Nurse after listening to this! - or scoring some brown

  • was there last night mint he was on form

  • I'd love to see the remix of this by Harley and Feller...

  • @CosmicTDI I just posted up the one I think you mean

  • @Rowetta

That's not it. It's either labeled as a Fire Island Remix or Heller and Farley Remix.

  • @CosmicTDI Someone sent me this one as the Fire Island Remix. I'll change it. Sounds like the Boys Own mix

  • @Rowetta Is this THE Rowetta? If so, are any plans "to get the band back together" in some form and play in Boston?

  • Fun to watch...people utterly fucking blasted on more drugs than a pharmacy could carry. Yet the music is still compelling. Again, Shaun was...SO. FUCKING. HIGH.

  • when i am listening those great music - i feel kinda old but happy because this and the rest from madchester crew really made music scene much richer and better. those were the days my friend......

  • Far out! I have a North American promo tape with a video for this song which is significantly different from this version! There are no WORDS flashed onscreen, the ending is completely different, there are a couple of quick scenes in this I do not recall, and there are a couple on my tape which are missing. Will try to post it. My 2nd or 3rd fav. band ever, this album got a bum rap, needs to be re-evaluated in light of the changing times.

  • rowettas solo bit is the best part of the track.I think.

  • paul davis what a fanny !

  • I saw shaun Ryder in the swimmin baths when I took my son swimmin about three weeks ago, I said " hey are you Shaun Ryder or do you just look like him?" he winked an said "Shaun who?" ha! Top man!!

  • the great thing about The Stone Roses and Happy Mondays is they were out at the same time both huge and at the same time both totally different I MISS THOSE DAYS

  • the great manchester sound . never again .

  • @allan1162 : while there aren't any bands that are exactly like The Stone Roses or the Mondays, there are a few bands that are at least attempting to re-create the sound i.e. The Ruling Class, Kasabian, Bavarian Druglords, and to an extent, WOrking for a Nuclear Free City. Check em out, they're pretty cool.

  • WOW rowetta is a really good singer !

  • Shaun Ryder was the ugliest man in pop music.

were they the true prole answer to the fall?

  • Comment removed

  • great song ...shame it all went down the pan and into their noses and veins after this

  • I wonder what the Stone Roses and the Happy Mondays thought of each other, if anything.

  • they were all mates. the mondays felt the roses were more talented. they even got the roses demos and played them to Tony Wilson, saying it was the mondays demos.

  • yeah but tony wiulson dint like the roses because of his ex wife of the time

  • I know Shaun Ryder really loved the Stone Roses. He said: Even my left leg would have made them big, they could make it on their own talent.

  • much respect as us northen lads do

  • dont know how you possibly reach gordon brown when chatting about the mondays. i agree though to a certain extent. quickstart band, elland road 91 partygoer.

  • Its a ratty pie!

  • yes fuckin yes shawn ryder true legend singing for the true people of this planet fuck gordon brown in shawn ryder

  • But I like it boring and drugged out. Right on,

  • Your mum is boring & drugged out.

  • Was this the straw that broke the camels back at factory? Top album though....

  • Yes Please is the only album of theirs I don't own. I like this song but is the rest of the album as strong as this? This was the main single from Yes Please, after all. I'm not putting the album down. I have only heard this. Everyone says the album sucks though, so ehhh.

  • I have this on vinyl! Don't care about it anymore.

Don't care som much about 'indie' music anymore because you grow older and lyrics gets more important than the music in itself. That's why Bob Dylans music will live forever!

When that's said, Shaun Ryder is a great lyricists! The best of his generation. No doubt!

  • Other way around. As i get older, i care less about the lyrics, now i mainly listen to instrumental stuff. Take no heroes.

  • pinheadsen, does your vinyl copy have the hidden track at the end where Shaun starts phoning people like the queen up?lol

Had my mates big brothers cd on one night and when it got to the end that came on. Almost ended myself laughing as I'd never heard it before.

The copy I've got must be a re-release cause they've taken it off the album : (

  • Must dig out my cd of this because it is funny, Shaun sounds quite put out when he can't talk to the president!

  • It's better than the critics say, which should be taken for granted because it was produced by Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth from Talking Heads / Tom Tom Club. I grant that it was the wrong album for the times but it's got some great stuff on it. Get a used copy for a dollar, it's worth it just for Love Child.

  • Yes Please is not as bad as critics say but this is by far the best track on the album, the rest of the album is so-so and definitely their weakest release.

  • brilliant. nay sayers, leave yes please alone.

  • What a great clip!

    Totally luv it.

  • This is like my life's theme tune! Plus a good dash of 24hr Party People! Sad Sundays & Happy Mondays!

  • So this was the original version huh? I only heard the house remix back in the day.

  • once again, a classic lyric from shaun

  • Yes Please is so underrated
