does anyone know how I could "partition" my big screen 46" Samsung to perform in a similar some software or something that gives 4 small desktops as 1
can some one please help me i have a 15" laptop with SIS mirage graphics i have a 23" monitor and it is all conected via VGA it can detect the monitor i can duplicate them but when i try to extend the display it does not show up on my 23" display but on my laptop it has an empty taskbar can some one please leave some sugestions
i have tried every thing from ultramon th maxivista
It's really awesome but so much screen makes your computer slower, so I think it's not really a "supercomputer" but a super screen. Btw, where is the computer...?
@Multi350z Considering he doesn't have a good GPU, he is running XP a 10 year old OS right now and it is probably 1 GPU with 4 monitors it will definitely lag. Also with a GPU and CPU intensive program such as Google Earth that probably doesn't help either.
just haveing 4 monitors donst make a super omputer nany pc can handle upto like 8 monitors with ease now haveing a card able to run a 3,000,000x2,500,000 resolution monitor would be super as the proccesor power and graphics power to manage all of that would be so extensive you may just possibly need a hol desktop pc stuffed full with proccesors. not even the i7 can controll that.
if you buy 22'' triples from super pc it will cost you 1400 dollars but wtf is the point when you can get like 24'' full hd screens for 200dollars each? :D
Can you please tell me how can i use two monitors ( i have them set up already) but i want to use them or different work like for xample one i will have the calendar open, and on the other one i can wok surf the internet .thank you
1 large lcd monitor is still only really usefull for looking at one program. I use 3 monitors on my system and I would never give them up for one large one, because I often need to have multiple programs all up and running at once. Not to mention you can then run differnt color profiles on each monitor, which is invaluable when doing photography or any sort of video compositing.
However, if all you do is play games on it, then multiple monitors is a waste... go for the big one.
There are programs that setup quadrants in the "large monitor".... what's the point of pixelating any single program across a 42'' screen? Makes no sense unless it's some form of media
I do a ton of software architecture and I regularly have 10 or more applications open at once. It's great to have multiple monitors so I can have my IDE open on one side, testing scripts on a vertical-oriented monitor in the middle, and say.. my test server on the other side.
Multiple monitors isn't for everyone, but for those of us with a real need, it's invaluable.
Does anyone know if there is some sort of adapter that allows you to have 2 or more computers connected to one screen, so you can switch between the two?
My mom's laptop could do this, or... Well - Probaly with a triplehead to go and if you count the included one.. This isnt hard, let's see you play Crysis with the same Computer (same resulution ofc xD)
Easy there kid, its called 2 GTX295s and a laptop need to have a GPU that supports 2 monitors, this guy is running crossfire or SLI to get 4 monitors on a very powerful CPU.
The reason it's better than one big screen is the resolution. sure you can get a single massive screen, but to get one above 1920x1080 (1080P or i) is REALLY REALLY expensive. so using a single monitor would look like shit. I use 6 screens on my system at a total resolution of 3840x2048. and it didn't cost much. The point is to look at a lot of stuff at once, not one very big image. ...once you go multi-head, you never go back.
agreed. While this may function OK with seperate programs, it's trash when you want it just to be one big one. HAving one large monitor is far better, but of course it's expensive...
How would you play a video and have it display to all four of the monitors, like one big screen? And also how would you just hav a video and play it on just one of the monitor?
@tomjonhson1987 Well, multiscreening isnt only for videos. ITs good for photshopping, video-EDITITING, multi-gaming, or using the whole screen to whatever u want. Myself i use one screen for gaming and another for my music or facebook.
I need some feedback as to a great computer just for stock trading.
What specs are good for such, without the distraction of a 3d video card that can rob a trader of necessary resources? How about Vista OS 64 bit with 6gb ram? Some computer builders say that Vista is not as stable as XPP and 64 bit OS maybe incompatible with some applications.
Great reply, we were just about to say the same thing. Big screens are always better for watching video and movies, but most people don't use multiple monitors for full screen video. It's more useful for multi-tasking and high-resolution editing and things of that sort.
Except that this has 3x4 times the resolution as an HDTV. I agree that a large screen would be better for video and movies though. Not for multi-tasking and hi-resolution beyond HD.
Regardless of how big the resolution is a 40" monitor would give 1920X1080 resolution, and multi tasking is the same except there are no guide marks, in this case you use your monitors borders as them. Software is meant to help you with multi-tasking not hardware, although I think that having 2 monitors is a must. Just my 2 cents.

sometimes it will also allow you to change the layout so you can have say 4 in a line, 2x2, or customise. And as SpcMart said you can use the windows individually unlike a simple large monitor
That's a whole different concept. The resolution of this setup is four times a large Monitor or HDTV. This is designed more for the individual use of each monitor, but with properties where the windows can be interactive with other wondows, such as Copy and Paste function.
