I wish they had a better camera angle for this. The collision of the two hockey players barely looks like it would have caused someones skates to come high enough off the ice to hit someone in the face. It really just doesn't look like the kind of play that someone would get seriously injured on, but I hope the referee is fine.

it turns out that not only did the skate BREAK his nose, it cut clean through. also he has about 90 stitches (i believe). and a few cheek fractures. AND was miraculously able to coach a hockey game the sunday after the incident. obviously not speaking too much.

i heard all of this last night while speaking with him and one of my managers at the ice skating rink that he coaches at, and i also used to be employed at.
