@Curseco Don't wana give too much away...but when he took control of the system that controls all the weapons, he basically made everything from the soldiers guns to the helicopter in operable...and as you saw, he also made the soldiers inoperable. Hope that makes sense...it all revolves around the nano machines connecting everything/one.

@Curseco It's never really explained in full detail how the system works, but presumably when he unlocked the system his nanomachines were given authority over all weapons, vehicles and nanomachines within the system. So he was in fact controlling them with his own nanomachines. To answer your question: he does possess a kind of mental ability to turn off all the weapons, helicopters and soldiers, because his nanomachines have authority.

Worst part about this scene? "Big Boss" twitches at 6:46, implying that even though he's "locked-in" he's still at least somewhat conscious of what's happening. Not only is he a quadruple amputee whose skin was flayed from his body, he's aware of his condition and conscious of the fact that he's about to be burned alive. Gruesome stuff.

He has control of Sons of the Patriots, which can allow him to control soldiers weapons, equipment, and nanomachines. There are ID chips inside of every weapon a soldier carries that has to match with the soldier's nanomachines or else it can't be used. All Liquid had to do was disconnect their nanomachines. Also, when a soldier's nanomachines get disconnected from the system it really screws with them.

You got a point, but that wouldn't work. The whole reason Liquid's insurrection was so successful was because the militaries of the world, now with S/O/P implemented, had become so dependent on technological weapons and the system, that once Liquid got a hold on it, they were rendered powerless.

This scene can be considered a message to the people of the world not to put faith in one specific factor, because once you lose it, you're shittin' in your pants.

The only reason the cinemas are so long is because they got rid of the codec conversations telling the story for full blown cinemas to tell it instead.. And I think its awesome. Anyone who has followed the storyline and watched the characters grow over the years will.
