Ha. This is ridiculous. Full sail thinks they can teach you to be an engineer with a laptop pro tools and a 57. You can't learn to be an engineer online kids. Full sail and all other schools like it are a ripoff.

@crashdog5866 You can't learn to be an engineer online. Your right about that. But thats why the engineering program is an on campus course to get a hands on approach. The online course is music production. Which now-a-days takes place virtually on a DAW. So yes music production can be taught online just as the same as any online nursing program.

Music is mixed and edited generally in daws now but 90% of what you hear on the radio is real instruments. Sounds like a this is clever way to convince you that you can learn to create music in your bedroom. You can't learn any of this stuff except for in a real world environment. And that means you can't learn it online or in any school.

It's sad that most people who go to Full Sail don't realize that for the cost of tuition they could build a bad ass studio and start making money recording.

Problem is, there is very little money in recording right now. Since everybody downloads stuff off the internet for free lots and lots of studios have closed up shop. Poor career choice at the moment, that's for sure.

@maureeke2010 Recording is an important part of music production. If they are going to send you a mic, they might as well send you something that is more appropriate for recording than just a performance mic. Shure mics are usually great, but it's still no SM58.

@JTLeFevre SM58 is a dynamic vocal mic, SM57 is a dynamic instrument microphone. The SM58 was made by Shure in 66 for vocals, The SM57 was made in 65. SM57's and many other dynamic instrument microphones are used in most professional studios. So my question would be what could more appropriate for recording? A vocal mic that would crap out the first time you try to record an instrument, or a instrument mic that could still be used for recording vox, with a wider frequency response. Almostthesame
