  • Great Video!

  • Miss my years grooming, did it for 10 winters in older Thiokols and PB270s. You guys have runs that skip grooming would work very well on..was a common technique before the days of tillers.

  • @snowcatlawnmower In your sandbox? haha

  • cool video!!!!

but i hope you guys were not serious and this video was all for laughs. from your lines and quality of product, i wouldn't ski those runs. @ :55, if you blow out going down...go up! now you have to go back and fix those lines while wasting fuel and time. come to my mountain and groom here. its a very "humbling" mountain.

  • @Bandit1436 whats your mountain? we are all professionals, if u seriously think we left it like that give your head a shake, we make ske canada magazine #1 for best grooming year after year

  • these things are a joke!! i could do way more with my tractor!!

  • @fendtman10 if snowcats are a joke why do all major resorts use them? your tractor wouldnt be able to handle the slopes on snow bud

  • @fendtman10 dude im a farmer as well as a professional groomer, the snow cat and a tractor are 2 different breeds of machine with different purposes, think about it

  • @fendtman10

yeah right. Whats your tractor got under the hood? Whatever it is, it won't outwork a 350 HP cat turbo diesel in the br350. i'd love to see you try to climb a mountain with your tractor though. Maybe if you're lucky one of the groomers will come help you when you get stuck

  • @strattongroomer lets see your br350 pull a manure tank that weighs 35 ton down the road at 50km.

  • @fendtman10

why don't you bring your tractor out sometime and show us how its done then. I'm sure wherever you go, the groomers will be glad to sit back and laugh at you

  • @strattongroomer my family runs cat tractors, tracked, one with 425hp, one with 360, and they would still get buried lol, but they would sure outpull most snowcats, and theyre faster, but yes, useless on snow. Im trying to get my head in the door to groom at my local hill this year, liftied last year and did a damn good job of it, just dont want to put up with customers too much... and i want to farm snow...

  • @phil656565

Grooming definitely beats being a lifty. No customers to deal with like you said and you don't have to stand around all day and freeze your a-- off. Do you have any connections to the groomers at your local hill? I tried the local hill thing for a couple years but didn't get anywhere with it because it was the same small group of people doing it every year and when they needed somebody new they just got one of their friends. I ended up saying enough was enough and went to

  • @strattongroomer

the bigger mountains. They usually have openings each year because they have a bigger department. I'm glad I did too because the training is better, the equipment is better ( we get 2 brand new cats every year) and the skiing/riding in your off time is better

  • @strattongroomer ive been doing maintenance but one of our cat drivers just quit and I got the grooming job, any tips for a newbie?

  • @phil656565

Use your blade, ask the veterans lots of questions and take care of your machine. Just because they can turn around in place, doesn't mean you have to do it like that. Have fun too. That's also important

  • @strattongroomer Thanks, yeah I dont like turning tracked machines around like that, and it tears the snow up, and the machine. Ive been driving tracked tractors for 10-11 years, but the groomers still a different ballgame. Started yesterday, I think I did a pretty good job, nice smooth run, but that was in a foot of fresh, which made it pretty easy. I'll always have fun running a nice piece of engineering, have a good one.

  • @strattongroomer yeah i know the owners pretty well, and most of the employees from last year. They just got two used (new to us) prinoth 350's and one of the old drivers quit, so theres a cat that needs a driver. Hopefully i'll get the job but if not ill probably help out with lift maintenance, theyre also thinking about adding cat skiing so I could possibly drive for that. Id love to go to cmc and do their grooming program but ive gotta finish mechanical engineering first.

  • Great video, you guys do such a fantastic job for us skiers..... thank you.
