It appears with a large investment you could make a very sustaining system that could easy provide a large ROI but would just require a initial large investment.
i would like to start a business like this but, i live in Canada so it would need to be indoors and insulated for the winter. However i would like to grow vertically with small DWC tanks fer lettuce and aero for other plants. I would use LED lights to try and minimize the power usage. but i hope with green energy developments in wind, power will more cheaply available or even free for me with the right system. With power taken care of heating with geothermal would be awesome.
Can you tell me a bit more about the system design,i didn't see any Nft channels or Media grow beds, do you use only raft system, how many fish tanks with how many fish ,i am in the Southern Caribbean and i want to start doing aquaponics but I'm not sure how to design my system....can you help.....thanks..!
Amazing system! I'm a Pioneer with an open source sustainable community project called OneCommunityRanch (dot org) and we are getting ready to build a huge aquaponics system to grow our own organic food. We are accepting members skilled in this area. We are sharing everything we do open source with the world. Would love to have you visit! Thank you for your inspirational videos!!
@peaceinstead fantastic. please look up a very successful open source sustainable community project called 'Open Source Ecology - Global Village Construction Set'. maybe your organisation, & theirs, can help each other..? Good luck.
The business should be called: Green Acre Aquaponics.
Lots of research indicates that petrochemical polymers even from 'food grade' plastics leach out phalates etc. these oestrogen mimicking compounds cause Florida's alligators small genitals, U.K. trout spawn wrong time. Potable water should be from at least better pipes than PVC. Polyethylene would be better. I use food grade polypropylene. Food processing factories have to use stainless by Law. Low food miles with chemicals???
The move toward sustainability is progressive and we need to do the best we can at all times. The complete elimination of plastics in an Aquaponic food production process is a difficult thing to achieve....yet. Driving a commute in city traffic for an hour will deliver to your body more toxins than a lifetime of a very small (minute) contact with PVC pipe in an AP system.
The reality of the pipe work in an AP system is that it quickly becomes coated internally with a very dense bio film.
@MaterialiseYDreams I agree, and this is also why you really can not trust organic food to be truely organic, unless you know exactly how it was produced.
One is either practising hydroponics, aquaculture or combines the 2 for aquaponics. But using the term Organics is bending terminology. Certified Organics is covered per country by national + international standards. A tough Nat.Organic /Biodynamic Produce Std. in Australia would not accept hydr or aquqponics. Plants should be feed colloidal compounds formed by soil biology into humus. Water feeding is force feeding Nitrate to the plants two root systems. Nitrate = Methemoglobinemia.
you guys are super lucky, id love to have a aquaponics farm, not to be a millionaire, just to simply have and start changing the way we are farming in this world, especially the usa
i just recently heard a figure that blew my mind, only something like 2 percent of corn grown in the usa is sweet corn, the rest is field corn, basically nutritionless industrial product
aquaponics would really change a lot in this nation
@dramey03 Then do what they said....start small, you could even make a small aquaponics system for a single plant and a couple of gold fish.....and believe me, along the way as you learn, you'll have less heart-attack....I had a lot in my early trial like finding about three dozen tilapia fish gasping for air in a half foot deep water when my piping leaked during the night.....don't worry dramey, you can do it and so does everyone else....
choice of music is odd

I like the end. Best way to go, directly to the consumer, no middle men which increases the supply chain.
