  • What I always find amazing about this game is that at 14:04, virtually every black piece is en prise and yet Black is easily winning. Incredible calculations by Rubinstein...

  • Great Analysis... Please more games :)

  • That rewind to demonstrate how black managed to win some tempos (well, how white lost them) was really instructive. Thanks.

  • exellent

  • thanks...

  • watch fishers first win aganist a grand master exucution vs old ideas smashed

  • Such a brilliant game deserves great comments. Very instructive video, just that i believe one cant learn to play like this. This game with its perfect finish will always be a magic mystery, even modern top games dont have such a level of mastery.

    Thx a lot for upload!

  • Great video, great teacher, thanks.

  • Great commentary

I love how you put little lessons in the middle of the analysis

  • @Franchan10 Thanks. :)

  • You seriously just tought me ALOT about pawns! Thanks so much! Im a beginner and I really suck at chess and I never knew when to move my pawns and you reallly helped me to understand when I should push my pawns and why TY :D.

  • @Brasharful ;)

  • thank you so much Jerry... I wouldn't hope such a lesson... God bless you

  • @Nasos228 You're welcome. :)

  • at 1:52, why a6? why not a5 to prevent the b4 push? can someone please explain? :) thanks for the video jerry

  • amazing!

  • this is great. I'm just starting to get into the game. I have been playing the Tarrasch system quite a bit against d4 openings, the part about making the bishops move twice to gain a tempo, and the part about not making rash, short-sighed pawn moves, were both very helpful things to think about.

  • @shiitaco same here, thanks!

  • you really gave an excellent indepth description of that fine game

  • @akomapochuff i wish he'd get a move on though - the big chess channels on yt are pitched to the very lowest common denominator, good for what they are but i remember now why i generally avoid Jerry and Kevin's uploads. No disrespect to either of them.

  • Is it just me or does Jerry sound quite irritable in this analysis?

  • why not at 1:50 do ...Qa5?

  • @chessleach Why should black play Qa5? It seems like it has the potential to backfire after b4 as some point.

  • Your analysis is very deep. I enjoyed watching this video. Thanks

  • At 9:36 f4 was played to meet Bxh2+ and if Kxh2 Qd6+ Kg1 and Qxd3 and black is up a pawn.

  • Very informative keep it up Jerry you the man!

  • Excellent explanation Jerry. I subscribed your channel. Thanks.

  • I saw something at the end, If Queen eats bishop, it`s still not a mate.

  • @1john2dee Which Bishop? It can't take black bishop, Q is pinned. Or, if it takes the white bishop it is still mate with Rxh1

  • Hmm.A Tarrasch Defense. Why don't you do a game analysis of a game played by this Tarrasch guy.

  • Haha, I love the John Madden moment. And that was a beautiful queen sacrifice.

  • Akiba was a fantastic player wasn't he. Alongside Paul Keres they are the two best players never to win the world championship crown. I love playing through Akiba's games he was a true chess genius.

  • Thank you. Very worthwhile analysis, as always.

  • brilliant commentary, Jerry...as always

  • what is the word you use at 0:41 regarding the bishops? ive heard it loads but never been able to spell it

  • @aron3535 Fienchetto

  • @ChessNetwork

It is actually spelled with an "a" : fianchetto.

  • @MrVrijwilliger1 Opps! Thank you.

  • @aron3535 Opps! Fianchetto

  • @ChessNetwork

btw. U are actually the first guy Ive listened to who pronounced it properly. Intuition tells us to pronounce it like (say) China. Actually in the italian there's a rule that ch is pronounced like k. Just like in Chianti (vino ;)) or Gnocchi. gh works accordingly. Compare Lamborghini or Spaghetti. H makes the difference (not Heroin :D).

  • At 12:43, doesn't the simple Bishop takes bishop finish the job?

  • @LedZeppelinSongs no the queen is protecting the white bishop

  • @KooLRajK

    Then Q x h2 would be mate.

  • Excellent!

  • Jerry man this was an awesome explanation and the Madden reference had me cracking up!!!! Keep up the good work man....I just subscribed!

  • @BeatmanRay Thanks BeatmanRay...nice to have you along! :)

  • @ChessNetwork I do agree, really good video :D

    keep it up man

  • Awesome game and good analysis. I really like what you said about the downsides of the c4-c5 pawn advance. That is something newer players mess up a lot, and even more experienced players make the same strategic mistake of getting static pawns.

  • I can't wait for your 100th video!

  • Heres the moves if anyone is wondering:1.d4 d5 .Nf3 e6 3.e3 c5 4.c4 Nc6 5.Nc3 Nf6 6.dxc5 Bxc5 7.a3 a6 8.b4 Bd6 9.Bb2 0-0 10.Qd2? Qe7! 11.Bd3 dxc4 12.Bxc4 b5 13.Bd3 Rd8 14.Qe2 Bb7 15.0-0 Ne5! 16.Nxe5 Bxe5 17.f4 Bc7 18.e4 Rac8 19.e5 Bb6+ 20.Kh1 Ng4! 21.Be4 Qh4 22.h3 Rxc3!! 23.gxh4 Rd2!! 24.Qxd2 Bxe4+ 25.Qg2 Rh3! 0-1 I hop I got that right!

  • @Penguincw2 Thanks Pens! :)

  • @ChessNetwork No problem. It took me time to figure it out though. But it was worth it.

  • jerry question for you...at 14:11 ..ok you say its a multipurpose piece...but what is the benifit of it functioning along the file tho?I see what it does along the rank but the file? How is it really contributing in that way?

  • @lazimofo90 I think the purpose of Rook to d2 was to deflect the Queen. If the queen stopped defending the bishop it'd be checkmate after bxe4

  • what if h3 was played instead of g3?

  • You're the best, Jerry!

  • 11:26 perfect position for black :) and black's endgame is awesome......so many sacrifices !very good analysis

  • who the hell who dislike this?

  • Thank you so much for your videos. Listening to your analysis has improved my chess game so much!

  • I enjoyed watching the game, especially the end :-) keep the videos coming Jerry.

  • wow such a good player this rubinstein. I guess you don't call it immortal for nothing

  • Nice video once again Jerry, Just saw this video: /watch?v=2QARNRgsTxA don't understand what he's saying but found it intresting !

  • Crazy game! more please

  • Excellent vid, well done and I thought the Maddenesque treatment was helpful without going overboard.

  • nice vid as always.

  • great job Jerry ;) especially after such a long break it's good to watch your video. And I think that, this analysis it's one of the best in yours collection : )

  • great job Jerry ;) especially after such a long break : )

  • Nice game! Thanks for posting!

  • Superb analysis, as always! And what a superb example of a Queen-sac. Far beyond anything I could hope to plan and calculate, but just so beautiful to follow! Also, thanks for letting me start to appreciate the factor of interest in symmetrical positions -- being something of a chess moron I generally tend to see such positions as a little boring and upsetting: they simply leave me clueless of where to look for an advantage. Now I'm starting to get it.

  • Thx Jerry, I´m just starting to play but your videos are really helpful and easy to understand. Keep them coming!!!

  • Great video, great game. Your videos are very helpful man. Went from about a 1200 rating to over 1600 with the help of your videos. Keep it up

  • Great video Jerry! Keep it up!

  • i find your explanations " what if" very useful, i always have difficulties to calculate the position.....

    Thnx

  • Hey Jerry, as usual, lovely video. Quick question, what would happen, if instead of White taking the queen, he takes the rook on c3 with the bishop?

    Thanks!

  • great game, great analysis..learning a lot from your vids Jerry!!

  • great analaysis on a beautiful game :)

  • hahaha, I just about hurt myself laughing when you said "John Madden like", GREAT VID!!!!

  • love your videos. thanks.

  • excellent video as always.

  • Man, this video felt like a Christopher Nolan video when you pointed out the near-simmetry and then went back to explain it. Amazing video. You are, hands down, the best on YouTube as far as chess analysis goes.

  • Great video, you make all those complex topics seem so obvious. Again some new ways of thinking i could take out of this video to imply on my games. Thanks!

  • MORE VIDEOS PLEASE!!!!!!!

  • Jerry can you post a game of Botvinnik?

Botvinnik is my fave chess player/

  • Your analysis of this game is outstanding. Can't wait to see more from you.

  • The other reason that you don't want to push the C pawn to c5 is that it relieves the pressure in the center. NIce video =D

  • Very interesting game, thanks for the great commentary! =) Black's attack was devastating, shows how a relatively small mistake in the opening duplicates itself later.

  • Great game, great explanation! Thank you Jerry!

  • It's remarkable that you can explain move by move a complete grandmaster game and me be able to understand it. That's something that no other videos can do for me in 15 minutes! Well done and keep up the great work. Thanks!

  • nice work !!!! :)

  • Very worthwhile watch, fantastic!
