  • Excellent tune

  • If you're a fan of Howie Day, check out The Keepsake

  • @flyhoc SCRubs brought me here dude !?

  • his voice just doesn't compare to Joseph Arthur's tbh. It's not horrible, but it just doesn't sound right.

  • @lnr2983 yeah but I think this version is better to be played acoustically

  • @lnr2983 I would have to agree with that! :)

  • perf

  • WHERE DID YA GET THE PIC OF THE ORANGE SKY??? LOVE IT!!

  • @5500dannyk Thank google :D

  • anybody else here this off scrubs?

  • more feelings. bu thins sounds good

  • i love this song ♥

  • it's good but i think it should be a little slower and some of the words need to be drawn out more

  • @BehemothXIII like everything song is G D/F# Em C nowa days.

  • dudes this is not religious yes he says may gods love be with you but then : i'm even sure anymore if there;s someone in the sun or something like that :D

  • fucking brilliant.

  • i love this song... howie day rocks. thank you scrubs ;-)

  • Yeah ein Song for you. <- das ist dass geilste :'D. Lieblingslied <3.

  • @ToothedVagina Naja muss ein bisschen auf die Leute mit englischer Sprache achten, da diese der Mehrheit hier entsprechen :D

Darf ja nicht meine Herkunft verleugnen :D

  • this song is actually from joseph arthur

  • I've got the version with Chris Martin and Michael Stipe. I was lucky to get it before they removed it. It is the most beutiful thing :D

  • Comment removed

  • i was just reading this really sad post on facebook when this song was playing& now i feel like i'm gonna cry:L haha, but yeeah its really good:D <3

  • Joseph arthur wrote it but Peter gabriel performed it first.

  • a very good cover of this song! =D

  • wicked sweet

  • Does anyone who the original artist is??

  • @TheBots11

I'm pretty sure that the original was written by Joseph Arthur but performed by Peter Gabriel, Arthur performing it at a later date.

  • I like this version a little better than the michael stipe/chris martin version... michael stipe's voice is kinda flat in his version, this one sounds more soothing... though the there's no other like the original!

  • does anybody know who is sing the original version?

  • @PinkesGlueckskeks Joseph Artur. there's a great version by Chris Martin and Michael Stipe!

  • i like joseph arthurs version betterrrrr.

  • you can get it off limewire.

  • Howie Day sings and writes his own stuff as well as very good covers like this. Excellent stuff and more vivid than the original for me so more pleasing on the ear. Thanks.

  • wtf this song is shit compared to the original.. but its fucking good cover, but a cover is never better than the original. ever. as i said its a good cover. but far from better. what makes joseph arthur's song so good is its raw sound. its moving words and his ability to put god in his work while being against modern Christianity, no matter how new howie day is or young. or the riseing star he is. hell never top some one at there own masterpice. nor can joe top howie. haha

  • @lostfourgod Killswitch engage of the cover of holy diver, is much better then the original. D<

  • howie day is the most underrated artist hes so amazig he can do covers of any songs but he dont have 2 cuz his own songs are guines my favorite artist

  • joseph arthur's great song, howie day did it great!

  • I love the lyric's of this song.

  • Love this song

  • also you have to keep in mind that this recording is kinda outdated, howie has matured vocaly in the past few years, if he where to sing this today it would sound quite different i think. for the better that is! :P

  • i really love this song! but i dont think that joseph's song is better, howie day sings it more emotional.. i love it!

  • seems rushed. and less filled with raw emotion that J.A. has. If I had never heard JA's version, I would really like this...but...

  • i think joseph arthur and howie day is equally good singin this song... love em both versions

  • this version really sucks if you know joseph arthur's original... he just doesn't have the voice for this song. don't get me wrong "collide" is a great song but he will never be as good as joseph arthur

  • I disagree. I think version is amazing.

  • i dunno, i quite like this version, its sounds really tragic. but its really too similar to arthurs version, its a bit redundant

  • That's what I love about it. It sounds really sad at the end, but it it also sounds eerily similar to Arthur's version. I love both versions.

  • I don't know... he can't make this song sound good.. maybe beacuse i've allready heard the version made by Joseph Arthur.

  • joseph arthur sings it better.

  • This version seems rushed..

  • I adore this song and especially this version!!!

  • I wondering what went wrong.

I am falling down on your nees, asking for sympathy...

may gods love be with you! =)

great song, great voice, great guitar playing.

    luv it!

  • @checkoss

    this is america

  • Les 2 sont bien je trouve !

  • yeh howie day are great expecially with collide but joseph arthur is better at this one

  • In my opinion Joseph Arthur sings this song better, I like Howie Day, but this song just isn't for him.

  • I think it too

  • Hi, you are right so much! I love Howie but he can do much better! He is great when he sings his own songs....he doesn`t have to do covers....

  • king capts lock^^

  • YOUR VOICE IS WONDERFUL

  • I think if the guitar was played softer and it had like, a cello in the background, it'd be much better and have a lot more emotion in it.

it's still pretty damn good, better than most covers.

  • don't know why you're receiving negative thumbs :o

i really agree with your reaction

  • Yeah, like most people on here, I think Joseph Arthurs version isa lot better. It's not horrific, just not as good as the original.

  • personally, I like joseph arthurs version better, but both versions are so different, that it's really a matter of preferences. but one thing I really don't like about this evrsion: it's the wrong voice for the notes. not everyone can sing everything and i think it doesn't fit to well

  • I agree with the majority, Joseph Arthur's has more emotion.

  • where did you find the song? I couldn't find it anywhere....

  • I don´t know. I think i´ve got it of my friend. Download the programm DVDvideoSoft. You have to paste the llink of this video then it will download it.

  • haha i use that 2

  • @californiagal123

it featured in scrubs. the episode when Dr Cox's son Jack was christened and Cox's religious sister was in town for the event.i think it was season 5.... that's where we first heard this song.

  • @vegeta705

I just wondered where I heard this song before, sounded so familiar :) Thx for the explanation.

Scrubs always features the best music :)

  • @californiagal123 i tunes has it by joeseph arthur or do you mean by howie day?

  • @californiagal123 in "bourne identity" in a deleted scene xD

did find it right before and have this film for years^^

  • this version isnt anywhere near Joseph Arthurs version! Neither the voice nor the rhytm is as good as Joseph's.. but good try though, and i certainly couldn't do it better :P

  • i hope u dont mean howy day is the original artist of this song

  • This song sounds like more work was put, not as much emotion. my opinion of course. I prefer Joseph Arthurs version. no doubt.

  • This songs sounds more refined, but Joseph's seems to have a more raw, pure emotion sound to it. Both are very talented, no doubt about it!

  • i like howie very much, but he has a slightly childish voice for this song. (thats my opinion though)

  • I prefer joseph arthur doing this (he does sing it with so much emotion) ... but howie buts his nice twist onto it..

  • It's such a beautiful song. I've never heard anyone but Joseph Arthur do it! Is it Joseph Arthur's song? Who sang it originally?

  • Yeah, Joseph Arthur originally sang it and imo sang it better.

  • The version with michael stipes of R.E.M. and chris martin of coldplay do a very good version. They have a live version that was preformed on Austin City Limits when coldplay was on and then they did a studio version for Grey's Anatomy. Both very very good

  • link that, please?

  • not as good as Joesph Arthur, but it's alright

  • ANGELA

  • I really dig Howie but he's ok with song. Joseph sings it with so much passion. Its a beautiful song. But I love Howie still.

  • I like this version a lot better. But Joseph Arthur's is still awesome. :)

    Thanks.

  • Is that kurt cobain?in the pic?

  • Yes. :-)

  • cool!!!!woo0o0 h0oo00o!!

  • @warren4852 yep

  • joseph version is better i think (:

  • @friberg671

no the best version is one with Chris Martin from Coldplay

and Michael Stipe from R.E.M but i can't find that one anywhere and it's bugging me!

  • good cover guys! if you get chance check out my version

  • i love both versions ;)

    <3

  • way better when joseph arthurs sings it. hands down

  • love it (: does anyone know where i could download it? it's not on iTunes or anything...

  • BETTA BY JOSEPH ARTHUR

  • howie day version is the best

  • Joseph Arthurs is the best version .. Though this is good to.. Just not that ,, emotional as the original.

  • MAN! i wish the lyrics were a ltitle bit different. I LOVW THIS SONG! but Im an athiest, haha

  • You're not really. You just think you are.

  • that doesn;t even make sence. This is what i hate about religious people! I could say the same thing to you... "You don't believe in god, you just think you do" But I'm not going to because we atheists like to leave people to their own devices. Dont be such an ass and stop forcing things on people and thinking you know their feelings more than them, even the so-called-jesus didn;t do that.

  • Well I'm not religious but I would say that in the lyrics he is in not way trying to impose or preach his beliefs but to convey his feelings of goodwill in the most honest way to whoever the song is referring too. I know religious people can be a bit touchy and they are rightly ridiculed but the non-believers shouldn't obsess over any mention of god and look at the context. This song is emotion, not religion. I think this is the most brilliant song I've ever had the honor to hear!

  • i agree, that just got me.

  • @embeme you're awesome

  • Well seemingly he's not.

  • My favorite song in the entire world, wouldnt trade anything for it

  • i love this song so much

it is lovely and so meaniful

    x

  • i like it :)

n them photographs are gorgeous :)

    xx

  • Good, but i prefer Arthur's version. A very strong song during Jack's baptism in Scrubs.

  • i fucking love this song!!

  • anyone who doesn´t? ;)

  • joseph arthur plays it better

  • i completely agree. do you know who origonaly made this song?

  • It is originally Joseph Arthur's but has been covered LOTS.

  • yeah, there have been many covers. but there's just no way in my opinion that any of them could be better than Joseph's. he got it right the first time.

  • this song is so pretty;

  • I first heard this song on 'Scrubs', and I literally stopped what I was doing and turned towards the TV. (I was on the computer) I opened a wordpad window so I could write down the lyrics I heard and look up the song later (I had no internet at the time)

the song makes me cry. bravo Howie, but Joseph owns this song.

  • i agree with TheBritsRComin21, covers are never as good as the original, but Howie day didnt cover this, more he made it his own. Awesome song, both Howie day and Joseph Arthur are great

  • You are so right ;)

  • No, it's simple. Just him and his guitar...and i love the lyrics. His voice isn't amazing, but it's good for the song. I love it, really truly love it.

Great, thanks for posting, also great pictures, not too many and their nice :)

  • lol ya its some great lyrics.... too bad Howie day didnt write or make this song, he just covered it off of Joseph Arthur, whose voice is better for the song, im not insulting Howie Day im just saying Joseph Arthur does a better job b/c it is his own song

  • covers are never better than the original, we all know that :)

and i didn't know that i'll go look it up by joseph arthur

  • to be fair i MUCH prefer Vanilla Skys version of umbrella ;)

  • gets kind of annoying how much the volume changes. but great song none the less.
