great point about the 8 glasses of water, and how the medical community tends to use a 'one size fits all' when dosing medication too which is very unscientific.
@UniversalMinded believe whatever you want. yeah there may be natural cures. but he said raw food can cure cancer and aids. did you also know that you can fly if you have enough faith? its true. jump off a parking garage and see
I take it now for one week.. but together with black walnut and wormwood.. and probiotics from orthiflor.. I had some blood on my paper .. went to hospital but didn;t say much.. any idea if this is possible from the oil of oregano>?
Great info as usual however if you are going to state that drinking 8oz of water/day is crazy for people that vary in different weights well be certain to state the correct way to determine the amount of water intake. The appropriate measuring tool would be to take your weight divide by 2 then that will give you the amount of water needed/day for your weight (130lbs/2 = 65oz of water/day). Keep up the good job!
I lost 49 pounds and will continue to eat raw (80%), I enjoy treats at social events. Also, eating my childhood faves from time to time, like pizza or a steak. Now those things are a treat! I look forward to them in moderation.Like liferegenerator says,I might eat like this forever or I might not.I have high blood pressure,I have cut my meds by 3/4! 5 pounds more and I might be off them for good! That's my goal, I believe that raw is helping to save my life in the long run. Thanks Kevy!
yeah my brother told me, we dont always necessarily need 2 liters of water a day depending on how much water we get from our food! & we dont need supplements if we can get mutrients from our food, the only reason we make supplements is because we do not get enough nutrients from our stantard american diet (S.A.D). & we need eat alkalising foods (ph balancing foods) 80% alkaine-20% acidic, meat & dairy are acidc foods!!
I will say that raw food can improve IQ or prevent many illnesses that are caused by refined sugars, grains, altered oils, preservatives, etc. in processed foods. It's more eliminating bad foods than it is that good foods make you smart though. We are human and we are limited. Raw food is not going to make us superhuman or gods. It's simply a better choice and more likely to lead to a higher level of life overall.
The problem I have is thinking raw food makes someone invincible to disease, bacteria, viruses, etc. It's simply not true. If this were true, animals such as rabbits would never get diseased and they are highly diseased, have worms, etc. We do not live in the Garden of Eden and the whole religious vegan/raw food movement is a bit cultish and tends to throw out realism sometimes. Also raw food doesn't make someone more spiritual or intelligent - well to some extent it can (see next post).
Until someone lives beyond 120 on 100% food, I call *cough cough* bullsheet! There are people living over 100 that smoke, drink coffee and eat doughnuts. I do agree that we reduce the chance of disease and keep the body healthier and younger looking by eating more raw foods, especially greens or alkalizing foods (food are alkaline due to high mineral content) - keep the body mineralized and vitamins from fruit. Also agree we can heal the body with diet. Processed foods are toxic in general.
regarding water with meals: rather than enzymes, i'd be more concerned with the dilution of the stomach acid in the stomach. if the stomach is not acidic, proteins and fats cannot be properly digested, parasites and bad bacteria (and fungus) are more likely to survive their passage in or through the stomach, and food will be seen in the stool.
i had a very healthy whole food diet before i started eating 'raw'. i already was sprouting, having salads, fruits, smoothies before hearing about the raw diet. i think i regret going 100% raw. probably developed deficiencies. also wasnt good for me emotionally. dont like being food obsessed. became too sensitive. raw food is just a way of being healthy to facilitate other things in my life, such as creativity, study, living in the everyday world, etc.
I went 100% raw vegan for about six months, but I started to have problems, so I went back to eating whole cooked foods, and now I eat a combination of raw vegan meals, raw meat meals, and cooked whole food meals, and It's working out very well for me. Based on my experience with the raw vegan diet, I'd say it's great for the short-term, to clean out the system, but it's incomplete.
Awesome topic. I think high raw foods are no doubt the answer, it not only helped heal my liver much faster but gave me much more energy and stamina than I ever thought possible. Once I understood that I could get all the protein I needed to support my bodybuilding there was no more debate and I decided to live a high raw food lifestyle. Its been over one and a half years since and I am still gain muscle and strength.
A Raw foods diet is not sustainable for most people. in the long run, it produces nutrient and caloric deficiencies, mental, and digestive problems. It is true, however, that a raw diet has reversed or cured people w/severe heart disease and diabetes. a raw diet may be best in people w/specific diseases. that does not mean a raw diet is best for a healthy person. The best diet for most people is a whole foods diet w/emphasis on 50-75% raw, organic meats, fish, raw diary, and fermented foods.
@JackNeedles without proper supplementation, raw vegan diet can cause calcium, vitamin D, vitamin B12, iron, zinc, protein and/or caloric deficiency leading to underweight and undernourishment.
@youlance29 we are supposed to get B12 from exposure to bacteria in soil and the traces of feces that coat the natural environment. "Vegetarian" monkeys regularly munch up insects and stuff that live and poop in the fruit and seed pods. So all we need is to ingest a few bugs and some poop and all the bases are covered. All other things you mentioned are myths, imo.
First of all, I eat mostly a raw foods diet, but I am not a 'raw vegan.' Please don't assume that all 'raw foodists' are vegans. I do consume raw fish, eggs, and some raw grass fed meat/organs. I get all of the nutrients I need from a raw plant based diet with some raw grass fed organ meats, eggs and fish. I also eat quite a bit of fermented food and tonic herbs. You can't say there is one nutrient that I am missing.
@JackNeedles A raw food diet does not mean vegan although +90% of the time it does. a raw food diet can also compose of raw diary, seafoods and meats. the nutrient deficiencies i listed are for raw vegans. ps: did anyone say you're nutrient deficient? i don't think anyone cares.
You said a raw food diet, not raw vegan diet. That was an error on your part, no matter how many times people mislabel the diet. Perhaps you need to be more specific. BTW, I never said anyone said I was nutrient deficient, but that was my response as you said raw food diets create deficiencies and I am on one and am not deficient.
@JackNeedles yes, i did say raw food diet. everyone here knows that a raw food diet means raw vegan. look at everyone that has posted here with the words "raw food diet" and you will see everyone means raw vegan. whether i say a raw diet or raw vegan diet produces deficiencies is understood by everyone here except for you. it's no error on my part but your pettiness to argue. renegade is a vegan show, so a raw diet will always mean raw vegan unless you want to argue with every poster here? lol
Wrong again. I originally responded to your very first comment. It's at the top of the page here where anyone can see it. You clearly did not say "raw vegan diet" in that post. I do not care what anyone says it means. The fact is, "raw foods diet" is not the same as "raw vegan diet". A raw food diet can include raw animal food, whereas a raw vegan diet does not. Those are the straight up facts. No, some raw animal foodists post here. I am one of them.
Last night, my family and I roasted some veggies and meats over an open fire with a homemade sauce of olive oil, lemon, pepper, and salt. It was absolutely delicious especially on a chilly night.
@JackNeedles yes, i did say a "raw vegan diet" when i listed the nutrient deficiencies in response to you. look it up, it's my 2nd comment here. i'm not sure how you can fault me for being so exact? i'm glad i put that in there cuz i knew somehow i was talking to a novice.
@youlance29 the raw foodists are confusing correlation with causation in the case of "raw food healing." They are saying people gained back health because they ate "raw" when in probably, the reason why people are cured is because they removed poisons/toxins from their body from refined carbohydrates and processed toxic fast food. [cont]
@youlance29 [cont] so since I cured my allergies/asthma/.acne from removing all carbs/grains which were probably causing inflammation... but I don't go around claiming "shopping at Whole Foods and not at Ralphs cured me!"
I believe that the eight glasses of water guideline was put out to make sure people get their daily dose of fluoride...and don't forget to brush your teeth three times a day with an ADA approved fluoride toothpaste. ;-)
@Bullfn33 I know you mean well but please find the time to further research the rat poison that is fluoride. It[s use is not anything you should be advising.
I think the traditional diets that Weston A. Price discovered from his research during the early 20th century are the best long term diets. These were whole food diets based mostly on grass-fed animal foods with very high levels of fat soluble vitamins and healthy fats for healthy teeth and wide enough dental arches, fermented foods for great digestion and void of any processed foods or rancid fats. These people were extremely hard working, virtually disease free and happy(no need for police).
@Bullfn33 yeah I agree. I like kevin and listening to him because he gives a lot of info and is knowlegable... but other raw foodists are like crazy cultists. The traditional diet where most foods were NOT cooked but some were, like animal meat, is the best. Look at the history: humans have survived for hundreds and thousands of years on this type of diet. Raw food is a fad diet with no proven historical sustainability.
From personal experience, the best, most sustainable diet is roughly 75% raw. A diverse diet of raw foods - greens, nuts, fruits, etc is an important core. But breaking down the cell walls of plants/grains through light cooking makes some nutrients more easily digested. Also, as an omnivore, I see nothing wrong with supplementing the diet with a bit of humanely produced meat - say, slow-roasted chicken or filet mignon à la French style. :) And water is definitely a KEY part of a balanced diet.
my biggest problem was realizing processed sugars make me binge eat sad food and figuring out how to cut them out. I'm still not 100% raw but i'm the closest i've ever been and it's mostly the fact I don't like feeling caged that i'm not 100%
I think for cleasing yes, but sustainable for a lifetime of health...not my experience. Whole foods, grass-fed meats, raw dairy and plentyyyyyyyy of veges work for me......my ecperience.
