  • It is ironic, to me this is Lully's most beautiful work and it is for the harlequin!

  • Harlequino!

  • lost for words...

  • Wonderful musicians!!!

  • un'arlechino stupendo! bravissimo. galantissimo e allegro simultaneo!!

  • This chaconne also was set by Robert de Visee for theorbo.

  • I wonder how many modern dance moves have their origins in these old dances.

  • For my 18th Birthday, my grandfather invited me and my family to Italy. He said he'd give me a surprise for my 18th birthday. I thought he'd give me a lamborghini or something cool. However, it turned out that he hired six silly Harlequins and his musical crew to his mansion to perform a show for me. After the show he asked me how did I like it, I said: " Thanks, grandpa, it was really a surprise to me. I didn't expect it at all. I think I will never forget how did I celebrate my 18 b-day."

  • good !!

  • SCARAMOUCH...SCARAMOUCH

  • Very cute boy dancing. I have seen many times. What is Dance Company is this?

  • Yes. All art creations are not from Chicago ;-)

  • They're NOT???

  • Jean Baptiste Lully was the court appointed composer at the court of King Louis XIV and the dance's shown in the video can be probably dated from that era!

  • Something about that Harlequin reminds me of Dick van Dyke as Raggedy Andy in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

  • 很好看哟!

  • His dancing is SUPPOSED to be silly. The character is Harlequin, a comic, silly character.

  • His dancing is just plain silly, the move with the hat says 'Chicago' not versailles

  • Tienes razon.

  • Is that supposed to be a jester dancing?

    Very nice music.

  • SUBLIME!

  • Sehr schön!

  • This is a beautiful video! Nice to see the dance of the Arlequin. I think the woman is also a character of the Comedia dell' arte. I think she is Colombina, but I'm not sure.

  • Yes DrHanLecter, you're right: she's Colombina, a Commedia dell'Arte character!!

  • Wow! You'll unfortunately never see this on "Dancing with the Stars"...

  • すごいです。

  • Ich gebe fünf Sterne! Großartig!

  • No mamen, eso esta chingosisimo !, lastima k aki en el 3er mundo no existe eso

  • Incredible! Love harlequins and baroque!! Cool!

  • beautiful

  • tres charmante...

  • Very nice video. Lully is one of the most underrated of composers.

  • i love this piece, i love ittttt!!!!!

  • very nice !

  • Very nice! Thanks for sharing.

  • Delicious! I have a doubt : are all the man's dance steps really academic ? :)

  • Je pense que la fantaisie de ses pas sied au personnage de la commedia dell'arte qu'il incarne : ils sont donc tout relativement académiques.

  • The chaconne des scaramouches trivelins et arlequins is played as a prologue in the piece of lully& moliere Le bourgeois gentilomme, l'm not sure if ths steps are academic or not but it doesn't matter since Arlequin is a character of the comedia dell' arte and he plays the fool while dancing

  • I believe mostly, only because I have seen the same steps done by a different group.

  • A lovely performance. Thanks for posting this video.
