Crazy legs "Richard Colon" Did the break dance and they hired an actual gymnist for the flying in the air part and the front walkover. They producers said they didnt give any ending credits to Marina because thry said they ran out of room lol!!!

it's like cheating the real performers...the dance routines were somewhat the focus of the storyline in this movie.IMO, casting was not good...they could have actually casted someone who can dance, not necessarily a PRO but with natural talent that can be translated to awesome Flashdance routines. Actually Jennifer Beal didn't dance at all. That is Cynthia Rhodes. Jennifer didn't do any of the dancing in this movie. Cynthia did it all. As for this last dance. To my knowledge Cynthia did all of the dance. Their was no double, no gymnast or maile breakdancer. I could be wrong, but I don't think so. The fact that Cynthia didn't get credits for the dancing in this movie still annoys me.

@amjchahn91 It's possible that they both did. I had always heard it to be Cynthia, so that is what I believed. Back then they didn't get the credit for it so it isn't listed anywhere in the credits. I would say Cynthia did most of it for sure. But I don't really know either. Just know what I have heard and read lead me to believe it was so. And of course their the interview where Richard says she did the dancing.

@theart1rm Very true but also I remember when this movie first came to the theatres and it was reviewed by Siskel and Ebert. Cynthia Rhodes actually did some of the dancing, there were several different talented dancers in the last dance. If I remember correctly the break dancing part was actually done by a male dancers. The camera is smart and if you look closely you can actually tell the parts that was done by men and women. You are correct tho that Jennifer did none of the dancing.

If you read some of the other comments they identify the dancers. I've never heard of any of them. But the Chair dance with the water - that was Cynthia. She may not have been part of the last dance, but she did all the other dancing.

Dance is unique in that the human body becomes the instrument of the art, not the piano, the French horn or the cello, they are background. I don't care who did the actual dancing in this scene, it is beautifully presented which is what movies are about. I saw Flashdance on the first go round and still enjoy, after all these years, the audition scene.
