when i was on this lvl on hard mode i had to run away from Griffon becuz he killed me all the time >_> and thats why i have only 1 yellow orb ;D and now that stupid ball of light goes inside the shadows and they kill me............................­.... FUUUUUUUUUUUUUU----

On this boss, I find it is easiest to activate Devil Trigger with Ifrit and use Ebony and Ivory.

@FF7ACJW I tried that but I got pretty crappy damage with griffon. I pretty much followed Joch's DT, shoot undo DT before hit and Voila! you get a bunch of DT Runes! I did it with Ifrit since I didn't need the air-hike (wasn't going for 100% or anything). Meteor helps too!

@FF7ACJW Oh me neither, I just was stuck on him forever on my hard run through cause I am impatient. Then I finally got the bright idea of using meteor since it was a projectile attack. Make sure to fully charge the meteor and it is REALLY strong. Actually you can use Meteor on Nelo 1 too when he jumps to the 1st platform, shoot a full powered meteor and he will take a LOT of damage.

@22owow I tried. You can run it on an emulator called PCSX2, it works. But you'll need a REALLY powerful PC for that. I have a core quad and 4gbs of ram and DMC still goes damn laggy when there are >5 enemies on screen. Maybe some speedups are possible if you can configure the emulator better than I did, but it won't be the same as playing on the console anyway.

Ironically, DMC2 runs better when emulated, but sucks as a game overall...

Doing a DMD S SB run isn't a great thing, but doing it into a New Game, 100% is something to be really proud of. Don't forget, it shows a lot of skill. Congratulations.

Actually, if you can press the fire button fast enough, you can kill griffon faster than the grenade launcher. I did it both on normal and hard mode. Though you REALLY have to spam the shoot button.

I loved this game, but i had sooo many hard times trying to get through it.

the most obvious reason is that a "normal" frost in DMC1 was as tough for me as a DMD frost in DMC4.

maybe i just got better between both though.

@shyameanxia in DMC 2 they tried to make dante free and use the same combos and strikes as dante uses it in all the scenes of devil may cry but they found that it sucked so they made it with styles in DMC 3 and they found it sucked that the player can't switch styles :D so they made a switch style in DMC4 but they found something sucks that which fanboys cry like babies :D

Are you doing a fresh or max game? If max, an Inferno will get rid of those pesky Plasmas :p ... If fresh, it's tougher. I used mostly DTed Stingers and DTed shotgun shots. If you don't mind taking damage, just DT and wail away at the human Plasmas with melee attacks - they should die quite quickly. Use DTed E&I or shotgun shots on the bat.

Death Scissors: DTed downward slashes on its head.

actually i recommend E&I instead of grenade gun, because E&I can make devil trigger recovery very simple, when facing griffon 1,2 and 3

Yes, you can make it through without Air Hike - AH makes it a bit easier in some aspects, but it's not essential.

You get the grenade gun in Mission 8 - can't miss it, examine the skeleton next to the trapdoor. And if you do miss it, you can get it near the end of M9 in the divinity statue room.

I used to think it was a lot better, but I have a lot more respect for DMC3 now than I ever used to :-/

But DMC1 is still a great game to this day. And it does some things better than DMC3, imo, such as enemy design and atmosphere. It's slower by comparison to DMC3, though. In fact, the two are just basically different games. They've got Dante and a storyline in common and that literally is about it, asides from trivial things like divinity statues, etc. etc.

Just to add... Rotate the analogue stick during the slash that you want to cancel. If it's done correctly, the animation of Dante putting away his sword will be cancelled and you'll be able to slash again immediately :p

Would a written guide to Mundus help? I can send you one if you like :-/ ... Slash-cancelling won't help you much in this fight, though :p ... Basically, to cancel the lag of a slash, you rotate the analogue stick in a full circle - you can cancel the lag of the 1st, 2nd or (from the 4-Hit combo) 4th slash. It's best to practice in an empty room first... >_>

@StuntXL - Er, no, the Yamato is the *same* as Alastor in strength :-/ ... Me and other folks have done tests with Fetishes (who never have varying health, unlike Maris). It takes the same amount of slashes with both swords.

I'm using Alastor anyway, so... :p

As for Air Raid, it's no faster and it's much more risky, in that Griffy can catch you out with an unavoidable lightning attack in mid-air. There's nothing to recommend using Air Raid against DMD Griffy, really :-/

That was absolutely amazing. Watching u play has made me wanna get DMC back (coz I sold it back in 2002). I have to commend u 4 dat amazing skill. You despatched Griffin like he was nothing. I tried Dante Must Die mode and I struggled to get passed first stage yet you mastered it like dat. Hats off to ya son

SpawnyGuy - Re the Yamato. It's similar, but not identical to Alastor. It's shorter in reach in non-DT mode, but much longer in reach in DT mode (it turns into the Sparda sword). You get the longer DTed reach, but it drains DT faster during sword combos. Anyway, yeah, you get all of the Alastor abilities with it. It's also equal in strength to Alastor. (Incidentally, I'm using Alastor for this run, btw :p)
