Why teaching him to play with hard balls on a big court when you have soft balls tought for little kids like that 'til they're 8 and can play with intermediate balls ? It's just .. inappropriate ! His body will suffer in the next few years, and I don't even talk about the raquet. Until he is a teenager, tennis has to stay a pleasure, with tournaments if HE wants, but with more fun that just becoming the best and challenging other guys who won't be able to reach 15 yo without any injury ..

good footwork and all but make the forehand more simple, with a back swing like that, when he develops into a player he could be late on many balls and it will be hard to break that habit. when they are that young, keep it simple

very good technique and balance for a boy his age. superb footwork and followthrough, the only major fault I see is his serve. he needs to come in contact point with the ball higher when his elbow is not bent.

Personly I think Jan Silva Is better, but that's not to say this boy is useless, he is a very good player, though on his serve he leans to far to the left so he stumbles off. Andrew has a nice forehand, it clears the net better than I've seen some professionals. He has a lot of potential, so stick in, and maybe you'll be the next nadal, or federer, or whoever.

I like this video. One more parent dreams about his kid being a new star. Somehow such parents mistankenly assume that if a child can hit a few balls over the net, he or she is exceptionally good. The truth comes later, when a kid is around 12-13. At this age, you can start to see real potential stars. Usually, those kids are top-ranked either sectionally or nationally and play real powerful tennis. This kid, like anyone else, might be there if dreams replaced with really hard work.

Both players Jan and Andrew look very good. Unfortunately all the videos of Jan Silva are edited for increased frame rate. Increased frame rate creates a mistaken appearance that Jan Silva is fast on strokes and footwork. Need to modify the video of Andrew the same way it was done for Jan to make it more intimidating.

This kid should stop getting lessons from whatever coach he has now. We can all tell that he loves tennis, so he should find a coach who can give him the basics to use even when he's 30 years old. He is not strong/old enough to use that adult racquet. That's why his grips are off. Very off. His coach is letting him get away with his forehand grips when he should be using continental on his serve and volleys, and only for short-term success. In a few years, his technique will be obsolete.

Jan Silva use a heavier raqcuet. And he is training in one of the bests academies in the world. This is an old tennis myth. Heavier racquets are better. At the 70's, childrens and womans played with 380 gr racquets. There's no risk of injuries because of this.
