If you are right, can you explain where the delta is? How did the river flow uphill to carve out the canyon? How come when Mount Helen's erupted it formed a structure comparable to the Grand Canyon in all but size (it's twenty times smaller, but still big) in a matter of hours? If it can happen once in history, why do you assume it never happened before? And I ask again... how could the river flow uphill?

noelplum99 - you might want to get on the internet & google the world wide flood as there are many different countries whose histories point to a flood in their area that killed all the people. Science doesn't really have naything to do with it. if you can't prove that God doesn't exist by using science or evolution, then you can't ask to prove Him with science or evolution. But history HAS proven it. I'll take history over science.

I'm not asking to prove God, we are talking about the historical and scientific accuracy of a worldwide flood - not a local flood, but a worldwide one that covered all the land. now ofc many cultures have a flood myth, as they have a sea monster myth and a winged beast myth and a god myth (none of which you accept other than your own ofc).

Secondly, given that the judaic story is taken from the babylonian story is it any wonder it concords.

....check out the terrible historical consequences of incorporating the babylonian story of noah into the torah. Incorporate someone elses myth and someone elses deity into your own and the cracks will show. noelplum99 - I am talking about proof of a world wide flood.If there are so many cultures who speak of a flood that correspond exactly with the Genesis acc't. They even have close to the same spelling of the name. In Job 40 & 41 - it speaks of creatures who have scales so strong that a spear is as a dart & a one whose tail is like a cedar tree. The dead Sea scrolls back up these historic moments. They didn't have videos to capture it & it was very important to pass on correct & true info.

I don't understand. Why wouldn't the dead sea scrolls back up what is in the tanakh? The scrolls date from no earlier than about 200BC long long after the story of the flood formed part of the torah.

The big problem for you is that their are historical relics that pre-date the flood that would have been wiped out by it. We have cave paintings tens of thousands of years old; egyptian mummys' up to 6000 years old; dendochronological records in germany and US extending, unbroken, over 8000 years.

Of the evidence I have read, there seems to be much support for a localised flood, possibly around the Euphrates.

however, you are asking me to throw away science almost entirely. If the flood story is true then science simply does not work and we should just abandon the scientific method. geology is useless; biology is broken; physics is useless; archaeology is unfounded; dendochronology is erroneous; engineering is baseless... i could go on and on. Your flood story breaks every single....

I don't believe in their gods because most of their gods are stone gods that can't do anything for me. Their stone gods didn't create the earth or the universe & most of their beliefs had them sacrificing their children to fire to appease their god so tha they can have reain & sun & moon everyday. my God doesn't require that of me.
