Food stamps probably pays about $400-500 a month and get another $3000-4000+ back in taxes that I dont pay into and that levels out my federal and state income tax but all the benefits i get make my tax burden way less that 0 dollars. I don't want to be covered for hair transplants, maternity care, sex change operations, acupuncture (all of which in some states are mandated). With my car, I can pay extra a month if I want to be reimbursed for a rental should I need one. Since I have two vehicles available, why should I have to get the rental coverage?
The whole requiring health insurance thing is stupid, I think however as the government like other foreign governments we should already be provided with healthcare. The government should pay for any necessary medical expenses, anything not necessary such as cosmetic surgery or whatever would be paid for by the consumer. XD
The problem is that if health care is not required, then the system breaks down. The reason car insurance works so well is because you are required to have it if you drive. However, if people don't have health insurance, the hospitals can't allow them to "not drive" by not admitting them-they let them in either way. Then many people with insurance over time pay that persons cost.
Also, if it wasn't required but you couldn't discriminate based on preex. conditions, then some people could try to only buy insurance when they get sick, and then the price would literally skyrocket.
No, most insurance policies require a type of contract that covers you for x number of months and if you switch or drop the policy before the contract expires then they penalize you heavily for it, that alone would keep people from doing that, otherwise they'd do it right now.
That is what Obama is trying to do with the marketplace thing he is talking about, so you or anyone else can go to this marketplace and choose the coverage they want from whomever they want

If you think you don't pay taxes you're not paying attention, sales, use, toll, property, Motor Vehicle, utility, Social security and Medicare, gas, fuel, gift, death and cigarette taxes and those are just some of the ways Americans rich and especially poor are taxed. There is a reason Republicans are very careful when they say 50% of Americans pay NO income tax because they know Americans pay more then income taxes but they don't want you to think about it for yourself.

Well actually youre wrong; I get money for being poor. Food stamps probably pays about $400-500 a month and get another $3000-4000+ back in taxes that I dont pay into and that levels out my federal and state income tax but all the benefits i get make my tax burden way less that 0 dollars. I dont pay a lot of the tax you listed. Dont tell me I am not paying attention I know very well the problems I face every day.

I moved back to michigan from texas when my dads health started failing him. People complain about looking for a job for months and not finding anything. I got a job in 27 days. That's a long time to have to look, but I got hired. I don't give up, and I'm not too proud to clean toilets to make ends meet. If your pride keeps you from taking a job because it's "beneath your dignity", or it "just doesn't pay as much as your last job", then give up.

He was a law school lecturer, a community organizer, a senator who spent most of his senatorial days campaigning. Mccain was too old for the position even though he was experienced, I wouldn't give him much merit. We didn't need another Bush in office if you want to get down to the core matter. He believed in a lot of the things Bush did. About the Health Care most privately own health care companies deny coverage for those with preexisting conditions or other problems, which doesn't seem fair. Don't like it? Change companies. Well you may be construed to one company because you can't afford anything else.

@Say Health ins should be sold the same as auto and people could decide what they wanted to be covered for. I don't want to be covered for hair transplants, maternity care, sex change operations, acupuncture (all of which in some states are mandated). With my car, I can pay extra a month if I want to be reimbursed for a rental should I need one. Since I have two vehicles available, why should I have to get the rental coverage?

The problem is that if health care is not required, then the system breaks down. The reason car insurance works so well is because you are required to have it if you drive. However, if people don't have health insurance, the hospitals can't allow them to "not drive" by not admitting them-they let them in either way. Then many people with insurance over time pay that persons cost.

No, most insurance policies require a type of contract that covers you for x number of months and if you switch or drop the policy before the contract expires then they penalize you heavily for it, that alone would keep people from doing that, otherwise they'd do it right now.

More bogus GOP talking points. The CRA forced banks to OFFER loans in the same areas they took deposits, but only to qualified borrowers with good credit ratings (see Sections 802 and 804 of the CRA).
The CRA was passed in 1977, but the housing bubble, the sub-prime mortgage crisis, and the Mortgage fraud bubble were all confined to 2004-2006.
Only 15% of the sub-prime mortgages were given by banks falling under CRA regulation. The other 85% by mortgage companies not under CRA regulation

It was that revision that started lenders, specifically Nationwide, to gretaly expand their loans to under and unqualified borrowers. while it was not the only cause, it put in place the mechanism for the creation of the sub-prime lending and related derivitives issue. Healthcare for the nth time will not be given to the government.
