As an occasional reader of the Club Nintendo Newsletter, I know exactly why it's like that. It's a suspension to prevent the MotionPlus from breaking either itself or the wiimote due to the extreme stress that will be placed on that area during certain movements.

Nah... it's like that because of the way it sits in the "sleeve" thing... It just makes it a lot easier to get it in.. it works well and is still sturdy... I was like "Wtf" at first..

It's not broken. This mechanism is for the device not breaking itself and it is like that in every MP.

If it works, it's not broken - Miyamoto said they made it a bit loose so there's not as much strain on the connection so it doesnt break
