A Conn or Peterson is for studios and pros. It will show ALL overtones in a single string that can cause problems in a master mix. If you don't understand it's reason pros use it, you don't need one. It can also be used to srtetch tune a piano in "cents" and Sitars that have more than 70 notes as opposed to western instruments that have only 12. A pure masterpiece for engineers and techs. Blows away ANY regular tuner but is NOT needed for most applications for just basic "tuning" . High end Pro.
This tuner is STILL state of the art. An engineer can tell what overtones will ruin a mix via the output views provided. You can tell how old or off pitch a single string on a piano/guitar/sitar/steel guitar...You can STRETCH tune a piano via "cents" settings. A true masterpiece of engineering. A studio MUST HAVE even today. I've had mine since the mid '70's. Displays CLEARLY any overtones within a single string. Beautiful just beautiful. I bought mine used in '75 for $150. LOVE IT
The nice thing about the ST-11 is how well the mic hears through all the other musical noise being played in the room during a jam. I have been using mine everyday since the 70's in my work. It's simply amazing and truly well-built.
