@halo2redvsblue Was it used or not? Because i've heard and seen that even if a copy is USED, it can still cost $70.00. I got my copy for $38.00 with the manual and artwork, but it was pretty much in mint condition.
i love this game! after years of not playing it i borrow a friends gamecube an found the game again for like 5 bucks at bookmans. that week i had no social life :) all the music is great.
This game had a certain feel to it that NO other game has ever had. Total immersion. It wasn't a few corridors and maybe an open room, it was a planet. It was inhabited, it had colour, it had life. The music fit the overall tone of the areas, being ominous without being dark and depressing. Did Gears of War have this same quality? Heck no. Halo? Please. The Prime series is, well... prime.
@WaterCrystalline You could argue they are Japanese given Nintendo certainly supervised, but they are definitely Retro Studios' games. And thusly it was an American developer, but a Japanese publisher.
@cthomas025 My point still stands. The franchise was created by Nintendo, wich is Japanese. And all of it's titles have had supervision or involvement of Japanese game designers. Retro studios recieved the guidelines. That's it. They had a source from where to draw inspiration, if not completely copy the already established Metroid Games. Not saying they suck as a developer. All i'm saying is that no Western developer will ever have the same skill as a Japanese one. And that shows.
@WaterCrystalline Are you trolling???? Half these failing Japanese Developers (Capcom etc) are practically going under due to lack of new talent and desperately looking to suckle the IMMENSE tit that is the current talent of Western studios.... right now Western devs >> Japanese period.
@xSayPleasex Capcom is a bad example, Nintendo still make by far better games than any Western developer could ever even imagine to create. In my personal opinion anyway. Metroid is probably the best game from a Western developer, and it's the only first person shooter I've extremely enjoyed, which just goes to show how good it is.
@HARVESTERFTW Each game has their own way to immerse people. Halo, gears, and this have totally different ways of immersion. Halo relied a bit on the area around you, and the battles. Gear relied on graphics and action to immerse you. This relied on the history, areas, and the music to immerse you. While I'm not really defending Halo or Gear, what i really mean is all game, be them the same genre have different ways to immerse it's audience.
Amazing videogame, with amazing soundtrack, amazing graphics, amazing atmosphere.....everytime i play this game i feel....lonely,it's almost scary, such is the level of immersion this game has
the entire world of tallon is a piece of art un riveled in scale in detail everything had its place and everything had its purpose .... ok i lie can someone please tell me how to get into the room behind that large tree :P
I was wondering which Tallon Overworld theme you'd use for this one, since they're both very memorable. The first one was more relaxing but this one is more atmospheric.
I got the Trilogy for $65 on eBay, which is a bargain when you consider that it usually goes for $75-$80 at the least. Money well spent, IMO.
I love the Metroid Prime soundtrack. What i find to be stupid is when you heard of people giving reviews saying "low-quality midi's". Um, you serious? Regardless, the music is awesome. If you can't appreciate music like this, regardless if you think it's "low-quality" you gotta get your ears examined. Awesome song pick. This one has been my favorite for a long time. :)
Hearing this tune for the first time blew my mind. Metroid prime was a dream come true. I am a huge fan of super metroid and this title made the 8 year wait well worth it. I just wish I had the Original NTSC version in the trilogy, the PAL version ruined the chozo lore for me. Some company unaffiliated with nintendo re-wrote all the lore to sound better but it sucks compared to the original imho.
Please ignore my 2 other comments, I accidently posted them before I was finished. So what I wanted to say is that the whole soundtrack from Metroid Prime is really awesome and I am glad this made it on the list.
Didnt his track change half way through the game? either way, it was still one of the best games ever. it will probably be in my top 10 games for a while to come, man i love gaming.
The planet of Tallon IV will always be the most memorable location in Metroid history, comparing even to the likes of Zebes. Metroid Prime, arguably the greatest Metroid period. Super Metroid being the only comparable game in the series.
Great themes from this game and throughout the series of Metriod. What was the one when you first got to step off Samus' ship on the overworld in this game? I really like that one!
@tomcatm16 I'm not sure of it's official name, but I do know it was a slowed down remix of the original Brinstar music sang by a chorus. It was pretty awesome, if I do say so myself.
I thought this game had the most memorable songs in the trilogy when it comes to overworld themes, with music like this one, Phendrana (both versions), the Chozo Ruins, the Lava caves, etc.
I really regret not buying the MP trilogy on the Wii when it came out, now I can't find it at a normal price.
@SupraDarky How come you did not buy the Trilogy!? It is well worth the slightly boosted price I would have to say. Just how much nostalgia and bonus content they added to the games is intense. Def worth it dude :)
Good music too Supra! The Prime series has always had a very unique feel to it that I love haha
@f1rz3nz3r0 The OSTs of all 3 games, dioramas, in-game content (like alternate suits and such), and the addition of achievements from Prime 3 to the first 2 games. Plus some other stuff I can't remember.
@SupraDarky I love MP1, played through 3/4ths of MP2 but got stuck and kind of forgot about it (not as good as MP1 I must admit). Never played MP3, cause I don't own a Wii (although I'd like too), and if I did own I Wii I probably would of gotten the MP Trilogy, heheh.
But on the point of the music, yeah I have always thought that MP1's music was extremely well done and memorable. I loved the use of electronic sounds along with somewhat organic sounds.
@SupraDarky i bought MP trilogy at best buy about 6 months ago for the normal price. they had lots in stock at my towns best buy, even at a point where all the reviews i watched before i made the purchase said that it was impossible to find anymore. maybe thats cause not many in my town like wii so they had extra. or maybe im just lucky. xD but yea its totally worth whatever price. i love it so much. ive beaten mp1, and am still beating mp2 and 3.
@SupraDarky Dude, I hear ya. I put it off when it first came out since it looked like a cash in on the series. Once it became rarer and a collector's item, I wanted to get my hands on it, but by then it was too late. Luckily, though, I recently found the last one at a local FYE =P
damn, this game deserves more attention. it really is one of the best games ever made. so freaking good.
