During the 80s PBS played the Grand Ole Opry shows, I watched faithfully every Sat. night. My kids and my wife thought I had lost my mind. although I never really cared to listen to the music something tugged at me. It was more than a stage with the greatest C.M. stars. It gave us something to hang onto. It gave us a musical home to belong to. Old country songs of that era taught us something about ourselves. We found that Nashvile was our northern star. We were all country boys at heart.
Vern took the time to talk to me for hours thanks to (Hap Peoples) An the Missouri County fair in the late 80's I could hang my hat on every vernisiam. I will miss you so very much.
Please say hello to my mom and dad and John and June and Lefty frizzell for me thanks for helping me figure it all out you are missed so much i hope I can just be a 1/4 of the ray of light you were. I was blessed to have knowen you.
RIP, Vern. God bless you and receive you into glory. Thanks for all of the great country and gospel music that you provided for your legions of fans over the years.
Hi Vern-I can't believe I'm actually writing to "The VOICE" of country music. You sing me to sleep many nights. Please take that as a compliment, your voice is so smooth.I wish you would have another # 1 record, I can't believe the great singers have just been pushed aside. I don't know if you'll reply but I just wanted to say hello and thanks for all your great songs. All my best-jc6154-Jerry
Absolutely great. Great story and beautiful melody, two elements that country music is known for.
