  • Thanks!

  • Thanks for doing this!

  • @smitty9148 dude wtf are you talking about? Theres tabs? And inlays on his guitar....

  • Is that a Walmart shirt?

  • LOL You look like my brother.

  • What frets are you using to play?

  • @smitty9148 you Capo the third fret if thats what you mean.

  • really good video man... hate to sound negative because it really does sound okay.

BUT, the picking pattern is wrong. you should be hitting the bass note twice for each chord, not once. it will make the song sound so much better if you change it around to the correct way.

check out this vid and you'll see that I mean: /watch?v=dK8_Lqi0GCc& (copy behind youtube . com in your address)

but once again, this is a really good version for someone new to the song, or finger picking in general. kudos!

  • thanks

  • Thanks Dude!

  • thank you dude. this is a great video.

  • You are a talented young guitar played who explained and showed this lesson easy to understand

  • id be nice if somebody on youtube could do a tutorial on the solo for this song!!! :D

    i nominate you!!

  • nice lesson, easy to understand thanks!

  • Fast and easy thanks for the help!

  • Can you "dumb up" the picking patten I am still learn tab.

  • thank you :D (ps. youre cute) :o

  • nice1 thankyou :)

    great lesson

  • You rock! I've been playing in wrong for 30 years :(

  • very nice video dude. Really helped me. Good job.

  • @MrChetwannabe YES! High five

  • @MrChetwannabe Shut the fuck up you ignorant prick and take your caps lock off.

  • @MrChetwannabe, you really are a wanker of the first order.

  • @MrChetwannabe just to let you know, since you appear to be new to this whole "youtube" thing.. clicking on the red line at the bottom of the video allows you to skip ahead or go back through videos :)

  • nice job! thanks for the in vid tabs charts!

  • Can you sing it as well? I'd love to hear a cover.

  • B.J. Novak! Great lesson amigo!

  • Thank you so much! I'm singing this song at my school art show and i needed help haha thanks!

  • Great

  • well done. Keep posting.

  • Thanks mate. Really well explained and easy to follow.

  • 17 people dislike?? Well...17 people are effed up in the head (:

  • PHENOMENAL!

I'll be playing this all night,,,and the rest of my Guitar-Playing Life!!! LOL!!! Thanks to YOU, my Man,,,A job well done, indeed!

  • Great job! You have a patient talent for playing and teaching. Thank You!

  • ... your hands are magic

  • The last note before each transition you aren't playing the note. You are playing open string.

  • r u kidding me!!! dude i cant read tabs!!! dur!! thts y this is called a tutorial!! ur supposed 2 teach us not put a tab up!! gawsh get with the program!! :P

  • @myheartisstone ru kidding me? this tutorial is so clear! I tried transcribing it from the original and got about the same melody! If youre too lazy to learn how to read tabs then dont bother to learn simple songs like this at all!

    ,,,

    jeez!

  • @komani86 well maybe people dont know how to read tabs and have no help with learning guitar! its hard if u dont know tabs and u dont kno me! so stfu! and im not lazy! god! ur an ass for even commenting like that to me! wtf did i do to u? gosh ppl like u just make things harder. thx u have now officially POed me!

  • @myheartisstone seriously, if you'd know me, you'd know that im REALLY patient with people, if they dont understand things. As long as they TRY to figure out SOMETHING by themselves. If you google "how to read tabs" or "how to read chords" you'll find a shitload of good explanations.. I didnt get a teacher and I'm playing open+barres of all shapes in 7 months!

So get "PO'ed" all you want, but its just stupid that you dont try yourself first b4 blaming a tutorial for your lack of intelligence!

  • Thanks for this man--one of the most helpful and easy to follow for learning this song. Good work!! Post some more.

  • the tab I got says D7 for the transfer 323 on 456

  • I see the chord diagrams on the screen. However, where in the video do you say what strings to pluck? Am I missing this somewhere? Thanks.

  • Sorry, I see it. I got confused. Sorry again! Thanks

  • weepingwillow0163@yahoo.com

  • Great video! really helped and i hardly play the guitar, great for all levels

  • Thanks for this video, this sounded the closest and was easy to follow. Rock on! :)

  • The picking pattern is wrong. You're missing the base note. Correct picking pattern just referring to open strings not frets: A G D B A G D (G)

The 8th strum on the G string is usually played, sometimes not you just have to listen.

  • @redrum427 yes, you do everying the same excpt relative to the top of the guitar. it will sound good unless played with an auctuall recording of the song. then it would sound a little off. oh and those things r called a capo ;)

  • awesome, cheers.

  • is there a way 2 play thiswithout 1a those things on the neck?

  • Great lesson. Thanks

  • couldn't be clearer. thank you!

  • great tab, thanks mate

  • How did you show the tablature on your screen? I'm curious to trying that if I were to make guitar lessons.

  • really good lesson!

  • good vid. thanks your cute to xD

  • very helpful good video thanks

  • Thanks, I always wanted to learn that one! Nice tone on the acoustic. That's a Martin 000-28 right?

  • cool video thx for the upoad great track i follow the smashing pumpkins version :D

  • yayy, you made this super easy to learn, thank you!

  • great video man! i acually learned it in like 10 minutes haha! good job! and thanks!

  • thanx so much

  • jasonthe2 is correct. This picking pattern is off. Nice clear video though.

  • nice....thanks...and well done.

  • dude thanks for the video it kicks some serious trash

  • Thanks for a great easy to follow lesson on a classic beautiful tune.

  • Great instruction! It was real easy to understand, from a beginner's stand point. Thanks a lot!

  • haha i learned this in life five minutes cuz this video, thank you very much man. Peace!

  • The picking pattern is a little off. In the real version they have steady quarter notes at the root of the chords. So you need to be playing the base of the chord twice as often.

  • great lesson! thanks a lot

  • i want play my guitar without capo...

    How? please

  • dont use a capo then because all a capo does is make it a higher pitch you can play it and it will just sound lower pitch but the same tune

  • Just play the same shapes but use your index (1st) finger to barre the chords.. E flat maj - Bflat/D - Cmi7 which is the actual pitch.

  • LAME LESSON

  • last notes your showing usually dont apply. in thi=e song they dont play most of the time in verse

  • Hey you didn't show how you do that at 4:11.

Is there a hammer in there?

  • u think u could send me this tab

  • Fantastic lesson. I've enjoyed this song for many years now, and I'm finally able to play it. It took me hours to find my capo, but it was well worth it!

    Many thanks =-]

  • i just started learning this song yesterday so i searched up some tabs to it which sounded ok, then i heard this and it sounded ok... but it still doesnt sound the way it does in the song. like when i listen to the song i hear various changes in the plucking and your way doesnt sound like it. so i was wondering if you know how to play the way i am talking about, cause if you do that would be nice ;D i need to figure it out D:

  • The September issue of Guitar Edge Magazine has the tabs

  • damn capo....i need to buy a new one

  • great job :)

  • you're awesome man! keep posting!

    great one. subscribed :P

  • thanks, im still a noob and cant pick my fingers that fast yet!

  • Excellent! Tabs, good view of fingers on both hands, nicely paced - Now I can play Landslide! Yay! Thanks!

  • capo on 3rd fret though, not 2nd.

  • I thought this was great!

Any chance of you posting the solo for this song?

  • briliant lesson!

  • how do you call that thing whats on your

    2nd fret

  • Capo

  • thx i really need it ;)

  • its called a capo hahahah

  • capo (cay-po)

  • Great tutorial! Thank you.

  • I was thrown off by the sound change at 3:20. I was like, "he's gotta be playing a wrong chord..."...hahaha.

  • Comment removed

  • Don't hate on capos.

  • yeah it was good but you did the picking pattern too fast so i couldn't see what strings you were plucking. but helpful otherwise =)

  • Hey man, great lesson, im picking it up so quickly, nice job

  • great job Scottious

  • your picking is wrong you can't here this distinguish basenote change which holds on through the whole song!but everything else is cool!

  • somone needs to do a lesson for big love by fleetwood mac

  • nice one, Billy Corgan has a completely complicated way of playing it: this is far more acceptable

  • By the way you look a little sad in this video, i bet its the song ! haha, it always gets me too.

  • the diagrams you posted as playing were extremely helpful in showing that you just pick on the 4 strings mostly throughout. great instruction. thanks!

  • this is great... thanks for posting

  • This is pretty good. Hey can you make a lesson on Into Dust by Mazzy Star? if that is possible.

  • Thank you, Scottious!

  • 5 stars!

  • wow good job

  • You rock, very nicely done. With your charts and such :D

  • Good Lesson.

Your fingering could be a LOT moe economical though.

  • Missed the second bass line. That's not how the song goes.

  • Hey fella, really nice tutorial, I will give it a shot. Thanks alot!

  • thanks, that's a good video, helps a lot, and is nice to see and hear it played. more please!

  • You make it look so easy. Thanks!

  • I think it's cool the way you guy's help each other .......I've been pickin' for 45 yrs.and learned most everything I know by watching or listening to someone else...keep up the good work Scotty....thanks

  • kgyu

  • The chord in the chorus is a D7/F# bass (frets from top to bottom string: 2,X,0,2,1,X). This will tune up your lesson and bring the song that much closer to the "real thing". Good Luck

  • cool thanks!

  • Pretty Close...Some tips (since you are teaching this). You are missing the second alternating bass root note in your patterns throughout the song. Also, you are missing the quick changing D/F# to D7/F# on the chords before the chorus. You'll have to change your fingering so you can change easier (only have to change pinky to index finger on second string (D to C note). Also there is a G note on the 1st string plucked and held throughout C, G/B, Am7 patterns throughout much of the song. More...

  • Hey, great teaching style. Could you try 'Helplessly Hoping' by Crosby Stills and Nash?

  • Just came across your video,You did a great job breaking this down, made it so simple. Thanks.

  • We send checks to where????

    Thanks, bro-ski!

    B

  • thats the best lesson i seen so far it helped. but if u slowed it down a bit, tht would be helpful

  • Hey, you teach good and the tabs on the screen are very helpful, but I was wondering if you couldn't maybe slow it down some.. especially on the picking in your videos. You demostrate the chords really well I just have a hard time getting the rythym down.

  • same

  • Hey, man, thanks, that helped me a lot, damn book had the wrong tab

  • Josh,

Thanks for a great Lesson - very clear - and best of all, I can now play Landslide. Youre a very good teacher. Make another soon!

    Bernie in South Carolina

  • hi my friend, great song to choose i do this one in my acoustic set, just one comment if you dont mind. Try D7 with F#bass insead of D with F#bass on the middle section, give it a try let me know ok also would like to hear you play dimming of the day - bonnie raitt

  • Thanks for posting this lesson.
