Florida law only had provisions for a machine recount (which was done and still saw Bush ahead). Of course the Demorats have never let minor trifles like the law stop them and got their liberal buddies to legislate from the bench to get them the hand recount they wanted. The US supreme court ruled that you cannot change the rules after the contest is over. Seems fair to me.

Unlike folks doing a hand recount the voting machines don't have opinions. They belong to neither party. Florida law only had provisions for a machine recount (which was done and still saw Bush ahead). Of course the Demorats have never let minor trifles like the law stop them and got their liberal buddies to legislate from the bench to get them the hand recount they wanted. The US supreme court ruled that you cannot change the rules after the contest is over. Seems fair to me.

@johnedwards1968 In my opinion the 5 justices got it right. There was no provision in Florida law for a hand recount. They did the machine recount required by law and Bush still came out ahead. Unlike folks doing a hand recount the voting machines don't have opinions. They belong to neither party. Oh, just for your FYI, I voted libertarian in 2000, so my guy was not going to win regardless of the outcome. I call the Republicans on their BS just as quick as I call the Dems on theirs.

Fascism is extreme nationalism. Which is why it's thought of as right-wing. Country first, individuals never, and so on. The problem was that you were randomly assigning menacing labels to both the president and hundreds of millions of people, not because they actually fit, but because they sound evil and menacing, and since you radiate a "us vs them" mentality, it helps to perceive "them" as the enemy. For actual exchange of opinion and discussion it's pretty counterproductive.

I didn't ask about liberals, and I didn't ask if GM is the only piece of evidence of Obama's totalitarian desires.
I asked if you believe that that specific instance of government take-over of a private company is indeed evidence of those desires rather than something else? A bid to save the jobs of the people who work there, thereby preventing further harm to the economy for example?
