10 years ago I wrote him asking why Congress encouraged individuals to depend on employers for insurance by giving employers the ability to deduct employees health expense.

I told him I'd like the right to the deduction for myself.

He wrote back (I was shocked by an apparent personal answer) saying individuals couldn't be given the deduction for the Government's need to tax those expenses.
